Making wine vineyard to vineyard, winery to winery: so one can follow the productive history of each winery. The many trips to France with visits to both small wineries to major Château had made it clear to Franco Bernabei the importance of “terroir” and how to grow the vines. Freelance wine maker since 1978 and then in 1993 Franco Bernabei and his wife Daniela founded ENOPROJECT, a wine making consulting company based in Greve in Chianti. Currently there are about thirty Italian wineries under the Enoproject wing.

Ten people are currently working in Enoproject, amongst them his son Matteo, a graduate in Viticulture and Enology. His wife Daniela follows the administration and coordination of the office.

Enoproject provides not only assistance to the wineries and wine making, but also offers advice regarding matters of marketing and development of the entire production of wine. The strength of this company is a great team of technical analysts, who through their professionalism, can offer advice to wineries of any dimension, as well as to spread the love for the earth and the vine. Perfecting winemaking means improving the quality of wines, because vinification is a critical first step. The labels on which the company now aims are Regolo Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso DOC and Marani Bianco Veronese IGT wines-brand very representative of Sartori. With these two wines Sartori always works using varietal and vineyards of the Verona area, but with a freer hand to create a style and a recognizable characteristic that the winery would like to see, one day, as a direct expression of his elegant style of his identity as winemaker.

“Corte Brà” Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOC 2008

Grape varieties: 50% Corvina Veronese, 30% Rondinella Corvinone 15% 5% Oseleta

Vineyards: Vineyard Located in the hills north of Verona Farm "Corte Bra".

Soil:Clay,Limestone.

Winemaking: The grapes of the "CORTE BRA" farm are carefully selected in the vineyard and harvested in small boxes which are then dried for about 3-4 months in a dry and well ventilated area. To achieve the ideal degree of drying is a supplementary selection of grapes of which only the best are used in the production of this wine. This is followed by fermentation in thermo stainless steel tanks. Fermentation lasts for about 30 days to allow the full development of a 'high-alcohol wine. After an initial evolution in cement tanks for a few months (in order to allow for the malolactic fermentation) the wine then begins the aging in oak barrels of small and medium size for at least 4 years. After bottling the wine is aged for at least 6 months in the bottle.

Tasting notes: The color is deep red with light garnet tending to brick with aging. Distinctive aroma with flavors of red fruit jam and spicy notes. Full flavored and velvety, persistent body with typical cherry enriched with notes of vanilla and coconut.

TRABUCCHI D’ILLASI

The company was bought in 1920 by Marco Trabucchi, father of Alberto Trabucchi, and grandfather of the current owner, Proffessor Giuseppe. Marco passed a farming culture on to his descendants of that helped his family and the people of this region to overcome famine caused by war.

So, in the tradition of our family we blended the two cultures, that of corn, cultivated with difficulty in stony surrounding hills, and that of the vine: both earthly goods,that man could not live without. This tradition brought forth by Alberto Trabucchi with sensibility and dedication shaped his life, always looking for the essence of things. This he in turn, handed down to his children and grandchildren.

The winery is set in a position overlooking the town of Illasi and the majestic Della Scala Castle, 22 hectares of vineyards and 6 hectares of olive groves , which extend to the apex of the hill, 140 m. A.s.l. to 300 m. A.s.l. It’s comprised of five parts, surrounded by 400 cypress trees that adorn the cultivated growing area.

The five parts are: Monte Tenda, which includes the vineyards of Dandarin, San Colombano, Castello, Cereolo di Sopra, and the part of cd Campagnina - Fongara - Bivio. The farming systems are mixed: Guyot and tent, chosen for their thermal and water equilibrium.

Amarone Riserva 2004

Variety: Autochthonous 40% Corvina Veronese, 40% Corvinone, 10% Rondinella, 5% Croatina 5% Oseleta.

Vineyards: Fund Cereolo, Monte Tenda, Castle. The altitude is about 150 m above sea level

Soil: Clay Limestone.

Winemaking: Harvest occurs the second week of September and lasts until the end of October. The grapes are dried from September to early January with an average yield loss of 50% in ventilated rooms on bamboo racks. The wine is placed in new French oak barrels with medium toast for about 18 months, and then settle in big oak barrels for another 10 months. After bottling, the wine agens in the bottle for about 20 months.

Characteristics: elegant sensations of jam tart cherries, roses, eucalyptus and ink, and then close with penetrating notes of tobacco and chocolate liqueur. Structured and powerful yet goof freshness, soft tannins with and excellent persistence

FATTORIA SELVAPIANA

Selvapiana born in the Middle Ages as a watchtower and lookout for the defense of the city of from the north, along the valley of the river Sieve.

