    DERBY BOROUGH TRANSPORT HISTORICAL FLEET LIST This list is not complete - Please email any additions or corrections to this list - thanks! Some notes on Derby's fleet numbering may be helpful. The prewar motorbus series reached 73, and the first wartime utility bus (a solitary Bristol K) took the fleet number 74. The series then reverted to 1, with 1-21 being Daimler and Guy utilities. By 1949, however, the new series was 'catching up' with the earlier prewar numbers, hence the jump from 41 to 75 to avoid duplication. This series then continued right up to 315, delivered in 1981; lowheight double deckers and coaches were numbered in separate series, as were the four Daimlers acquired secondhand from Halifax. A new series for new-generation double deckers was begun in 1978 by Foden NC number 101. Trolleybuses followed on from the tram series, with the first one (79) arriving in 1932; the series then continued unbroken to 243 of 1960.     Fleet Archive 2020 12 July 2020 Repaints last week included Volvo B7TL/Wright Eclipse Gemini 3943 (NK05 GZR) into the 2019 fleet livery. An additional National Express diagram will be in operation from Chester-le-Street Depot’s Coaching Unit from Monday 13 July 2020. As such, Volvo B11RT/Caetano Levante 3 7148 (BV69 KPK) and 7149 (BV69 KRD) have now been reinstated at Chester-le-Street. Optare Solo SR M890/Optare 652 (NL63 XZZ) has transferred to Chester-le-Street Depot from Washington, to see primary use as a ‘bait bus’ and to provide cover for the minibus services in the event of any of the three already allocated to Chester-le-Street being off service. In exchange, Washington has received Scania CN230UB/Scania Omnicity 5263 (NK56 KJY). The seasonal Toon Tour service is not yet running, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Despite this; open-top format Plaxton President bodied Volvo B7TLs 3997 (897 EYX) and 3998 (794 EYD) have been reinstated at Percy Main, and 3999 (574 CPT) at Riverside. As these vehicles are something of a novelty; they are expected to be used on frontline core commercial work on sunny days, with the aim of creating some happiness and fun during the current pandemic. Washington Depot will no longer receive the brand-new ADL Enviro 400s which were on order. They will now receive the new Wright StreetDecks instead. As such other repaints will now be prioritised, with the batch of StreetDecks for Washington not expected until September. Float/reserve Volvo B7TL/East Lancs Myllennium Vyking 3971 (PJ02 PYX) has transferred from Washington to Riverside, in a full capacity, to enable the withdrawal of Volvo B7TL/Plaxton President 6939 (PJ02 RAX) which has subsequently been sold to L&G Coaches, Birtley.

    Fleet Archive 2020 15 March 2020 Repaints last week included Optare Solo M890/Optare 628 (NK61 DBZ) into “Little Coasters” livery. Volvo B9TL/Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 6004 (NK11 BHE) has also lost its branding for the “Red Arrows”, having been stripped of all vinyls, ahead of the introduction of new vehicles to this service in May. There were no fleet movements last week. 8 March 2020 Repaints last week included Mercedes Citaro 0350N/Mercedes Citaro 5278 (NK07 KPN) and 5279 (NK07 KPO) into the 2019 fleet livery. Scania N94UD/East Lancs OmniDekka 6143 (YN04 GKA) is no longer a float/reserve vehicle and now forms part of the main fleet allocation at Riverside. It has replaced former East Yorkshire Volvo B7TL/Plaxton President 6935 (X508 EGK) which has suffered defects uneconomical to repair. Float Optare Solo M890/Optare 636 (NK61 FMD) is now allocated to Percy Main to provide cover for the remaining “Little Coasters” branded Optare Solo repaints. Scania L94UB/Wright Solar 5226 (NK54 NVZ) has now been withdrawn from service at Riverside and, together with 5231 (NK55 OLJ), has transferred to East Yorkshire on temporary loan. 1 March 2020 The final coach to be repainted as part of the ongoing work into the new Northern Coaching unit is Scania K340EB/Caetano Levante 7098 (JCN 822) into Voyager livery. Notable is the allocation of the registration mark JCN822: this registration mark being allocated to Leyland Tiger/Plaxton Paramount 7038 (E116 KFV) from 1990 to 1997 whilst a part of the Northern fleet in Voyager livery. Scania N94UD/East Lancs OmniDekka 6143 (YN04 GKA) has transferred from Chester-le-Street to Riverside, as a float/reserve vehicle.

ZF has again achieved market success with its zero-emission drive technologies: London bus operator, Tower Transit, has ordered thirty-seven Metrodecker EVs from British bus manufacturer Optare. The battery-electric version of the typical red double-decker bus is propelled by the proven ZF electric portal axle, AxTrax AVE. ZF is now enabling two bus operators in London to offer clean mobility. Optare expects that one hundred electric double-decker buses will be on the roads of British city centers by the end of the year. With the AxTrax AVE electric portal axle, ZF is providing a successful model for achieving sustainable local public transportation. Globally, more than 2,200 electric buses equipped with the AxTrax AVE have already covered 150 million local, emission free kilometers. Tower Transit is now the second bus operator in London to decide in favor of the proven electric portal axle. Over the course of the year, thirty-seven Optare Metrodecker EVs, battery-electric versions of the iconic red double-decker buses, are to begin serving both the No.23 bus route, running past Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace and route C3, which serves south-eastern London.
