Important changes to allowances for Emerald members

From Friday 1 February 2013, all oneworld Emerald members will be entitled to one additional checked bag when travelling on Qantas marketed (QF flight number) and operated flights on the Qantas international network (or a domestic flight that is part of an international ticket where the stop is less than 24 hours).

How will employees put these extra allowances through the check-in system? The check-in system will automatically calculate and apply the extra allowance.

How will Airports employees know if a customer is a oneworld Emerald member? The customer’s oneworld Emerald status will appear on their booking during the check-in process.

Will these baggage allowances be displayed on customers’ tickets? Additional Qantas Frequent Flyer and oneworld Emerald member checked baggage allowances are not displayed on a customer’s ticket, only the ticketed checked baggage allowance for the cabin of is shown.

For your information, please be aware oneworld airlines that have a weight system will be offering oneworld Emerald members travelling on oneworld marketed and operated flights on international tickets an extra 20 kilograms above their ticketed checked baggage allowance for the cabin they are travelling in.

These changes are designed to encourage loyalty members to book their travel on the oneworld network and provide a more seamless customer experience as customers move between oneworld carriers.

Please note that as a result of the Qantas and Emirates partnership, which is subject to government and regulatory approvals, Qantas’ baggage policy may change.
