Application for resource consent – control tower, George Bolt Street, Rongotai

Wellington City Council publicly notifies the following application for resource consent for a new air traffic control tower:

Site address: 1 George Bolt Street, Rongotai (also known as 125-131 Tirangi Road)

Type of consent sought: Land use

Description of proposal: To construct, operate and maintain a new 32.5 metre high air traffic control tower at the Airport Retail Park on Tirangi Road; with associated earthworks on a site that is identified in the District Plan as potentially contaminated.

District Plan area: Airport and Golf Course Recreation Precinct

Activity status: Discretionary (Unrestricted) Activity.

This notice is in accordance with section 95A of the Resource Management Act 1991.

The application requires resource consent under the following District Plan rules:

• Rule 11.4.2 – For the construction of the building. • Rule 11.2.4 – For earthworks that disturb or alter the ground of a potentially contaminated site. • Rule 11.2.2 – For the use, storage and handling of hazardous substances (diesel).

How to make a submission

Any person may make a submission on the application. However, for a person who is a trade competitor of the applicant, they may do so only if that person is directly affected by an effect of the activity to which the application relates that - (a) adversely affects the environment; and (b) does not relate to trade competition or the effects of trade competition.

The submission must be in the prescribed form, be dated, signed by you and include the following information: 1. Your name, postal address, telephone number, email address and fax number (if applicable). 2. Details of the application in respect of which you are making the submission, including location and service request/reference number. 3. Whether you support, oppose or are neutral to the application. 4. Your submission, with reasons. 5. The decision you wish the Council to make. 6. Whether you wish to be heard (make an oral submission) in relation to your submission.

Submissions must be made in time to be received no later than 4.30 pm on Friday 29 May 2015.

Your submission may also become publicly available if a request for it is made under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987.

Wellington City Council is legally required to provide a copy of your submission to the applicant. You must serve a copy of your submission on the applicant(s) as soon as reasonably practicable after serving your submission on the Council.
