Press Release Press Release MARCH 18, 2018 A frustrating result for Renault e.dams in Uruguay The Punta del Este ePrix brought down the curtain on the South American part of the FIA Formula E Championship, but the Renault e.dams team didn’t meet with much success as only Nicolas Prost saw the chequered flag although he failed to score points. Sébastien Buemi won the two ePrix held in Uruguay in seasons 1 and 2. He continued where he’d left off by showing his mastery of the circuit laid out beside the Atlantic ocean by setting the fastest time in free practice 1. But he failed to qualify for the SuperPole shootout and started the race in sixth place on the grid. After losing two places at the start, the Swiss showed his fighting spirit by overtaking Sam Bird and André Lotterer just before the race was neutralised behind the safety car. On the restart Seb tried to get past Daniel Abt, but damaged a rear wheel as he skimmed the wall. He was forced to stop to change cars long before his rivals and he rejoined hoping that race incidents would enable him to save enough energy to reach the finish. He decided not to use the fan boost, which he’d again been awarded by his many fans. His efforts failed to meet with success and he pitted and retired eight laps before the chequered flag fell. Nicolas Prost was in 19th spot on the grid at the start after going off on his qualifying lap. This forced him to play a waiting game and he did a great job making the most of the energy in his first car and was the last driver to stop. He purged a 10second penalty for a battery change before rejoining. He never gave up and kept pushing hard until the chequered flag finishing in 15th place. Despite not scoring any points Sébastien Buemi is still in fourth place in the drivers’ championship, while Renault e.dams’ fifth place in the teams’ ratings remains unchanged. The FIA Formula E Championship’s next stop is Rome in just under a month on 14th April when the drivers will tackle a brandnew circuit. Nicolas Prost, n°8 “My day was compromised in qualifying. The overall level of the championship is so high that you just have to take risks. I was on a good lap pushing hard, but I had a slight off and that was that. From that moment on it looked like I was going to have a tricky race. We had a good car that was capable of fighting at the front. I was really hoping for a lot more than this result.” Sébastien Buemi, n°9 “It was a bad day for me and I’m feeling very sorry for the team. By clipping the wall I ruined our chances of a podium finish. We had a good enough car to achieve such a result as I was in front of Bird who finished third. Obviously I’m disappointed, but you can’t rerun the race and now we have to look to the next one. Although it wasn’t perhaps obvious in qualifying I think we were quick enough; that’s the positive aspect I’ll take away with me.” JeanPaul Driot, coowner of the team “The weekend was all the more disappointing as we’d won the two races held here in the previous seasons. We weren’t able to transform the speed we showed in free practice into concrete results. Our performance in qualifying was poor, especially Nico’s off that compromised his race. Seb had the potential to get into in the SuperPole; it was a closerun thing. Although he set a good pace in the early stages of the race he made a slight error when trying to get past Abt on the dirty side of the track. This had serious consequences as he had to come in early to change his car. Without another deployment of the safety car he couldn’t have made it to the finish. Our blank score card is disappointing as we could have bagged a big haul of points. That’s part of motor sport and we’re determined to show our capacity to fight back at the next race.” Vincent Gaillardot, FE programme manager “Punta del Este marked the halfway point of the season. After the series of podium finishes we began in Marrakech, we saw that this race, in which we’ve always been very quick in the past, was a good opportunity to get back in the running in the drivers’ classification. Unfortunately, we messed things up because of several small mistakes. The gap has widened, but we’ve shown that we’re in the mix. Once again the Super Pole was fought out between five different cars, which proves just how tight this championship is. Now, it’s up to us to string together the best sectors to clinch a pole position and a victory. More than ever, it’s our driving ambition at this stage of the season.” For More Information: Christophe DEVILLE Motorsport Communications campaign Manager +33 (0)1 76 84 64 83 [email protected] GROUPE RENAULT PRESS OFFICE Tel.: +33 (0)1 76 84 63 36 [email protected] Press Release MARCH 18, 2018 A frustrating result for Renault e.dams in Uruguay The Punta del Este ePrix brought down the curtain on the South American part of the FIA Formula E Championship, but the Renault e.dams team didn’t meet with much success as only Nicolas Prost saw the chequered flag although he failed to score points. Case in point, this is version three of an attempt to write this news journal for the club in December 2020, and the main reason on this struggle? Lack of motivation as a result of getting sick. I realised I caught the flu (real flu – not man flu), and a check in with my Doctor revealed a severe lack of Vitamin D (That’s lack of sunlight) and Vitamin B. In turn with all that going on, I was working 12-hour days, and something had to give.

