Coreldraw® International Design Contest (The “Contest”) OFFICIAL RULES CorelDRAW® International Design Contest (the “Contest”) OFFICIAL RULES BY PARTICIPATING IN THE CONTEST, ENTRANTS ACCEPT AND AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THE FOLLOWING RULES: 1. NO PURCHASE, PAYMENT OR DONATION IS NECESSARY. A purchase, payment or donation will not increase or improve your chances of winning. 2. ELIGIBILITY: Employees, representatives and agents of Corel Corporation, its subsidiaries and affiliates (“Corel”) and their immediate families (and those living in the same household) are ineligible to participate. The Contest is subject to all federal, local, provincial, state and governmental laws, rules and regulations. Entrants must be over the age of majority in the jurisdiction in which they reside. The Contest is void in the Canadian province of Quebec, the U.S. States of Rhode Island, Maine, Florida, and Puerto Rico and where prohibited by law, rule or regulation. 3. DURATION OF CONTEST: The Contest is open continuously from 0000h EST on February 3, 2009 to 2359h EST on May 31st, 2009 Corel’s computer is the official time keeping device for the receipt of entries for this Contest. 4. HOW TO ENTER: Contestants can download a free trial version of CorelDRAW® Graphics Suite from the Corel website or use their existing version of CorelDRAW® and/or Corel® PHOTO-PAINT™ to create a new design that fits into one of the following six (6) categories: (i) Advertising/Marketing Material (ii) Promotional Items/Awards/Personalization, (iii) Vehicle Wraps, (iv) Textile and Fashion Design, (v) General Illustration and Fine Art. The sixth category, (vi) Student/Academic, is reserved for Entrants that are currently registered in a Secondary or Post Secondary Academic Institution. Entries in the Student/Academic category may be any design type. Entries must be created using either CorelDRAW and/or Corel PHOTO-PAINT. Each Contestant may only enter one (1) design in each category, under this Section 4, or five (5) designs in total. Those that qualify in the Student/Academic category may enter one (1) design in the Student/Academic category. All entrants may not enter the same design in more than one (1) category. The entries must be in one of the following file formats, .CDR or .CPT. The entries received by Corel under the below Section A will be gathered and combined and only three (3) winners for each category and one (1) overall grand prize winner from all combined entries will be selected. You may enter the Contest as follows: A. ONLINE: Using the online form available at www.corel.com/coreldrawdesigncontest you may enter the Contest by submitting your design as a .CDR, or .CPT file, created using CorelDRAW and/or Corel PHOTO-PAINT in one or all of the categories listed above; with the exception of the Student/Academic category. Entrants who submit entries to the Student/Academic category must be currently registered in a Secondary or Post Secondary Academic Institution. Entrants must also provide your first and last name, mailing address, city and country of residence, postal code, email address and daytime phone number to Corel Corporation. Please note the attachment size limit for entries is 50MB. All entries will be opened by Corel using CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4. All fonts included in the design must be converted to curves. Corel assumes no responsibility for late, lost, or misdirected entries. 5. PRIZE(S) AVAILABLE and ODDS OF WINNING: Each entry received by Corel as set out in Section 4 may be eligible to win the prizes set forth in this Section. PRIZE SELECTION: Three (3) prize winners will be selected by a panel of judges, from each category: 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place, eighteen (18) winners overall, from among all eligible entries received. From the 1st place winners in each of the six (6) categories, one (1) overall grand prize winner will be selected by a panel of judges, to be held on or about July 15th, 2009, conducted by Corel or its designee. Winners will be chosen by the decision of the judges of the promotion, whose decisions will be final in respect of any matters relating to the promotion. The winners will be notified by e-mail, telephone or postal mail shortly after the Contest closes. If a winner cannot be located or does not respond to e-mail, mail or voice contacts within fourteen (14) days of the drawing, his/her prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternative entrant. Where required by law, the selected entrant may be required to answer, unassisted, an arithmetical skill testing question and such skill testing question must first be determined by Corel to be correct prior to being declared a winner. In the event the question is answered incorrectly, the prize will be awarded to the next selected winner (subject to correctly answering the skill testing question if applicable) and additional winners will be selected until all prizes have been awarded. The prize winners may be required to execute and return an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release, where lawful, within twenty-one (21) days of notification.

Answer: Here are some general guidelines: If the images are for the Web or online, use JPEG, PNG, or GIF. If the images are for print, use TIFF (but- here in com tech unless I tell you other wise use jpeg) If you want to keep a version that remains editable, choose your software's native file format. (PSD for Photoshop, PSP for Paint Shop Pro, CPT for Corel Photo-Paint, etc.) Here are brief descriptions of common graphics file formats, with links to follow for more information: JPEG - JPEG is best for photos when you need to keep the file size small and don't mind giving up some quality for a significant reduction in size(Generally here in com tech we can’t see the difference). JPEG is not suitable for images with text, large blocks of color, or simple shapes, because crisp lines will blur and colors can shift. Generally, an empty threat as it relates to the end user and web developer, but was one of the reasons for the emergence of the PNG format.
