2021 Mnselects Program.Pdf Todd Gutterman - President Greetings, everyone! Welcome to the 2021 Minnesota Selects Hockey Festival! I want to acknowledge the events of the past 18 months. We have all faced many unforeseen challenges, both within and beyond the hockey world. For the safety of everyone involved, the Minnesota Selects Executive Board made the difficult decisions to cancel the 2020 Festival and delay the 2021 Festival until now. While the dates have changed for this year, players and fans will still enjoy many of the features that have made our Festival great since its debut in 1989: * No gate fee. * High-quality jerseys with player names lettered on the back. * Saturday’s Skills Competition (a fan fave!) with prizes. * Sunday’s awards program, including individual player recognition and a strong focus on recognizing our student athletes. * The college-level program with a complete history of the Festival’s participants. * A weekend of great competition, excitement, and fun! On behalf of Minnesota Selects, I want to thank our 680 players and the coaches, families, friends, and volunteers for all the time, planning, and commitment it takes to make our tournament the success that it is and always has been. It’s been a long wait, but we are excited to be back for our 33rd year! Stewart-Taylor Printing @mnselectshockey 3 Tournament Rules 1. Seventeen (17) players will be rostered and dressed by each team for each game. Not more than three rostered adults (coaches and managers) will be allowed in the players box while the games are in progress. 2. Each game will consist of two stop-time periods. Each goalie will play one period of each game. Teams do not change ends at the end of the first half. Should there be a six-goal differential any time in the second period, running time will commence. Stop-time will resume when the score returns to a five-goal differential. Length of periods: 2007-2009 - 25 Minutes (resurface at intermission) 2010, 2011 - 20 Minutes (no resurface) 3. Penalties: Minor - 2 minutes Major - 5 minutes Misconduct - 10 minutes Fighting - Tournament Disqualification In the event of coincidental penalties, neither team will skate shorthanded. If a player receives four (4) penalties in one game, the player will be suspended for the remainder of that game. 4. Minnesota Hockey rules will govern all play, except as amended by the tournament rules. 5. Checking is not allowed. 6. The tag-up rule (offsides) is in effect for all levels. 7. Each team will be allowed a one (1) minute timeout per game. 8. All teams must be ready to play one-half hour before the published starting time. 9. Preliminary Round: No overtime. (Scoring: Win - 2 points Tie – 1 point Loss – 0 points) 10. Position in the medal round will be determined by points accumulated. A. Total points in the preliminary round will determine position in the medal round. B. If teams have the same point total, tie breakers will be as follows: 1st Head-to-Head competition. 2nd Goal differential in games involving tied teams. 3rd Goal differential in all games. 4th Fewest goals allowed in all games. 5th Most goals scored in all games. 6th Coin toss. 11. Medal Round (Sunday): Championship and Third Place games cannot end in a tie. A. One (1) Five-minute 4 v 4 sudden death victory overtime. B. One (1) Five-minute 3 v 3 sudden death victory overtime. C. If no winner has been determined, a 3-player shootout will occur. D. If no winner has been determined, a sudden death shootout will occur. Note 1: Goalies can be changed.     FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE WCHA ALUMNI READY FOR 2016-17 PROFESSIONAL CAMPAIGN Three dozen former Association players, representing all eight member institutions, to play for NWHC, CWHL and Minnesota Whitecaps EDINA, Minn. – Oct. 3, 2016 – Three dozen former Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) Women’s League players will start the season on the rosters of the two professional women’s hockey leagues this season. Eighteen WCHA alumni are spending the 2016-17 season playing in the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL), while 18 former Association players are competing in the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL). The NWHL season begins its second season Friday, Oct. 7, when the Buffalo Beauts host the Boston Pride, the defending champions. Minnesota and Wisconsin each have seven players competing in the four-team NWHL, while Bemidji State, Ohio State, St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth all have one player apiece in the league. Former Wisconsin star and 2012 Patty Kazmaier Award winner Brianna Decker was voted the NWHL’s Most Valuable Player during the league’s inaugural 2015-16 campaign. The 2016-17 season marks the 10th season for the Canadian Women’s Hockey League, with the opening weekend set for Saturday, Oct. 15 and Sunday, Oct. 16. Minnesota Duluth has eight former players in the CWHL, while Ohio State and Wisconsin have three alums on CWHL rosters. Minnesota has two alums and Bemidji State and St. Cloud State each have one player in the league. Former UMD star Caroline Ouellette, a four-time Olympic gold medalist for Team Canada, is the all-time leading scorer in the CWHL.
