Dear Friends, I am happy to present you the third edition of the Music International Summer Academy - MISA which will be held this year in Tbilisi and Batumi in collaboration with Batumi State Music Center and Batumi State City Hall. As far as Georgia is the country of rich history and culture and occupies its own special place in folk and classical music heritage of the world. I believe that Georgia has the chance to occupy the special place in contemporary classical music. In order to promote classical music among young people I have founded “Young Musicians International Association of Georgia”. In this regard, one of the first and important activity of the association was the establishment of Music International Summer Academy - MISA. The main goal of our association is to introduce the young talents to the wide audience and improve their professional skills with the help of outstanding musicians and professors. I want to emphasize that each musician invited by the association is extraordinary artist, who explored creative career and has unique personality. It should be noted that MISA is planning to organize events in different cities and regional centers of Georgia to attract the international students and wide audience. I believe that MISA will give the contribution in the development of classical music in Georgia and therefore in the field of tourism. Founder and Artistic Director of MISA Shorena Tsintsabadze I am so glad, that Music International Summer Academy MISA in Georgia was organized for the first time in Batumi 2015. It is worth to mention that year after year MISA is becoming more impressive and is definitely achieving their goals. The main goal of MISA is to invite the outstanding musicians over the world and famous Georgian musicians living abroad to provide the master classes for young talented musicians. The fact, that the Academy is not only held in Batumi, but also in different regions our country, means that such projects improve the level of musical education and cultural projects in Georgia. I would like to thank all musicians, who support the academy, stand beside the pianist Shorena Tsintsabadze and participated in this project for free. Conducting Studies Conference 2016 24th – 26th June St Anne’s College University of Oxford Conducting Studies Conference 2016 24-26 June, St Anne’s College WELCOME It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to St Anne’s College and the Oxford Conducting Institute Conducting Studies Conference 2016. The conference brings together 44 speakers from around the globe presenting on a wide range of topics demonstrating the rich and multifaceted realm of conducting studies. The practice of conducting has significant impact on music-making across a wide variety of ensembles and musical contexts. While professional organizations and educational institutions have worked to develop the field through conducting masterclasses and conferences focused on professional development, and academic researchers have sought to explicate various aspects of conducting through focussed studies, there has yet to be a space where this knowledge has been brought together and explored as a cohesive topic. The OCI Conducting Studies Conference aims to redress this by bringing together practitioners and researchers into productive dialogue, promoting practice as research and raising awareness of the state of research in the field of conducting studies. We hope that this conference will provide a fruitful exchange of ideas and serve as a lightning rod for the further development of conducting studies research.
