Designated Appletini The designated appletini is a non-alcoholic version of the apple martini. It is perfect for those evenings when you don't feel like drinking, or when you simply want a great cocktail without the booze. This mix adds sweet, sour and spice to apple juice. If you like, it can be spiked by replacing some of the apple juice with your favorite spirit, gin or vodka works best. Ingredients Steps to Make It • 2 ounces apple juice (freshly pressed)* 1. Rim a chilled cocktail glass with • 1/2 ounce cinnamon simple syrup (see granulated sugar. recipe below) 2. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail • 1/4 ounce lemon juice shaker. • Garnish: sugar (for rimming) 3. Add ice and shake well. • Garnish: 1 apple slice 4. Strain into the prepared glass. 5. Garnish with an apple slice. * To make this an alcoholic drink, replace 1 1/2 ounces apple juice with gin or vodka of your preference and only use 1/2 ounce apple juice in recipe with other listed ingredients. Cinnamon Simple Syrup Making a flavored or infused syrup is quick and easy and allows you to have something delicious on hand to add to your special cocktail. Here are a few other uses for this versatile, sweet syrup: • use in cocktails • stir into coffee, hot tea, and hot cider • stir into oatmeal and yogurt • drizzle on pancakes or waffles • drizzle on ice cream Ingredients • cinnamon sticks • 2 parts granulated sugar • 1 part water Steps to Make It 1. Add ingredients to a small saucepan. Bring mixture to boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce to low and slowly simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes. 2. Remove from heat and cool in pan for 1 hour. 3. Pour through fine wire mesh strainer to remove any bits of cinnamon. 4. Store in a jar in the refrigerator for 1-2 months. .
