(I) NO MUSIC BACKGROUND/ ABRSM GRADE 1-2 Requirements

1. CHOICE PIECE You will need to prepare one song of your choice (preferably classical or from a musical). It may be a favourite song or pick one from the recommended list below.

We strongly recommend avoiding pop songs or copying interpretations by pop artists. Do pick a song which you enjoy singing, and also demonstrates your voice quality and musical abilities.

(III) AUDITIONEES WITH ABRSM GRADE 5 & ABOVE Requirements

You may sing acapella, or bring a piano accompanist (optional). The use of other instruments or pre-recorded accompaniments is not allowed.

Audition Details

Date Sun, 29 Sept 2019* Time 10:00am onwards Venue Will be announced with your audition timeslot via email

*A second audition date may be assigned when audition vacancies are filled

Process

1. The audition may include singing back several intervals or short melodic fragments as played on the keyboard, singing scales and sight-singing.

2. Auditionees will be assessed on vocal quality, ability to sing in tune, match pitch, attentiveness & diction.

A shared warmup room will be available for all auditionees as they wait their turn. Kindly use the warmup room as required, we will call for the auditionee when his/her turn is next.

Parents and families of the auditionees will not be allowed in the audition room, nor to view the process of the audition. Please wait in the holding area while the audition is in progress.

No external photography and/or videography is allowed at any time during the auditions. For internal review and qualitative purposes, we will be taking 1 photo of the auditionee and will be videographing a portion of the related audition to ensure fairness in the audition process.

Results

All auditionees will be notified of the status of their auditions.

With the number of auditionees expected, the audition results will be consolidated and released only at the end of November 2019.

All succeeding decisions on audition outcomes will be made with extensive review and are final.

Tips

1. Drink lots of water and avoid heaty food before your audition.

2. Do warm up before your audition!

3. Choose a piece you like and are familiar with. Be confident and enjoy the song! The panellists just want to get to know you better, so sing your heart out!
