Rare find with some exceptions.By ZangBetter than expected. Fuller seems to have made the best of her life, but may have embelished some of her life's story. Great read though especially about her years with Wood.5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. A full, respectable, and ACCOMPLISHED lifeBy JohnneryWith total candor, honest emotion, and more than a few flashes of slightly naughty humor, the lovely cult actress and music executive has revealed, for the first time, the full story of her association with the unforgettable Ed Wood, as well as dozens of other fascinating stories from her years in the Hollywood, Las Vegas, New York, and Nashville trenches.Although the main draw for many to this wonderfully written and beautifully illustrated book will be The Ed Wood Years, I was equally riveted to Ms. Fuller's recounting of the frustrations she encountered with a then-teenage Tanya Tucker and her somewhat ruthless father, as well as her memories of industry greats George Raft, Elvis Presley and Nat King Cole. As an unofficial music archivist and record completist, of special interest to me, too, was Ms. Fuller's work with several recording acts that worked in vain to achieve some degree of fame and stardom in the 1960s and 70s. Their stories, and some that Ms. Fuller herself, tells, are bittersweet at times, and lend an endearing touch to the work.Ably abetted by veteran celebrity biographer Stone Wallace (currently carving out a brilliant career as a western novelist) and Ms. Fuller's outstandingly mannered husband, Philip Chamberlin, this courageous lady proves herself to be a true survivor of life, with her wit, class, and strength wonderfully intact.3 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Canyon News Editor, Tommy Garrett says Stone Wallace and Dolores Fuller Are a Hit!By Jason CrawfordDolores Fuller is a name that movie fans remember a few decades back. The blonde beauty was best known to horror film fans, but she was far from a horror. The grace and beauty of Veronica Lake, but talent that equaled her beauty, she was perhaps overlooked at times for her talent because she was so striking. Some in Hollywood, like Lana Turner, often complained of similar treatment.Miss Fuller became well known for her long and distinguished professional association with notorious `50s film director Edward D. Wood Jr. and therefore decided the title for her book would be, "A Fuller Life: Hollywood, Ed Wood and Me." Like Hepburn and Spencer Tracy, this screen duo became well known around the planet. Wood Jr. was a genius when it came to finding talented and beautiful actresses to make his somewhat lackluster films much better. Fuller did that many times. She was actually very good in every film she worked on, even if the script left much to be desired. Her book is honest and thorough. Her co-author Stone Wallace, the Canadian-born author who has gusto when it comes to telling a story, manages to plot this story brilliantly. Wallace tells Canyon News, "I can't take all the credit. Miss Fuller was wonderful to work with, but just as importantly, her husband Phillip Chamberlin was absolutely incredible and has a mind like a computer. Many times he'd be the one to fill a blank spot in the story. Miss Fuller has a great relationship with him and he is not only her biggest fan but her greatest historian. I could not have done this book half as well without him. In fact, I could not have done anything without his help. He's a man I really admire and appreciate. The collaboration with Miss Fuller was made perfect by Mr. Chamberlin. I owe him a lot."Fuller was nothing if not versatile. Her career included famous actress, fashion model and dancer. But she also was well known in Hollywood as a famed talent manager and songwriter. This is one of the last of the great era stars who were trained to do it all. Fuller remains very upbeat today and her book is thorough and honest. Her candor when speaking about her many triumphs is only highlighted by the equally candid discussion of personal tragedies and disappointments that she endured in her life and career. Being an Elvis Presley fan, I was astonished by some of her songwriting and equally as excited to read about her discovery and nurturing of Johnny Rivers. But she is totally honest in her tome. She goes into detail about a very harsh and heartbreaking incident with Tanya Tucker. And look out A-listers today: Miss Fuller's watching. She finally reveals her true feelings about the unflattering performance of her in Tim Burton's "Ed Wood" by "Sex and the City" star Sarah Jessica Parker. Not only is she not pleased, she's absolutely correct in her description. After all, this lady, Miss Fuller, is a genius in addition to being overly talented and gorgeous.I could see the fingerprints of the great historian and even greater author Stone Wallace. The writer of many great tomes, which include a recent biography on George Raft, is able to navigate a star's life and history in such incredible and painstaking detail, yet