In this Forgotten Celtic region of Northwestern Spain nature alone is not at play however. The imprint of different cultures, from the era of the Celts right down to the Modern Ages is also clearly identifiable as part of Galician culture. From Celtic Castros (Hill-forts) to the Dolmens left here by the region´s first inhabitants, the ability to work stone with the enviable expertise and craft of the master mason never seems to have been a secret in these parts. There is much to be enjoyed including it´s famous Albariño wines accompanied by rich local cuisine. -

In the case of Galician, it is particularly interesting to study varieties of Galician and Portuguese wHicH sHare a common origin but are separated by a long-standing political border. Work to date Has concluded tHat some of tHese intonation patterns present a prosodic continuum, but has also identified a large part of the Galician linguistic area where a widespread pattern is found that is unrelated to Portuguese. An approacH to the study of dialectology and linguistic cHange will be proposed which supplements traditional geoprosodic studies with sociolinguistic concepts such as contact between languages and language varieties. THis article will address Questions concerning interaction between geoprosodic variation and contact among languages and language varieties for tHe purpose of detecting ongoing prosodic change and describing prosodic convergence processes that affect coexisting language varieties in Galicia. Perspectiva Histórica Del Conocimiento Geológico De Las Rías Gallegas
Journal of Iberian Geology ISSN: 0378-102X 2000, vol. An historical review of the geological studies of the Galician rias. G. MÉNDEZ y D. REY Departamento de Xeociencias Mariñas e Ordenación do Territorio. ABSTRACT The complex problem of the origin of the Galician rias has generated an in- teresting scientific discussion which is important to know when approaching their study. -
