PDF of Itinerary & Wines Distributor Retreat 2019 2019 Distributor Retreat The Elk Cove Distributor Retreat pulls together wine professionals from different wholesalers around the US and our international markets for a weekend of tastings, seminars and vineyard tours. The intent of the weekend is to provide small, group insight into Elk Cove and Oregon as a whole. This time offers a reciprocal opportunity for suppliers and distributors to connect one-on-one, and participants will return to their markets with enhanced knowledge and first-hand stories to help them sell Oregon wines. Attendees will get to know the entire Elk Cove team as we taste both library and new wines with delicious, Oregon-centric meals. To round out the weekend, we'll enjoy a day visiting the beautiful Columbia River Gorge! Friday, August 2nd An Elk Cove staffer will meet you at the airport and transport you to your weekend accommodations, then immediately to our Elk Cove Welcome Reception. During the Reception, our winemaker, Adam Campbell, will take you on a tour of the Estate Vineyards and wine making facility, including a pre- release tasting of our Pinot Noirs. Following the Reception, we’ll be joined by representatives from several other Oregon wineries whom we share with you. We will enjoy a history lesson on the Oregon Wine Industry and a tasting of various current release wines from Oregon. Dinner will be served at the winery with stunning views of our oldest vineyard blocks. A shuttle will take you back to your lodging to rest up for the busy weekend. Saturday, August 3rd Vans depart this morning to our Mount Richmond Vineyard in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. After enjoying breakfast and the view at the Mount Richmond Dome, we will make our way to our newest vineyard, Goodrich, for a pruning demonstration. Then we'll return to the Winery Estate where we'll enjoy a seminar, lunch, and a highly anticipated tasting of library Rieslings. You’ll have a little time late afternoon for R&R before heading to Five Mountain Vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains. There, Adam will give us a tour of his family’s home site overlooking the beautiful Five Mountain Vineyard. We’ll finish up the day with a Salmon Bake dinner and swimming at the vineyard pool! Sunday, August 4th After packing up all your gear, the vans will depart for the hour-long drive through the Willamette Valley to our Clay Court Vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains. Once there, we'll enjoy a tasting and brunch at the home of Adam's parents, Pat and Joe Campbell. Following brunch, we leave wine country and caravan east through the majestic Columbia River Gorge for a wild ride on the White Salmon River! For those who'd rather skip rafting, there will be a Downtown Portland adventure as well. After shooting the rapids, we’ll head to a casual dinner at a local favorite in Portland where we will be able to unwind and swap stories from the weekend. Vans will take you to the airport hotel. Monday, August 5th Shuttles from the hotel can take you to the airport whenever you are ready. If you plan to stay in Oregon longer, please let us know and we can help you with other arrangements. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Todd, Cam, Dani, Claire or Shirley anytime! 382 Book and Film Reviews VIVIAN PERRY and JOHN VINCENT: Winemakers of the Willamette Valley: Pioneering Vintners from Oregon’s Wine Country. American Palate, Charleston, South Carolina, 2013, 160 pp., ISBN: 978-1609496760 (paperback), $19.99. CILA WARNCKE: Oregon Wine Pioneers. Vine Lives Publishing, Portland, Oregon, 2015, 234 pp., ISBN: 978-1943090761 (paperback), $19.99. Admittedly, it was hard to write a dispassionate review of books that so lovingly describe the region in which I live and so admiringly profile many of my acquain- tances in the Oregon wine industry. Therefore, I used as measures of merit how well each echoed my impressions of this most beautiful area and its people, and whether each accomplished its objectives. Perry’s and Vincent’s Winemakers of the Willamette Valley (WWV) “is meant to showcase the stories of a handful of Oregon’s many Willamette Valley winemakers” (WWV, p. 11). A foreword by Chehalem founder Harry Peterson-Nedry sets the per- sonal tone that pervades those stories. Next, in a mere eight pages of text, the first chapter, “History of the Willamette Valley Wine Region,” covers the climate, soil, grape selection, craftsmanship, industry structure and early success in sufficient detail to provide valuable context. The authors then share intimate interviews with eighteen vintners and vignerons. Within each chapter named for one or two wine- makers are brief descriptions of the wineries that each is affiliated with. These include year founded, ownership, varietals, tasting room location, hours and con- tacts. Sustainability features, a point of pride in the Oregon wine industry, are also listed.

  • Age Is Just a Number. It´S Totally Irrelevant, Unless of Course, You Happen to Be a Bottle of Wine!
AGE IS JUST A NUMBER. IT´S TOTALLY IRRELEVANT, UNLESS OF COURSE, YOU HAPPEN TO BE A BOTTLE OF WINE! - JOAN COLLINS WELCOME TO THE WINE SELECTION OF NORDA! This is a predominately American wine list. We serve wine from all over America but mainly from Oregon. Oregon are bordered by Washington on the north and California in the south. We also serve amazing Riesling from New York State on the east coast. In the kitchen we focus on the combination of the Swedish West coast and the East coast in America and our wine list’s ambition is to make a full circle. We can proudly say that we have the largest selection of Oregon wine on our list, outside of Oregon of course. Pinot Noir is the main grape variety in Oregon and we hope you will revel our wide range of delicious Pinot Noirs. If you are up for European wine we have the classics and some great wildcards once in a while. Enjoy, and remember seven days without wine makes one weak! On behalf of the Oregon wine industry, the Oregon Wine Board is pleased to inform that the restaurant Norda has won a 2017 Oregon Wine A-List Award. The A-List Awards is a partnership between the Oregon Wine Press and the Oregon Wine Board recognizing restaurants across the world displaying enthusiasm for Oregon wine and a deep appreciation of the diverse regions, varieties and producers of Oregon. Wines marked green are LIVE-certified.
