GEORGETOWN ABOUT THE DAVIDSON LAST TIME OUT HOYAS MATCHUP (2018) WILDCATS • The Hoyas are coming off one of the biggest turnaround seasons in the country last season, finishing 5-6 overall after a 5-6, 4-1 RECORD 6-5, 3-5 1-10 2017 season. • Georgetown went 4-2 in Patriot League play, its best conference record since joining the league in 2001. GU’s win over TOTAL OFFENSE Fordham snapped a 15-game losing streak against PL opponents. 15.6 PPG 44.9 • The Hoyas led the Patriot League with 34 sacks and 20 interceptions, and ranked second in scoring defense (21.1 ppg), total defense (298.0 ypg) and rushing defense (103.2 ypg). 3.9 YARDS/PLAY 7.7 • Nationally, the Blue & Gray was among the top 20 in interceptions (2nd), pass efficiency defense (2nd), turnovers gained (6th), rushing defense (10th), total defense (12th), sacks (10th) and scoring defense (18th). 249.4 YARDS/GAME 552.2 • In its first season under Offensive Coordinator Rob Spence, the GU offense improved in almost every statistical category RUSHING including points per game, touchdowns, total yards per game and total rushing yards. 2.6 YARDS/RUSH 7.3 WHAT IS RETURNING • The Hoyas return 15 starters from the 2018 season, including seven on offense and eight on defense. 93.9 YARDS/GAME 433.2 • Quarterback Gunther Johnson returns after starting all 11 games last season (152-296, 1,696 yards, 9 TD, 6 INT, 4 rushing TD) 10 TOUCHDOWNS 55 • The Hoyas return its top three rushers from 2018 (Herman Moultrie, Saffold, Tolliver) • Georgetown returns three of its top five receivers in terms of receiving yards (Dereus, Tomas, Edwards) PASSING • Brad Hurst returns as the primary punter after back-to-back seasons average 40+ yards per punt. • The defense returns four of its top five tacklers (Bowers, Reddick, Tate, Kessler) 5.6 YARDS/ATTEMPT 9.5 155.5 YARDS/GAME 119.0 ABOUT THE MATCHUP • Georgetown and Davidson are meeting for the 13th time, with the Hoyas holding a 9-3 advantage in the series and have 9 TOUCHDOWNS 13 won the past five meetings. • The two teams last met in the 2016 season opener at Georgetown, a 38-14 victory for the Hoyas. In the letter, Mr. James W. Egan, Vice Presi­ dent for University Development, said: "Father Bunn knew whereof he spoke, which on the basis of his past performance, the writer of your editorial should have assumed or, at least, he should have inquired directly before rushing to print." In addition to this comment, The HOYA has attempted to obtain comments on the tuition increase in particular and University finances in general from administrative of­ ficials.
