Using our recipes you can create Tblends equal to those found only in the finest boutiques. We have carefully designed our potpourri recipes so that fragrance and appearance will complement each other. You may wish to adjust them to your own artistic preferences. Instructions: Measure out all dry ingredients and blend by hand in large non-metallic bowl or paper grocery bag. With a pipette, gradually add fragrance or essential oil to potpourri. If using fragrance oil, we suggest about 1/4 to 1/2 fl oz oil per 16 cups potpourri (approx. 1 gallon), depending on strength of oil. If using essential oil we suggest 1/16 to 1/4 fl oz per 16 cups potpourri. Essential oil is very concentrated, so use sparingly. You can scent such fixatives as Orris Root and Cellulose Fiber separately and blend with dry ingredients later. Dyed potpourri items should be blended after potpourri is scented to prevent color from bleeding. Fixatives such as Oak Moss, Orris Root, Cellulose, Citrus Peels and Spices help absorb, preserve and release the fragrance of your blend. After blending and scenting potpourri, fill wide-mouth jars or non-metallic containers 3/4 full, cover tightly and store in cool dark place. Check fragrance after several days and add more scent if desired. Cure (let scents mingle and mellow) for 2 to 6 weeks.