Transformed into a Villa, in the Renaissance period it was the summer residence of noble Florentine families and the bishops of Florence. It was purchased in 1826 by Michele Giuntini, a successful Florentine banker and great-grandfather of the current owner Francesco Giuntini, who led the company from 1957 to 1997. Having always understood the value of the Chianti Rufina area with great passion and energy.

Francesco was among the first in to make wine from only Sangiovese grapes and tie it to the flagship wine of the company to a specific single vineyard: Bucerchiale. In 1979 he produced the first vintage of Chianti Rufina Riserva from the Bucerchiale vineyard. First, in 1978, to give great confidence, sensing the great capacity of internationally renowned winemaker Franco Bernabei.

Today the property is run by Silvia and Federico, son of Franco Masseti, factor in Selvapiana from 1953 to 1990. Silvia and Federico were adopted by Francesco in 1994 to give continuity to his work. Selvapiana currently has an area of about 250 hectares of which 58 hectares of vineyards, 36 hectares of olive groves and 140 hectars of woods. The land ownership is spread over three municipalities, Rufina, Pelago and .

The hills of Chianti Rufina are located on the slopes of the foothills of the Apennines. The proximity to the latter deeply affects the microclimate of the area with cooler summers and temperatures vary greatly between day and night. That allows the grapes to ripen slowly and will reach a good balance of all the aromatic components of the berry. The wines have good acidity, elegance, silky tannins and a long finish.

Chianti Rufina Riserva Vigneto Bucerchiale 2009

Grapes: 100% Sangiovese

Vineyard: single vineyard Selvapiana facing south southwest.

Soil: Medium texture, calcareous clay rich in texture, deep and fresh.

Winemaking: Handpicked. Vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 30-32 degrees, spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts, frequent pumping over and maceration for about 30 days. Aged for 15 months in French oak barrels of which 10% are new.

Tasting notes: Beautiful ruby red color with slight purple hue. The nose denotes all its youth, with intense notes of animal skin, fresh plum, balsamic notes of mint, strawberry (SB). It continues with notes of vanilla, black pepper, licorice and ripe cherries. The taste is pleasant with good structure, with alcohol and freshness perfectly balanced. The tannins are very present but almost sweet, soft and velvety at first and then in the end become a little dry. The good body keeps the alcohol in check and gives the wine good structure and a long aromatic finish

AMBROGIO E GIOVANNI FOLONARI TENUTE The Folonari family started in the wine sector since the end of 1700. In 1825 the family business became the 'Folonari Brothers' company-owned organization whose mission was to develop, produce and distribute the best Italian wines worldwide. In 1912 Italo Folonari, grandfather of Ambrogio Folonari, with his brother Francesco bought the company Ruffino, known at the time for the Chianti typically packaged in fiasco.

After World War II, some profound changes in in terms of economic growth and the standard of living were highly visible. This trend also affected the wine sector, in which the Folonari family, especially Ambrogio, were among the first to promote this new trend by producing high quality wines that helped create the "new frontier" of Italian wine. At the end of the 60s the family sold the company 'Fratelli Folonari', which was placed on the segment of table wines, and began to focus on bottled wine origin thanks to the acquisition of the famous estate of Nozzole close to Greve in Chianti, in the heart of Chianti Classico. Simultaneously they bought other estates in Tuscany with the aim of producing fine wines, including "Cabreo" conceived by Ambrogio in the 80’s. In 2000 Ambrogio left Ruffino and the rest of the family and created with his son: "Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari tenute "taking some of the best agricultural properties. The result is a group of wineries located in areas of high high quality wines of Tuscany.

Tenuta di Nozzole: Historic estate located in the Chianti Classico, in the locality Passo dei Pecorai in the town of Greve in Chianti (near Florence).

Villa di Zano: Villa Zano is an estate that opens in the hills around Greve in Chianti.

Grape variety: 70% Sangiovese 30% Cabernet Sauvignon

Vineyards: Produced from the grapes of the vineyards of the estates of Cabreo our property located in the hills of Greve in Chianti 300 mt. A.s.l.

