Medieninformation vom 1. Konzertdaten Samstag, 10. -
The Deep Purple Tributes
[% META title = 'The Deep Purple Discography' %] The Deep Purple Tributes Here we will try to keep a list of known Deep Purple tributes -- full CDs only. (Covers of individual tracks are listed elsewhere.) The list is still not complete, but hopefully it will be in the future. Funky Junction Plays a Tribute to Deep Purple UK 1973 Stereo Gold Award MER 373 [1LP] Purple Tracks Performed by Eric Bell (guitar), Brian Downey (drums), Dave Lennox (keyboards), Phil Lynott (bass) and Fireball Black Night Benny White (vocals). Strange Kind of Woman Hush Speed King The first known Purple tribute was recorded as early as 1972. An unknown, starving band named Thin Lizzy (which consisted of Bell, Downey & Lynott) were offered a lump sum of money to record some Deep Purple songs. (The album contains also a few non-DP tracks.) They did - with the help from two Irish guys. The album came out in early 1973. It wasn't a success. In February, Thin Lizzy had a top ten hit with a single of their own. Read more about it here. To many, child abuse is narrowly defined as having only physical implication. In reality categories of child abuse includes: • Physical abuse; unlawful corporal punishment or injury. • General and severe neglect. • Emotional abuse • Sexual abuse; sexual assault; exploitation. • Willful cruelty or unjustifiable punishment; emotional maltreatment. What Makes Me Feel Drawn to KROKE Music Is Spiritual Reality of the Musicians, This Means Honesty and Authenticity of the Music
What makes me feel drawn to KROKE music is spiritual reality of the musicians, this means honesty and authenticity of the music. Nigel Kennedy The music is too dark to really represent traditional klezmer. At times, it is almost as if the Velvet Underground have been reborn as a klezmer band. Ari Davidov KROKE live are a hair-raisingly brilliant, unforgettable experience. John Lusk At times they sound jazzy, at times contemporary, at times classical. Their music is at once passionate and danceable. Dominic Raui KROKE (which means Kraków in Yiddish) was formed in 1992 by three friends and graduates of the Kraków Academy of Music: Jerzy Bawoł (accordion), Tomasz Kukurba (viola) and Tomasz Lato (double bass). The members of the group completed all stages of standard music education, including contemporary music. KROKE began by playing klezmer music, which is deeply set in Jewish tradition, and adding a strong influence of Balkan music. Currently, they draw inspiration from a variety of ethnic music from around the world, combining it with elements of jazz and improvisation, creating their own distinctive style. Initially, KROKE performed only in clubs and galleries situated in Kazimierz, a former Jewish district of Kraków. There, for the first time, one could listen to KROKE's songs. They later recorded their first cassette released at their own expense in 1993. While performing at the Ariel gallery, they came to the attention of Steven Spielberg, who was shooting Schindler's List in Kraków at the time. Spielberg invited them to Jerusalem, where he was shooting the final scenes. The group performed a concert at the Survivors' Reunion for those of Oskar Schindler's list who made it through the war. -

Not least the wonderful music we are going to hear in the splendour of the greatest surviving Georgian town palace in London. The City Music Foundation – CMF – is just five years old and it was created in this house. Its mission is to turn talent into success by giving training in the “business of music” to soloists and ensembles at the start of their professional careers, as well as promoting them extensively in a modern and professional manner. Several - the Gildas Quartet, Michael Foyle, and Giacomo Smith with the Kansas Smitty’s, are playing for us this evening. This year CMF hopes to move into a more permanent home in the City at St Bartholomew the Less, within the boundaries of St Bartholomew’s Hospital – and within the City of London’s ‘Culture Mile’. This anticipates the relocation of the Museum of London to its new site in Smithfield and the creation of a new Centre for Music on the south side of the Barbican – all exciting developments in the heart of the Capital. -
40Th Anniversary Reunion (DVD) Page 1 of 2
FAME Review: Emerson, Lake, & Palmer - 40th Anniversary Reunion (DVD) Page 1 of 2 FAME Review: Emerson, Lake, & Palmer - 40th Anniversary Reunion (DVD) 40th Anniversary Reunion Emerson, Lake, & Palmer MVD Visual - MVD5219D (DVD) Available from ELP's web store . A review written for the Folk & Acoustic Music Exchange by Mark S. Tucker ([email protected] ). While I was ecstatically getting my brain razed by some of the latest NuProgressives (Chocolate Horses and Nerves Junior being two of the most recent and among the best), this MVD DVD providentially came my way as kind of a subtle grail, a piece of the true cross, a time machine back to where it all started. Emerson, Lake, and Palmer have reigned as co-equal kings among a coterie of legendary ensembles from an age when unbelievable intelligence, talent, and musical mastery held sway, a time that sadly waned as the shenanigans of punk took over (a regicide happily and speedily failed, as we've seen), and is now in the last gasps of its glory. Before Jorden Rudess, Vitali Kuprij, and others arose, Keith Emerson, Jon Lord, Kerry Minear, Mike Pinder, and sundry geniuses established what virtuosity meant in a rock keyboardist. Before Mike Portnoy, Neil Peart, and other skins-pounders took over the reins, Carl Palmer, Bill Bruford, Ginger Baker, Keith Moon, and others were the drummers to be feared and admired. And when it came to the bass guitar, Greg Lake, Colin Hodgkinson, and Percy Jones preceded Flea and the gaggle of modern day four- stringers. There are aways antecedents. Earlier, Emerson fulfilled a dream we progheads have long held: the reunion of his pre-ELP band, The Nice, and, man, was it ever a rare thrill to see Keith, Brian Davison, and Lee Jackson making music again (if you're a Nice fan, check out the hideously cool Microwerks Diamond Hard Blue Apples of the Moon 2-CD issuance of 'bootleg' materials from the original 60s Nice). -
