Reunion brings together alumni, families, students, faculty, staff and friends for five days of events, entertainment and celebration of the places, people and programs that make us uniquely Lawrence . Please use this program to help customize your experience . This weekend is the result of months of work and dedication by many in the Lawrence community . THE LUCIA RUSSELL BRIGGS DISTINGUISHED ACHIEVEMENT AWARD Presented to an alumnus or alumna of Lawrence University or - Downer College of more than 15 years for outstanding contributions to and achievements in a career field . This award honors Lucia Russell Briggs, second president of Milwaukee-Downer College and one of the most beloved and influential figures in that college’s history . Nancy J. Mattson ’76, founder, managing director, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Argent Group Ltd ,. is being honored for her remarkable vision and leadership throughout her career in the financial industry . Nancy previously served as vice president at Bank of America, earning the fastest promotion to that rank in the company’s history . In 1982, she helped found Argent, a boutique investment banking firm specializing in asset-based and structured financings of large-ticket capital assets . She is an industry expert in maritime finance and received the United States Navy’s Distinguished Public Service Award in 1987 for her work as a financial advisor on a multi-billion dollar program .

THE NATHAN M. PUSEY YOUNG ALUMNI DISTINGUISHED ACHIEVEMENT AWARD Presented to an alumnus or alumna of Lawrence University or Milwaukee- Downer College whose exemplary leadership and notable actions have contributed to the betterment of the entire Lawrence University community . Curien J. Kurrien ’01, editor-in-chief of GQ , is being honored for his drive and ambition in establishing himself as a force in Indian journalism . In 2008, he launched GQ India at the age of 29, making him the youngest editor in publishing titan Condé Nast’s illustrious history . Since then, he has built the magazine into India’s leading men’s media brand . Before taking the helm at GQ India, he showed his range as a journalist, working as a reporter for a daily newspaper (The Indian Express), helping to launch a lifestyle magazine (Time Out Mumbai) and writing for an international wire service (Reuters) that brought his stories to The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Boston Globe.

– 8 – THE GEORGE B. WALTER ’36 SERVICE TO SOCIETY AWARD Presented to an alumnus or alumna of Lawrence University or Milwaukee- Downer College who best exemplifies the ideals of a liberal education through its application to socially useful ends in the community, the nation or the world . This award honors George B . Walter ’36, faculty member, coach and dean of men, whose work at the college and beyond was guided by his conviction that every individual can and should make a positive difference in the world . Timothy A. Burnside ’02, museum specialist in curatorial affairs at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African American History and Culture, is being recognized for her dedication to preserving modern culture and history for the betterment of society . She works closely with musicians, artists and others to build collections and develop exhibitions and programs that offer complex representations of history and cultural expression . Timothy began her career with the Smithsonian at the National Museum of American History in 2003 and launched that museum’s hip-hop collecting initiative in 2006 . She has since worked on many Smithsonian projects, including an exhibition about the Apollo Theater in Harlem, N Y. . Timothy regularly presents at conferences across the country and speaks with college and graduate students about opportunities in the museum field .

– 9 – THE GERTRUDE BREITHAUPT JUPP M-D ’18 OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARD Presented to an alumnus or alumna of Lawrence University or Milwaukee- Downer College after his or her 15th Cluster Reunion who has provided outstanding service to Lawrence University, this award honors Gertrude Breithaupt Jupp, voted Milwaukee-Downer alumna of the year in 1964 for her long-standing service to the college as president of the alumnae association board, class secretary and public-relations officer . Betty Heistad Barrett M-D’55 is being recognized for her longstanding devotion and commitment to sustaining the Milwaukee-Downer College legacy at Lawrence . She enables passionate students to improve our world, grow as young professionals and explore the nonprofit sector through the Betty Heistad Barrett Fund for Excellence in Civic Service, which she established with her late husband, Edgar, in 2010 . Betty is also a member of the Lawrence-Downer Legacy Circle and a loyal annual donor to the college . Betty has served on the Lawrence University Alumni Association Board of Directors, on the 50-Year Connection committee and numerous other Reunion committees, and on a working group for Lawrence’s More Light! campaign in 2009 . She co-chaired her 50th Reunion gift committee, helping inspire the rest of her 30-member class to all contribute to the Milwaukee-Downer Class of 1955 Scholarship at Lawrence . She currently serves on the 50-Year Connection committee, as well as the Campaign Planning task force, and is a long-standing class secretary . William O. Hochkammer ’66, a health care attorney and partner in the firm Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP, is being honored for his wide-reaching generosity in service and support . Bill and his wife, Marcia, have created the Hochkammer Family Scholarship, joined the Lawrence-Downer Legacy Circle through a deferred gift, and made a leadership gift to the Lawrence Fund and the construction of the Warch Campus Center . They also give generously to the Lawrence Fund each year . He dedicated 22 years to the Board of Trustees, serving as chairman of the board from 2005 to 2007 and lending thoughtful counsel to a host of committees, from academic affairs to finance to a presidential search . He co-chaired the More Light! campaign, and has played a key role in the Full Speed to Full Need fundraising campaign . These campaigns have transformed the campus and renewed the promise of an accessible education at Lawrence . He currently serves on the Campaign Planning task force, as a Legacy Circle Gift Planning chair and is a co-chair for his 50th Reunion committee .