Winemaking: Grape harvest: takes place in two different times in the first half of October the Sangiovese, and in the second half of the month the Cabernet Sauvignon. The Molino di Grace, located in the heart of the prestigious area of Tuscany's Chianti Classico region, produces critically acclaimed wines, true to both tradition and terroir. The company name comes from a historic windmill of the 19th century located next to the statue that stands in front of the cellar and that is depicted on the labels of wines of Molino. The research and the use of sustainable practices is the fundamental approach with which the production processes are undertaken. The vineyards are on land owned for over 350 years, there is an ancient Etruscan path which ends in the vineyards and the name derives from a historical reference geographical area, "the mill", located in front of the winery. The history of our land is an essential component of the present and future of Molino di Grace. All fertilizing products are organic , plowing is done only for the part of the surface (maximum 45 cm deep) every three years. Starting in 2008 we used the waste from pruning the vines to power of the heating and air conditioning, thus eliminating the exhaust gases. These are only some of the techniques used to ensure "environmental sustainability both in the vineyards and in the cellar.

A few kilometers south of Panzano are the approximately 44 hectares of vineyards owned by the Molino di Grace. The composition of the soil is "marl", a limestone from the scaly structure that crumbles resulting in soft soils, warm, permeable where the vines reaches a maximum of quality. The age of the vines varies: the existing vineyards have an average of 25 years. About 15% of these vineyards were replanted and the younger for the production have 7 years. The dominant variety is Sangiovese with small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Canaiolo. FATTORIA DI LORNANO

The Lornano Estate since 1904 owned by the Taddei family is set on the hills, southwest of Castellina in Chianti, towards Monteriggioni. The main structures are located in the village of Lornano built around the old church of which there are records dating from the ninth century. In this church, a privileged Pope Innocezo III was entrusted with the administration of other neighboring churches, and agricultural assets that they headed. It is not known exactly when the transition occurred in private hands, it is thought that the land was purchased to the first half of the sixteenth century, during yet another war between Florence and Siena. The company and annexed villa, after several renovations, bought the current structure in the second half of the eighteenth century. The LORNANO Estate is a member of the "Consorzio del Marchio Storico Chianti Classico Gallo Nero" since its foundation.

On the 180 hectares that make up the company are cultivated vines, olives and cereals. The vineyards consist of 28.50 has registered as Chianti Classico, 5.91 has registered as Chianti "Colli Senesi", 9 hectares of Rosso Toscano IGT and 2 has registered as of Vin Santo Chianti Classico. The company also has 3.50 hectares of olive groves composed mainly Moraiolo, Leccino and Frantoio. The wine is produced exclusively from their own vineyards, made in a modern winery in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature, and aged in the old cellar completely underground big oak barrels are found. All renovations that the winery undertook had to meet specific architectural constraints being supervised by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Environmental agencies.

The Lornano estate started in the late nineties renewing the vineyards and farm buildings. The vineyards of new plantation are 90% Sangiovese, of which 30 hectares are already in production while the other five will be planted next spring. Lornano intends to complete the route taken by ending the renewal of the vineyards and renovating some rooms for the expansion of the winery and increase the area for wine aging and storage of the bottles.

Vineyards: Located at an altitude of 300 meters above sea level with south- south / west.

Soil: medium consistency with the presence of stratified sand interspersed with shale, and limestone rock sourced alluvial mixed with limestone.

Domenico Poggiali bought the Felsina estate in 1966 and with a courageous act in that difficult moment of Italian viticulture chose to invest in the quality of the wine and the expertise of some young people. Passionate about viticulture and skilled entrepreneurs, Domenico and his son Giuseppe Poggiali modernized the conduct of the country side without abandoning the spirit of tradition. Within a few years the hectares grew and became more than 40 and also changed the soul and the winery’s organization.

In the second half of the seventies son in law Giuseppe Mazzocolin joined the winery with a mandate to develop the winery commercially . His culture and awareness of man's responsibility in his work contributed to the growth of the wine culture in Italy and abroad, winning many international awards.

The friendship with Luigi Veronelli and collaboration with winemaker Franco Bernabei have traced a path that has revealed great consistency in their wines from the 1983 vintage, the first is Fontalloro and Rancia and to this day under the guidance of Domenico and Giuseppe Poggiali, a journey that began in 1990 starring Giovanni Poggiali, oldest son of Giuseppe.

