Previous meetings • Carlos Tévez scored three of the four goals when the teams met in the 2014/15 UEFA Champions League group stage. The Argentinian got both (59, 90) in a 2-0 Juventus win in Turin on Matchday 1, then struck in the 88th minute in Sweden on Matchday 5 after Fernando Llorente had given Juve a 49th-minute advantage. • Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci played 90 minutes in both matches for Juventus, with Erdal Rakip a late Malmö substitute in each game. Form guide Malmö • Malmö claimed their 21st Swedish title in 2020, their fifth triumph in the last eight Allsvenskan campaigns. They were beaten 2-1 by IFK Göteborg in the Swedish Cup final on 30 July 2020, denying them a first domestic double – and first cup win – since 1989. • Jon Dahl Tomasson's side booked their third appearance in the UEFA Champions League group stage by edging through against Riga (1-0 h, 1-1 a) and HJK Helsinki (2-1 h, 2-2 a) in this season's first and second qualifying rounds respectively before winning 2-1 home and away against Scottish champions Rangers in the third qualifying round. They then saw off Bulgaria's Ludogorets in the play-offs (2-0 h, 1-2 a). • Malmö's two previous UEFA Champions League group stage campaigns came in 2014/15 and 2015/16 – the latter the last time a Swedish club appeared at this stage. • Malmö finished fourth in their section on both previous group appearances, winning one game and losing the other five in each instance. Both victories came at home, against Olympiacos in 2014 (2-0) and Shakhtar Donetsk 12 months later (1-0). Those were two of only three group games in which the Swedish side scored. • Malmö's 2020/21 European campaign lasted four matches. They eased through the first three UEFA Europa League qualifying games without conceding a goal, beating Cracovia (2-0) and Lokmotiva Zagreb (5-0) at home in the first and third qualifying rounds respectively either side of a 2-0 win at Honvéd in the second qualifying round, but then went down 3-1 at home to Granada in the play-offs. • Those 2014 matches with Juventus were Malmö's first against an Italian club since a famous win against Inter in the 1989/90 European Cup first round (1-0 h, 1-1 a). Although they have lost five of their ten games with Serie A sides overall (W2 D3), both wins have come at home, the other a 2-1 defeat of AC Milan in the 1968/69 European Cup first round (3-5 agg). Juventus • A team coached by Andrea Pirlo won five of their six games in last season's group stage, snatching first place in Group G with a 3-0 victory at Barcelona on Matchday 6. • For the second season running, however, Juventus bowed out on away goals in the round of 16, losing on aggregate to Porto (1-2 a, 3-2 h aet) having suffered the same fate against Lyon in 2019/20 (0-1 a, 2-1 h). • Juve's record run of nine successive Serie A titles was ended by Inter in 2020/21. • Pirlo was replaced as Juventus coach in the summer, Massimiliano Allegri returning to the club he led to the 2015 and 2017 UEFA Champions League finals during his previous spell in charge between 2014 and 2019. • Juve's only other games against a Swedish club came in the 2004/05 UEFA Champions League third qualifying round, a 6-3 aggregate success against Djurgården (2-2 h, 4-1 a). Links and trivia • Swedish international Dejan Kulusevski has been a Juventus player since 2020. He came through the ranks at Brommapojkarna in his homeland, joining in 2006, but never played professionally in Sweden and left in 2016 to join Atalanta. • Felix Beijmo played alongside Kulusevski at Brommapojkarna. • Malmö coach Tomasson played for AC Milan between 2002 and 2005, scoring 22 goals in 75 Serie A games. He scored once, in a 1-1 draw in Milan in 2003/04, in his two games against Juve. 4 Malmö FF - Juventus Tuesday 14 September 2021 - 21.00CET (21.00 local time) Match press kit Malmö New Stadium, Malmo • Have played in Italy: Niklas Moisander (Sampdoria 2015/16) Anders Christiansen (Chievo 2015) • Jo Inge Berget was an Udinese player between 2008 and 2011 but never played for the first team. • International team-mates: Romain Gall & Weston McKennie (United States) Martin Olsson & Dejan Kulusevski (Sweden) Felix Beijmo & Dejan Kulusevski (Sweden U21s) Anel Ahmedhodzic & Dejan Kulusevski (Sweden U21s) Peter Gwargis & Dejan Kulusevski (Sweden U17s) • Álvaro Morata scored a penalty in Spain's 3-0 win against Sweden in a UEFA EURO 2020 qualifier on 10 June 2019.