still offering his innate ability to be blatantly honest. This is a skill that makes his writing very rare. It has only been seen in the last decade to be shown by Wallace and his good friend John O'Dowd, who recently wrote a bestseller on the life and death of Barbara Payton.Fuller, however, led not the tragic life that Miss Payton led. Stone Wallace is simply one of the most solid storytellers of our time. Surely it didn't hurt him that he was also telling the story of one of the most beautiful and talented stars of yesterday, with the help of her genius husband Phillip Chamberlin. Rarely since Louis B. Mayer and David O. Selznick have I seen firsthand this level of collaboration of great minds, in this case, three of them, creating such a timeless classic."A Fuller Life: Hollywood, Ed Wood And Me, The Autobiography of Dolores Fuller" is a product of Bear Manor Media Publishing.Canyon News, Editor, Tommy Garrett For people familiar with Dolores Fuller only through her work and professional association with notorious 1950s film director Edward D. Wood, Jr., Hollywood, Ed Wood, and Me (A Fuller Life) will provide readers with a surprising revelation: throughout her career, Dolores has proven her talent and versatility in numerous facets of the entertainment industry. From fashion model, dancer, and actress to renowned songwriter and talent manager, she has done it all. In her autobiography, Dolores speaks honestly and with candor about her many triumphs, professional disappointments, and personal tragedies she has endured. Her remarkable story takes you on an unforgettable journey through her virtual partnership with Ed Wood during the making of his early films; her painful discovery of Wood's transvestitism; their eventual break-up; her songwriting for Elvis Presley; her discovery and nurturing of Johnny Rivers; and her heart- breaking experience with Tanya Tucker. Finally, Dolores reveals her true feelings towards Sarah Jessica Parker's unflattering performance of her in Tim Burton's Ed Wood (1994). Filled with fascinating and humorous anecdotes about the many famous people she has known throughout her long career, Dolores' autobiography reveals the informative and highly entertaining story of her fuller life. • I Look at This Slush and Try to Remember — at One Time I Made Good
54 SHOWGIRLS, TEEN WOLVES AND ASTRO ZOMBIES HOLY WOOD! Growing up, we were always a family of movie-watchers. When my mum passed away in 2006, I devoted my only Empire editorial to how her guiding me through early screenings of The Wizard Of Oz and Psycho greatly informed my appreciation of how cinema could be artistic, scary and funny all at once. Her simple advice — ‘If a movie doesn’t grab you within 10 minutes, it’s probably not going to’ — similarly has stuck with me, both as a reviewer and a would-be scriptwriter. Dad’s appreciation of movies was less theoretical but also resonant. Two decades of watching war movies with the retired army reservist — ‘Look at that, walking on a ridge in silhouette!’ was a favourite, followed by a machine-gun noise to indicate he’d just killed all of our heroes — bred an intolerance for flagrant inauthenticity. It was also Dad, who as a salesman for publishers Harper & Row, one night brought home J. Hoberman and Jonathan MARCH Rosenbaum’s fantastic 1983 book Midnight Movies, which expanded my film reading beyond Famous Monsters, Starlog and Fangoria and opened my eyes to — and created an appetite for — the alternative cinema of George Romero, John Waters, David Lynch and Ed Wood. A year later, through his connections, Dad put me forward for a ‘Kids rate the movies’ feature in the Sydney Morning Herald. My 300-word review, of an Aussie flick called Street Hero, wasn’t exactly Pauline Kael calibre (‘The only fault I could pick, in my opinion, is that some scenes are a little unrealistic …’) but it was a start and definitely helped chart my course.

Repository: Division of Rare and Manuscript Collections, Cornell University Library Abstract: Pulp novels written anonymously and under various pseudonyms of the legendary psycho-sexual author and film-maker, Ed Wood, Jr., collected by pulp scholar Robert Legault (1950 to 2008). In addition, magazines, reference materials, posters and other ephemera. Language: Collection material in English BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE Edward Davis Wood, Jr. (October 10, 1924 to December 10, 1978), better known as Ed Wood, was an American screenwriter, director, producer, actor, author, and editor, who made a number of low-budget genre films and published pulp novels under various names. Ed Wood's fiction is as strange, idiosyncratic and out of step with his times and mores as his infamous movies. His novels inter-splice erotic segments with lengthy philosophical, sociological and psychological discourse. Rudolph Grey's biography "Nightmare of Ecstasy: The Life and Art of Edward D. Wood, Jr." (1992) and Tim Burton's biopic "Ed Wood," which earned two Academy Awards, brought attention to his life and work.
