The visitors were awarded three penalties in the first half, converting only one, before Ivan Rakitić levelled before the break, also from the spot – the first UEFA Champions League match to feature four penalties. Sevilla lost Youssef En-Nesyri to a red card early in the second half, but held on for a point. Form guide Wolfsburg • Wolfsburg are making their third group stage appearance, after 2009/10 – when they failed to progress to the round of 16 – and 2015/16, when they reached the quarter-finals. • The Wolves were first in their section six years ago, collecting 12 points from a group that also included Manchester United, PSV Eindhoven and CSKA Moskva. They beat Gent in the round of 16 (3-2 a, 1-0 h) before being thwarted by eventual winners Real Madrid in the last eight (2-0 h, 0-3 a). • Wolfsburg have since featured in the UEFA Europa League twice; they were eliminated by Shakhtar Donetsk in the 2019/20 round of 16 (1-2 h, 0-3 a). • In 2020/21, the German club were 4-0 winners at Albania's Kukës in the one-off second qualifying round before a 2- 0 home victory against Desna Chernihiv; they then lost 2-1 at AEK Athens in their play-off. • The German club have won three of their last four home European games (L1) and their last five UEFA Champions League matches in their own stadium. • Wolfsburg were fourth in the 2020/21 Bundesliga, their highest finish since ending as runners-up in 2014/15. • Wolfsburg's last game against a Spanish side was also their last in the UEFA Champions League before this season, the 3-0 loss at Real Madrid in the 2015/16 quarter-final second leg that confirmed a 3-2 aggregate defeat. • The 2-0 win in the first leg of that tie was Wolfsburg's second in their three home games against Spanish visitors. They also beat Villarreal 4-1 in the 2009/10 UEFA Europa League round of 32 second leg, having lost 3-2 at home to Atlético de Madrid in the 1999/2000 UEFA Cup third round first leg. Sevilla • Sevilla are in the UEFA Champions League group stage for the seventh time, and the fifth in the last seven seasons. They have qualified for the knockout phase in all but one of their participations. • In 2020/21, Julen Lopetegui's team finished second in Group E behind eventual champions Chelsea, picking up 13 points – one fewer than the English club. Sevilla were beaten 4-0 at home by Chelsea on Matchday 5, their heaviest European defeat in their own ground. • Sevilla then lost to Borussia Dortmund in the round of 16 (2-3 h, 2-2 a). • The draw at Dortmund made it seven away UEFA Champions League games without defeat for Sevilla (W3 D4), since a 5-1 reverse at Spartak Moskva on Matchday 3 in 2017/18. • Fourth in Spain for the second season in a row in 2020/21, Sevilla won their section in each of their first two UEFA Champions League campaigns and, after finishing third in 2015/16 – when they went on to complete a hat-trick of UEFA Europa League wins – they have been group runners-up in their three most recent seasons in the competition. • Sevilla have lost only six of their 25 games against German opposition (W12 D7) although they have been beaten in four of their last six such fixtures (D2).

Standard de Liège. Previous meetings • Alan made the breakthrough on 36 minutes when the sides met for the first time on matchday one, but Jonatan Soriano stole the show with a 35-minute hat-trick in a 4-0 win for Salzburg – the fourth fastest treble in the competition. Steven Gerrard's 13-minute hat-trick for Liverpool FC against SSC Napoli in November 2010 remains the quickest. • That encounter was Elfsborg's first meeting with Austrian opposition and Salzburg's first encounter with a Swedish side. • This will be the 19th game between men's clubs from Austria and Sweden in UEFA competition; Austrian teams have had marginally the better of the previous 18, with the record W9 D3 L6.

Overall records • Chelsea in 2012/13 are the only defending champions to fail to get through a group stage since the UEFA Champions League began. (This record, like the others, includes the seasons between 1999/2000 and 2002/03 that featured a second group stage). In 1992/93, Barcelona were the reigning European Champion Clubs' Cup holders and lost 4-3 on aggregate in the second round to CSKA Moskva. • In 2016/17 Real Madrid became the first team to successfully defend the UEFA Champions League trophy, with AC Milan (1989, 1990) the previous club to win consecutive European Cups. Milan (1994, 1995), Ajax (1995, 1996), Juventus (1996, 1997) and Manchester United (2008, 2009) all returned to the UEFA Champions League final as holders only to lose. • Real Madrid then made it three wins in a row in 2017/18, becoming the fourth club to win three or more successive titles in European Cup history, and the first to do it twice. • Only two teams have ever won the UEFA Champions League on home soil: Borussia Dortmund (1997, final in Munich) and Juventus (1996, final in Rome), while Manchester United lost the 2011 final in London and 12 months later Bayern München were beaten in the showpiece in their own stadium, the Fußball Arena München.

UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE - 2017/18 SEASON MATCH PRESS KITS Östersund Arena - Ostersund Thursday 15 February 2018 19.00CET (19.00 local time) Östersunds FK Round of 32, First leg Arsenal FC Match background 2 Legend 4 1 Östersunds FK - Arsenal FC Thursday 15 February 2018 - 19.00CET (19.00 local time) Match press kit Östersund Arena, Ostersund Match background There is a touch of footballing romance in the air as European debutants Östersund, led by unsung English coach Graham Potter, entertain the Premier League aristocrats of Arsenal in the first leg of the round of 32. • The Swedish side have already played a dozen matches in their maiden European adventure, qualifying as the runners-up of Group J behind Athletic Club – and only on head-to-head records after both amassed 11 points. Arsenal, meanwhile, cruised through their first UEFA Europa League group stage, clinching top spot in Group H with a game to spare. Previous meetings • The two clubs have never met in European competition, and Östersund have yet to face opposition from England. • Arsenal have posted three wins and a draw in their four encounters with Swedish opponents. In each season that they have faced a team from Sweden, they have gone on to reach a European final – and lose it on penalties after a goalless draw. • The Gunners defeated IFK Göteborg 5-1 on aggregate in the 1979/80 European Cup Winners' Cup quarter-finals en route to losing the final on spot kicks to Valencia in Brussels. Twenty years later they were shoot-out sufferers once again against Galatasaray in Copenhagen in the final of the UEFA Cup, having beaten AIK home (3-1, with Fredrik Ljungberg among the Gunners' scorers) and away (3-2) in the UEFA Champions League first group stage.
