La Salle, a men's college since its founding by the Brothers of the Christian Schools in 1863, will welcome its first women students to its evening division for the spring term. The coeds will b® among some U00-500 new freshmen. The evening college expects a record spring enrollment of well over 3,000 students when classes resume Wednesday, Feb. 1, Registration is scheduled for Jan. 25-31 from 7-9 P.M. each evening. Registration for the day division, which accepts no mid-year freshman class, is slated for Jan. 23-27, with spring semester classes beginning Monday, Jan. 30. Total enrollment, including the day school's 3,100 students, should exceed the record 6,200 students set in 1965. -

Not only did people fear the loss of life and limb but the very nature of their existence came into question. While deemed the “cold” war due to the lack of a direct military conflict, battle is not all that constitutes a war. A war of ideas took place. Despite the attempt to eliminate outside influence, both East and West felt the impact of each other’s cultural movements. -

He has received six Grammy Awards, the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music, been inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Known as "Van the Man" to his fans, Morrison started his professional career when, as a teenager in the late 1950s, he played a variety of instruments including guitar, harmonica, keyboards and saxophone for various Irish showbands covering the popular hits of the day. He rose to prominence in the mid-1960s as the lead singer of the Northern Irish R&B band Them, with whom he recorded the garage band classic "Gloria". His solo career began under the pop-hit oriented guidance of Bert Berns with the release of the hit single "Brown Eyed Girl" in 1967. -
