How much do you think being a part of this team helps you in trying to shape #4 Jonathan Dunn your feelings about the situations that are prevalent in this country today? Junior • Running Back Are there conversations that you feel you can have a teammate and not just Springfield, Va. anyone? I was a military brat growing up . we all know everybody is equal . Aside from ship to come here . So I think in that aspect everybody contributes to the conversation in that, athletics has been a huge part of my life since I can remember . I started playing their own way, but nobody takes away from it by portraying priviledge or trying to put soccer at a young age as I’m sure many people did and then transitioned to football by somebody down because they aren’t as priviledged as they are . the time I was about in 4th grade . When you move from football into real life again, what is the most valuable In terms of high school years what else were you involved in? lesson you will have learned? In high school it was all athletics . I played football all four years . I also ran indoor and I’ve definitley learned a lot of lessons with Tribe football specifically . After running track I kinda got a really good appreciation for track and field order to achieve or succeed those goals that you set for yourself . I think that with Tribe athletes and what they go through so everytime the Olympics come around I watch football it’s an important thing . We have everybody working hard and not everybody is them and think “Man, I know that feeling of being really close to somebody and not going to end up playing on Saturdays, but the key is to focus and work your butt off so having enough or even winning the race blowing by everybody ”. that you can get out on the field . But again, it’s that mentality, you have to work that hard . How many schools recrouted you? At the team I had probably had seven schools who were heavily recruiting me, with William & Mary being the first out of the CAA and FCS to really show heavy interest . My recruiter, Chris Barclay, who is not here anymore, developed a really good relationship and obviously William & Mary is a really good institution . My parents and I were really excited to have the opportunity for me to go to a school like that because without foot- ball I might not be in this kind of situation that I am now .

What are you majoring in? Anthropology, and possibly minoring in sociology or psychology .

In a perfect world, what would you like to do after graduation if football is no longer in play? After graduation, it is still an idea, I’m thinking about doing more activist work or being more socially involved with different political and social issues that are coming up in the world especially in the contemporary time that we are in right now . I think it has been a pivotal moment in history the way race relations and different things like that are starting to shape out and develop . I think that having a voice in that kind of field is important .

Game 2 • William & Mary at Hampton • Sept. 10, 2016 • 6 p.m. • Armstrong Stadium 17 Tribe Profile - Jonathan Dunn

Talk about staying in and grinding for your opportunity. ing . I find that fun because once you learn the shapes that go along with real life objects For me personally I’ve always been the kind person that if I decide to do something it makes it easier for you to just think about the picture and then just draw that scene on then I’m going to stick with it until the end . Football and continuing my academics at a piece of paper without having anything to reference from . William & Mary is no different . It was hard to know that I am behind Mikal and Kendell and that I have to play the reserve role and just play my part . But again, mentally it made me stronger because I know this is what I want to do . This is what I have to do in order to accomplish my goals, so I had to make the sacrifice . I had to take that behind the scenes kind of role and play my part but still make sure I’m contributing to the team and making sure they’re working hard, making sure everyone is working hard . I think that that has been beneficial for me because I’m in this position now where I could be a significant contributor . I’m looking forward to where I am, and I’m excited that I decided to stick with it .

How would you describe your playing style? I would have to describe it as a hybrid . I’m not going to say I’m a power back . I would say I’m closer to a scat-back – I move quick . Having a track background and being a runner for four years, I get moving pretty fast and that’s my biggest advantage on the field, my speed . I like to use it as much as I can but at the same time I’m not afraid to run between the tackles and lower my shoulder and initiate contact with guys bigger than I am . I would like to compare myself to Le’Veon Bell from the Pittsburgh Steelers . He’s very graceful and glides through . Once the field breaks it’s a footrace .

What do you watch on TV? I’ve been watching HBO GO and right now my favorite show is Ballers with The Rock . It’s pretty much a football show but it’s like an inside scoop on how the NFL or the League works and operates and stuff like that . It’s entertaining, it’s obviouolsy fictional, but it is entertaining to watch and it’s relatable football players . On Netflix I like to watch a lot of scary movies . I’m actually big movie buff, specifically with scary movies . Whenever I get the chance I’ll go on Netflix and try to find a goodlooking scary movie to watch . Last semester I took a horror films study class and we watched a lot of classic horror movies and thrillers . From that class there was a movie called Peeping Tom and it stood out to me because it was a psychological thriller . It was a movie from the 1960s and I thought, “Wow, who would have thought to do that in the 1960s,” because that’s pushing the envelope a lot .

Do you do any reading for pleasure? No, reading puts me to sleep . But I do like to read about social issues . Before I go to bed I like to go online and know what kind of issues are going on in the world and read up on them so I can have an awareness or understanding about what is happening in the world . I check the New York Times, Washington Post (because I’m from that area), but mainly a Google search for a key word to see what pops up . I like to read multiple differ- ent opinions on social issues on the same topic so I can better develop my own opinion based on what is being said .

What is a talent of yours that nobody else has? I’m actually pretty creative . I think I’m a really good artist when I sit down and think I want to conceptualize this picture, I want to draw this picture . I did actually take art in high school and didn’t continue it but I always do enjoy sitting down and having that mental release of being able to draw something or conceptualize something . A lot of times I like to draw cartoons and fictional characters . My favorite thing to draw is still life because it allows me to practice getting realistic images by just looking and draw-

The Wolfpack outgained W&M, 521-168, and held more than a 10-minute advantage in time of posses- sion (35:13-24:47) . However, W&M’s other four first-half drives netted just 3 total yards, while the Wolfpack punched in touchdowns on three of its next four possessions in the opening 30 minutes .
