The authors have also started the research of their related lines of the Casey family and short sec- tions are also included on these lines: Woodward and Ellison. See the pedigree chart on the following page for their relationship to the Casey line. The authors of this book are experienced genealogists and have previously published four pa- per based family histories. Robert Casey and his father, Harold Casey, pub- lished “Casey Family History” in 1980 and then published “Shelton, Wininger and Pace Families” in 1988. Robert Casey and his mother, Bernice (Brooks) Casey, published “Brooks Family History” in 1982 and “Olliff Family History” in 1992. Robert Casey and his mother, Bernice (Brooks) Casey, are currently compiling “Bryan Family History.” Robert and his wife, Diane (Thede) Casey, are also compiling “Thede, Aubil, Steeby and Garver Families.” The Casey family has compiled over 57,000 cousins so far in their research. This book is the electronically published second edition of “Casey Family His- tory” and will not be published in book form for at least another five to ten years, if ever. The second edition of this book was compiled by Robert Casey from information primarily obtained by Robert’s father, Harold Casey. Although Harold Casey died on January 8, 1991, this book will continue to use his name as one of the authors because of his significant contribution to this project. The second edition of this book is dedicated to Harold Casey, one of the best fathers that anyone could ask for and one of the most active Casey researchers who will be missed by many, specially by his son, Robert. This is the second edition of “Casey Family History” and the authors will con- tinue to compile additional information as it becomes available. It is highly rec- ommended that anyone wishing to preserve their Casey family history write and contribute any information in their possession. We are specially interested in copies of older photographs, family history recorded in Family Bibles, existing family history sketches, genealogical correspondence which contains a signifi- cant quantity of information, letters and diaries written prior to 1900, older legal documents, census records as well as recent additions to your families. 2-6 INTERACTIVE FAMILY HISTORIES Additional information is greatly appreciated and will be included in future edi- tions or updates of this book. Much information received by the authors on our family history has been copied and revised several times prior to its inclusion in our book. The authors have learned from experience that copying and interpret- ing usually results is less accurate information. Additionally, primary sources of valuable information as well as critical information are lost in this process. If a large amount of information is derived from another person or existing written material, then please send the name and address of the source or Xerox the exist- ing material. The authors can not underemphasize the need and usefulness of original source material. Much of the history of the Casey family is incomplete and some may be incorrect. The authors wish to apologize to those cousins whose information on their line is briefly covered or contains errors. There are many of our relatives who are interested in adding to our family history but do not know that this book is being compiled. Additional names and addresses of other interested family historians are very difficult to find without your help. In- formation has been obtained from many sources and references are listed with each family sketch to aid future research on the lines contained in this book. The first edition of “Casey Family History” was published in 1980 is no longer available for sale. The last copies were sold in later part of 1994 and a reprint is not currently planned (in paper form). This book was 8 1/2 x 11 inches, con- tained 195 pages, had a hardback cover, had over 800 entries in the index, in- cluded six photographs and was published in 1980. This book also included research on the immigrant Abner Casey as well as the 1876 manuscript by Lewis F. Casey and the Casey sketch by William H. Perrin published in 1883 (not in- cluded in this electronic second edition). The book contains early research on Virginia, South Carolina and Tennessee (not included in this electronic second edition). These sections have been replaced by Casey research that has a more reasonable change of being related to the authors: Casey families of Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri and Oklahoma. This new version of “Casey Family His- tory” includes an expanded version of the descendants of Jesse E. Casey (born 1797) who probably is related to the authors; a new version of Abner Casey (born 1786) which covers the majority of the Arkansas Casey families included in the 1964 Casey History by George and Abner Casey (never published); a new section on Randolph Casey (born 1740s), John Casey (born 1782), Henson Casey (born 1834) and James Casey (born 1795).
