MISSOULA--
A trumpet solo featuring Larry Lockwood and a trumpet duet by Lockwood and Mary Karis
will highlight Wednesday's performance by the Missoula City Band.
The free band concert, which will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, at Bonner Park, will
include a number of patriotic works by American composer John Philip Sousa. Alex Stepanzoff,
chairman of the University of Montana Executive Board, who is now in his 33rd year as
director of the Missoula City Band, will conduct Wednesday's program.
Concert music Wednesday will include the trumpeting arrangement of "The Star-Spangled
Banner" by Henry Fillmore; "National Emblem March" by Bagley; "The Iron Count" overture by
King; nvictory" (American selection) by Paul Yoder; "Semper Fidelis March" by Sousa.
And, "Battle Hymn of the Republic," with setting by Peter J. Wilhouskey; the "George
Washington Bicentennial March" by Sousa; "Yankee Rhythm," a medley by Mayhew Lake, and
"The Stars and Stripes Forever" by Sousa.
Lockwood will be the featured trumpeter during "The Wanderer," a polka by Fred P.
Harlow. The Lockwood-Karis presentation will be highlighted during "The Two Imps," a
trumpet duet by Kenneth J. Alford.
