Plastics Lamination Applications Manager Your Job ► Lead the Technology and Innovation effort to formulate and manufacture new products and develop new capabilities that leverage the company’s existing competencies, supplier relationships, and market needs ► Validate technical efficacy of new product introductions with internal functions, Customers and Value system participants by leading cross functional project teams ► drive the Technology process for developing new products and lead project teams to deliver technical solutions for commercial opportunities ► conduct penetrating information gathering research meetings with polymer manufacturers, services providers, and equipment vendors; identify technologies and products that can drive growth with our customers and provide a distinct competitive advantage ► understand and participate in strategic initiatives of our key customers and suppliers, driving necessary joint development activities ► support and engage equipment vendors and lidding/film companies to define win-win technology driven commercial opportunities ► provide regular updates (monthly and quarterly) on project status, progress and targets ► guide development of company technology based upon market information and the strategic initiatives and needs of current and potential customers ► collaborate with Sales Team members to support the market introduction of new products and business models ► travel with Sales to provide Customer Development support (Travel may be up to 50% of time) collect Voice of the Customer data ► Other duties, as assigned Your Profile ► Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in Chemical/polymers engineering or packaging/plastics field is required ► 7 – 15 years of experience in plastics engineering and/or manufacturing with polymers (film and sheet production methods, thermoforming, and/or injection molding) required ► proven track record of driving products through the full development cycle (concept to commercialization) ► strategic visionary with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and strong operational focus ► well-organized and self-directed individual who is "politically savvy" and a team player ► intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of an organization and possesses excellent communication skills ► ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics ► expert in plastics technologies and polymer platforms, preferably in food laminate products used for form/fill/seal packaging technologies ► project management experience required ► ability to collaborate and lead teams > must be able to work with others and cross functional boundaries ► skilled in identifying and developing new technologies/product performance and developing new proprietary products with value system participants ► understands the market(s), customers, and value system ► solid analytical and critical thinking skills; good organizational skills; innovative ► excellent oral and written communications skills; ability to effectively interface with all levels and types of internal and external employees and business associates ► proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, and Word ► ability to travel as required by job Your Benefits ► there will be an intense job training regarding all issues such as products, applications and manufacturing technology ► challenging and diversified job within a dynamic and international team ► FLSA Status: Exempt // Salary/Labor Grade: SG21 // EEO Job Code: 2 ► main place of work at site Gordonsville, VA, USA The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
