Aloha!

Welcome to beautiful Las Vegas, Nevada! On behalf of the Board of Directors of Southern Nevada Association of PRIDE, Inc. (SNAPI) I would like to welcome you to the 2012 CAPI Conference, “This is it”.

Thank you for joining us for this educational and entertaining conference. Over the course of this four day conference, we hope that you will find the workshops both educating and inspiring. We’ve planned in-depth workshops covering every- thing from logistics, sponsorship and marketing to some of the hot issues within the LGBT community today. We will introduce you to some great and experienced presenters that hope to impart some of their knowledge with you. As the saying goes, “caring is sharing”.

I would like to thank our host, the Tropicana Hotel and Casino. We appreciate your warm hospitality! Also, it is important that we thank our sponsors because, without your generous contri- butions, we would not be able to produce this annual confer- ence. Thank you fellow SNAPI board members. Thank you Michael and the CAPI Board for all your guidance - It was a lot of hard work but worth it.

I hope you all have a great time while you are here in Las Vegas and that you fully enjoy your stay in “Sin City”. Have fun, be safe, and good luck!

Mahalo!

Planning a Conference Presented by Sylvain Bruni & Anna Dubrowski, Boston PRIDE The most difficult part of a conference is just breaking down all the components of putting on the conference into an organized and coherent outline that can be easily divvied-up to all participants. Once that is done, it is just the leader’s job to ensure the timelines are being met through clear and concise communication amongst the team. Sounds simple enough and it is. It makes for an enjoyable conference for everyone. This workshop will have an organized handout on the components of putting on a conference. We will go over some possible scenarios and then discuss with the group. There are different methods, but being organized and having a clear communi- cation method will ensure success. Using Surveys to Grow Your Event Presented by Jake Naylor Surveys are an often overlooked source of information vital to both the improvement of your event, and its continued growth. During this workshop, you will learn the importance of surveys, when & where they are appropriate/most successful, and why they are so valuable.

You will also discuss what types of questions are most valuable and how to turn that information into greater event successes year after year. Asking the right questions will not only help you improve your next event, but may help you land that new sponsor, or gain greater sponsorship from your existing sponsors.