PRESS RELEASE Paris, 11th December 2015 DS VIRGIN RACING AIMING TO POWER HOME IN URUGUAY DS Virgin Racing will be looking to round off 2015 in style, when the FIA Formula E Championship returns to Uruguay next weekend. After securing the team’s first podium finish of the 2015-16 FIA Formula E season during an eventful race in Putrajaya, Malaysia, last month, Sam Bird will be looking for another strong performance on the streets of Punta del Este in order to consolidate his position within the top 3 of the driver championship standings. For team-mate Jean-Éric Vergne, Punta will bring back some fond memories – it was here where the Frenchman made his Formula E debut last season, storming to pole position before his race was ultimately cut short. To celebrate the run-up to the holiday season, the DSV-01 car livery will be given a special festive make-over. Named after Holly and Bellie Branson, each car’s unique ‘flying lady’ graphic will be adorned with Christmas holly and bells for one-race only. The Punta del Este Street Circuit is one of the most recognisable on the Formula E calendar. Often dubbed the St. Tropez of South America, the circuit features 20 turns as it snakes around the city’s spectacular harbour. Speaking ahead of the race in Uruguay, Bird said: “After Malaysia the whole team was on a high, so we need to use that energy and channel it into another positive performance in Punta. We’re in a good place but there’s still a lot that we can improve on with the car too, which gives us plenty of optimism going into the weekend.

  • Understanding the Place-Specific Formation Processes of Sustainable Urban Experiments a Mixed Method Comparative Case Study of Formula E
Master’s thesis - master Innovation Sciences Understanding the place-specific formation processes of sustainable urban experiments A mixed method comparative case study of Formula E July 27, 2021 Author: Marius Roeterdink, BSc Student number: 5673127 Contact: [email protected] Supervisor: Dr. J. Hoekman Second reader: Dr. ir. J.C.L Torrens Master’s Thesis – Master Innovation Sciences GEO4-2239X Faculty of Geosciences, Utrecht University 0 Place-specific formation processes of sustainable urban experiments Abstract Cities are increasingly recognized as frontrunners in the transition to a more sustainable society due to their assembly of technology, resources, population, culture, and economics. This is, amongst others, visible from a global increase in urban actors collaborating to experiment with new sustainable configurations. These so-called sustainable urban experiments, embedded in a broader niche, are not confined to a specific spatial context but will rather emerge in complex ‘place bundles’, forming a global niche. However, the formation of a global niche is interrelated with local experimentation and is thereby locally rooted. A prime example is sustainable motorsports experiment Formula E. Formula E operates on a global scale with numerous multinational companies involved but is set in urban environments and the local regional context arguably influences the formation of such events. In other words, Formula E is a global sustainable urban experiment which is locally embedded. Considerable variation in the way a sustainable urban experiment is formed locally is likely to exist. The objective of this study was to complement strategic niche management and sustainable transitions literature by understanding the specific place-specific factors under which global sustainable urban experiments are formed.

  • The MICHELIN Pilot Sport EV Storms Through the Sand at Punta Del Este
MEDIA INFORMATION December 15, 2014 FIA FORMULA E CHAMPIONSHIP Punta del Este ePrix The MICHELIN Pilot Sport EV storms through the sand at Punta del Este The third round of the 2014/2015 FIA Formula E Championship in the Uruguayan coastal resort Punta del Este, on Saturday, December 13, 2014, took place in hot summer weather. Sébastien BUEMI (e.dams-Renault) followed up his podium finish on the previous round in Putrajaya, Malaysia, with his first victory in the series after a dramatic ePrix that was marked by several safety car interruptions. The Swiss driver came out on top of an exciting battle with Jean-Eric VERGNE (Andretti) – which lasted until the Frenchman was halted by a mechanical problem on the penultimate lap – to beat Brazilians Nelson PIQUET Jr (China Racing, +0.732s) and Lucas DI GRASSI (Audi Sport ABT, +2.365s). Third place allowed DI GRASSI to extend his lead in the championship over Virgin Racing’s Sam BIRD to 18 points. Despite suffering a last-minute disappointment, Jean-Eric VERGNE surprised observers by claiming pole position even though this was his very first experience of the Formula E Championship. That said the start of the race saw Nelson PIQUET Jr emerge from second on the grid to lead through the first turn. The Brazilian then lapped in front for almost half the distance until VERGNE finally found a way into the lead just prior to the car-swap window. As the drivers re-joined the track after switching to their second race cars, though, it was Sébastien BUEMI who appeared at the top of the order thanks to a slick change.
