GOVERNMENT OF INDIA RAILWAYS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO:6723 ANSWERED ON:08.05.2003 SPECIAL PARCEL TRAINS NANDIPAKU VENKATASWAMY Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state: (a) whether the Railways has introduced Special Parcel Trains using the shadow path of Superfast Trains; (b) if so, the details thereof and the routes on which these trains are running; (c) the composition of the freight carried by these parcel trains; (d) the number of Special Parcel trains proposed to be introduced during the current year; and (a) the routes identified for running these special trains, zone-wise? Answer MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS (SHRI BANDARU DATTATRAYA) (a) to (c) : Railways have introduced Time Tabled Weekly Parcel Express trains. The details of Parcel Express trains run during 2002- 2003 and their routes are given in the Appendix. The commodities carried by these trains include both perishable and non-perishable traffic. (d) & (e) : Railways are constantly assessing the requirement for running additional Parcel Express trains. Brief Summary 1.1 Preamble: The Government of India is planning to start working on 10 world class express highways in order to boost the road infrastructure for faster connectivity between different cities. Amongst these 10 proposed expressways, Nagpur Mumbai Super Communication Expressway (NMSCE) is one proposed express highways which intends to divert and redistribute the heavy traffic on existing corridors. The proposed expressway (NMSCE) will pass through 12 districts from Vidarbha through Marathwada to Konkan regions. The major settlements which are set to be part of this plan are Nagpur District, Wardha District, Amravati District, Yavatmal District, Washim District, Buldana District, Jalna District, Aurangabad District, Ahmadnagar District, Nasik District, Thane District and Mumbai. Besides a number of villages would also be part of the proposed NMSCE. In this context, the Union Ministry of Highways and Surface Transport and Government of Maharashtra has announced the eight-lane NMSCE project. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) would be the implementing agency. The NMSCE is a top priority project in the Government agenda. The NMSCE will be designated as a Maharashtra State Highway (MSH) built on National Highway standards. It will start from Jamtha on Nagpur-Butibori road and go up to Bhiwandi near Mumbai. 1.2 Project Description: The NMSCE will be developed as a high-density corridor establishing high-speed connectivity between Nagpur and Mumbai. As a first step in this direction the Government of Maharashtra has decided to develop and strengthen the linkages and connectivity of major cities of state with Mumbai, the state capital. [email protected] Abstract In this present work we have collected various soil samples from several locations in Igatpuri tehsil of Nashik district. Various parameters such as bulk density, moisture content, specific gravity, water holding capacity, pH, total soluble salt, calcium carbonate content, etc. have been examined. The influence of (heavy) rainfall in washing out a fertile layer of soil has been concluded. The research also reveals that due to heavy rainfall various soil characteristics of Igatpuri tehsil are affected. Keywords: Bulk density, moisture content, specific gravity, water holding capacity, pH, total soluble salt. Introduction Rainfall is one of the major factors influencing the soil composition. Igatpuri is the homeland of rain. Igatpuri receives more than 3000 mm of rainfall at annual frequency. Therefore, it has a substantial consequence on the quality of land and soil in Igatpuri tehsil. Soil structure helps to predict the relationship between soil, water and plants. Soil generation procedure is relying on some intrinsic elements like parent rock, topography, climate, vegetation cover, weathering activity etc. All these components are indomitably associated and assist to ameliorate the soil formation and its healthiness. Soil health is measured by numerous aspects of soil such as bulk density, moisture content, specific gravity, water holding capacity, pH, total soluble salt, calcium carbonate content, etc. Due to heavy rainfall, detachment of soil particles marked up and resulted in higher runoff of fine eroded material to descending slope.