In 1966 Domenico Poggiali found the ancient stone cellar in the villa. It was small, with large arched brick and set in the tuff. The construction of the new underground cellar was completed in the early seventies, by connecting the barn that once housed the horses leading the estate with the underground cellar that still exists where the wines are aged. In 1998 Giovanni and his father Giuseppe Poggiali invested in technology for the vinification in stainless steel tanks and other instrumentation which allows to maintain balance, consistency and style. The great transformation in the art of wine making and aging of wines and the fundamental collaboration with winemakers and laboratory technicians did not change the heart of the winery. Jealous of his wines, meticulous and attentive to cleanliness and every detail in winter, spring and summer. He becomes the man at the center of attention with the arrival of autumn, the harvest. Fontalloro 2011

Grapes: 100% Sangiovese

Vineyards: The vineyards from which the grapes for the production of Fontalloro, are located within the Chianti Classico region at the top of Fèlsina and in the denomination of Chianti Colli Senesi (at heights between 330 and 407 meters above sea level). The vineyards are exposed mainly to the southwest, and are characterized by different terrain: rocky, limestone and clay, those of Chianti Classico; rich sands, silt, small pebbles and marine sediments, those on the border with the Crete Senesi.

Winemaking: Harvesting by hand, in two different areas, selecting the best grapes. After crushing and de-stemming the selected grapes, fermentation begins between 28 ° C and 30 ° C. The whole process of maceration in stainless steel tanks for 16-20 days with automatic punching down and pumping daily. In March-April, the new wine is transferred to new French oak barrels, after 18-22 months of ageing bottling takes place. Casalfarneto loves quality and its technological Cellar is its proof. It is a modern structure that makes use of the most advanced production methods in full compliance of environmentally friendly techniques. Essential and linear and almost invisible outside respecting the surrounding landscape with an architectural language of utmost respect. Completely buried in the hill that rises behind the vineyards, the cellar blends smoothly with the environment that hosts it without imposing or invading.

Materials such as stone, steel and wood predispose the landscape to reflect the structure appreciating the sensitivity shown in the selection choices. But beneath the surface, is the internal technology that makes it unique in the region. The whole methodology adopted is to accent the virtues of each specific grape varietal. Small stainless steel tanks are used for this respecting the characteristics of each vineyard (exposure, soil type, clone and load-bearing), as well as the different timing of harvesting the grapes and different methods of vinification. JERZU ANTICHI PODERI

In 1950, due to the interest of the Medical Officer of the times, Josto Miglior, a character who became a legend in Sardinia, with the help of other enlightened towns people founded the Cantina Sociale di Jerzu. 45 members with the best and most fertile vineyards of the Jerzu worked Cannonau grapes, the wines from the characteristic flavor and aroma, rich body and color. Symbol of the jerzesi, Cantina Antichi Poderi Jerzu, represents the culmination of a long process of a region and the intuition of some pioneers of local agricultural activities.

The roots of Antichi Poderi Jerzu are traced back to ancient history. They go back, in fact to the XII century, the first documents referring to the wine in the region. The arrival of the Spanish in Sardinia boosted production of this activity, from then on the whole community lived and strengthened its leading position in the area surrounded in the wine trade. Thus began a migration that drove many families to shift to the most important centers in the region to open their wine shops, it is the so-called "Epic of oxen carts” by means of which the wine was transferred from the village of Jerzu to new markets.

The winery is located in Jerzu, a charming village located about 500 mt. above sea level along the east coast in the heart of Ogliastra, one of the most beautiful areas of Sardinia. The area is characterized by green hills, white, sandy beaches, coves immersed in nature, valleys and mountains with typical limestone heels and ancient woods that frame the Nuraghi Tombs of the Giants and the Domus de Janas, convincing evidence of a ancient civilization. The mountain also offers a lush landscape made of Mediterranean flora and fauna.

The zoning of the Cannonau varietal of Antichi Poderi Jerzu was devised with the leadership of the winery together with winemaker Franco Bernabei and have created with the aim of giving a more complete and better use of the grapes produced. Scientific work on the one hand enhances, highlights and characterizes the attitude of the various wine producing areas of the district and on the other is the starting point for a new enhancement of the Cannonau varietal of Jerzu.

Cannonau Riserva Josto Moglior 2010

Grapes: Cannonau selected in the best vineyards of Antichi Poderi Jerzu from vines grown sapling around 50 years old at an altitude of 400-500 meters.

Fermentation: Controlled temperature tanks with pressing soft combined with the technique of "delestage". The maceration is conducted for about 20 days with recovery of the polyphenolic fraction through soft pressing of the marc. Aging in barrels of 225 liters and bigger 500 liter barrels for 14 months, followed by a period of aging in bottle (about 6 months).

Tasting notes: Ruby red color with garnet. Its bouquet is intense, persistent and spicy floral notes, Mediterranean and hints of vanilla and cinnamon. Fruity, intense, with balanced tannins and enveloping.
