Todd Gutterman - President Greetings, everyone! Welcome to the 2021 Minnesota Selects Hockey Festival! I want to acknowledge the events of the past 18 months. We have all faced many unforeseen challenges, both within and beyond the hockey world. For the safety of everyone involved, the Minnesota Selects Executive Board made the difficult decisions to cancel the 2020 Festival and delay the 2021 Festival until now. While the dates have changed for this year, players and fans will still enjoy many of the features that have made our Festival great since its debut in 1989: * No gate fee. * High-quality jerseys with player names lettered on the back. * Saturday’s Skills Competition (a fan fave!) with prizes. * Sunday’s awards program, including individual player recognition and a strong focus on recognizing our student athletes. * The college-level program with a complete history of the Festival’s participants. * A weekend of great competition, excitement, and fun! On behalf of Minnesota Selects, I want to thank our 680 players and the coaches, families, friends, and volunteers for all the time, planning, and commitment it takes to make our tournament the success that it is and always has been. It’s been a long wait, but we are excited to be back for our 33rd year! NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT US By Bridget Canning. A Creative Writing Thesis submitted to the School of Graduate Studies in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Masters of Arts in English (Creative Writing) Department of English, Memorial University of Newfoundland Abstract: No One Knows about Us is a collection of twelve contemporary short stories. As the title suggests, the characters in each story deal with secrets: relationships, longings, grudges, addictions, and trickery. For them, these secrets are simultaneously overwhelming and futile; their importance within their small worlds reflect a deeper feeling of insignificance in the greater scheme of life in a small city in a northern province hemmed on to the side of a continent. Here are a range of characters and situations set in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. The stories are mapped out in different areas of the city and move chronologically over a year, starting in fall and ending in late summer. They work together to create a small sample of life in modern-day St. John’s – one that is informed by the influences of history, economy, and weather. i Acknowledgements: This thesis would not have been accomplished without the help of the English department faculty at Memorial such as Robert Finley, Robert Chafe, and especially my thesis advisor, Lisa Moore. Thanks to the Graduate Society for their financial support. Thanks to Jonathan Weir, Deirdre Snook, and the members of the Naked Parade Writing Collective for their guidance and encouragement. ii Contents: 1. Seen, p. 1 2. With Glowing Hearts, p. 19 3.

If love were like air I'd set whirlwinds free, But as these are not love I'll just give you me. (1995) Charles Wiles www.PoemHunter.com - The World's Poetry Archive 2 .....When I Wake Up Every Morning (Best Love Poems) When I wake up every morning I always watch you for a while Then I kiss you very lightly, Watch you lips turn to a smile. Then you ask me what the time is And I whisper in your ear That the hour hardly matters When you're lying warm and near. Your smile grows slightly wider, But you turn your face away, Hide your head under the pillow, Try to cheat the break of day. Your hair wisps round about you, Flows like water to your hips, But your neck soon bare before me Feels the pressure of my lips. Then I touch you very lightly, Run my fingers down your spine, And your body gently waking Turns till eyes gaze into mine. And in that very moment, As your mouth seeks to entice, When I wake up every morning, I am lost in paradise. (June 2007) Charles Wiles www.PoemHunter.com - The World's Poetry Archive 3 .....You Ask How Much I Love You (Best Love Poems) You ask how much I love you And then you ask once more And so my love I'll tell you now As I did once before.
