AbOl'e: The beginning ofa long journey.

CO'lkge 4(J0 ria Fe"uJfJlg MA 0~115 t was a matter of time before we Emmanuel women arrived at 400 The Fenway, from as close as and as far way as Japan. The journey for some began sooner than for others, but we eventually all arrived at "Different Times." As the clock ticks away from the first day of orientation to the final march down the quad, students find time to win games, take advantage of the new technology offered and become strong leaders. In so many ways the saints march in to share the times of their lives. The years we spend together Above: Lenira Dosreis at are special times. Through all our experiences we grow, mature and become ready for the future. Life at Emmanuel is a simple process; we plug in the clock the day we move in. Once the clock is on, our time at Emmanuel begins, after a while we find ourselves more comfortable and we begin testing time. After we begin testing time we soon realize that times is ticking away and we eventually find ourselves ~ racing time. This year for Planning Days, the students leaders went to Horizine for Youth in Sharon. During Planning days they not only planned events, but bonded together by participating in a ropes course. The leaders learned that even though they may have some weaknesses their strenghts superseded them. They also learned to respect ones strengths and weaknesses. Together they became a supportive group that over the year will positively influence the campus .

Every year each class begins their time at Emmanuel by planting a tree on the quad. Before the tree was planted each member of the class of 1999 along, with several upperclass women progressed out of the cafeteria with their class banners and sang the Alma Matter. The ceremony continued with an inspirational prayer given by Sister Pat McSharry.· Each member of the class grabbed the shovel and contributed to the planting of the tree. All the classes participate in this final event of freshwomen orientation, showing the support that Emmanuel offers to new comers. The planting of the tree symbolizes our time spent at Emmanuel: at first like the freshwomen we are small and only have a few limbs but, through our Emmanuel experience, we like the tree grow quickly and before you know it we are a strong tree able to conquer the storms of life.

64 Different Times DEDICATION The members of the Senior Class and Editors of the Epilogue decided that this year's yearbook should be dedicated to the one person who is respected, loved and admired the most by many students and staff. Over her four years here at Emmanuel, Lynne Payson has coached the Emmanuel Saints Basketball team, has advised the Class of 1996 and Resident Hall Council, but most importantly in her position as Resi dent Co-oridinator, and Acting Resident Director. This year Lynne has added spirit, pride and enthusiasm into everyone's life at Emmanuel. This year, we felt the best way to thank Lynne would be in the following dedication. Lynne the students at Emmanuel would like to thank you for your outstanding dedication, enthusi asm and love for the students. Your helping hand and unique sense of humor has touched the hearts of everyone and has brought Emmanuel College a sense of commu nity. Through your hard work and support of programming you have brought a sense of belonging to campus. It's not often that we find a person who gives more that one hundred percent every day: who cares and who's heart is in everything you do. We hope you realize the positive influence you have on all students. Students and staff at Emmanuel commend your ability to advise with maturity and good humor at all hours of the day and evening. Lynne the students at Emmanuel respect, admire and love you! We thank you for being an excellent advisor, boss, role model and a friend. L~nne, you truly have built the finest 'community" Emmanuel will ever see and you deserve nothing less than to be thanked and honored for it. Thank You! You're the Best!!!!!!

Different Times 0 65 Senior Cap and Gown October 14, 1995

On Saturday, October 14 at 11 :30 am, families, friends, faculty, and staff, joined in the Emmanuel Col- lege "Senior Cap and Gown Ceremony". The ceremony is a traditional part of the college's "Family Weekend" festivities. The class of 1996 joined as a group in their "academic attire" (caps and gowns), in the chapel to be officially and formally recognized for the first time as the senior class of Emmanuel College. Motivational and enlightening words spoken by Maureen Ferrari, the Associate Dean of Advising and Retention, made the ceremony all the more memorable for the seniors and their families. As the chapel rang from sounds of the Emmanuel alma mater, the class of 1996 then processed out, to begin the journey of their senior year.

Different TImes 0 67 Note from the Editors

Theressa Risdal and Alison Ward took on the responsibility of being the editors of the 1995-996 yearbook, in May of 1995, in order to preserve the academic year and events for all students, but especially the Class of 1996. Our work began in July as we traveled to Conneticut for a weekend of work shops and it was then that we developed the theme "Different Times." We felt this was the best way to describe the events, classes and changes that have occurred or would occur throughout the year. We set many goals on July 16-19th but the most important goal was that we would cover the year with excellence and that we would not settle for satisfactory material. As the year progressed we crossed many challenges yet achieved our goal by changing with the times. In the past Emmanuel has always had a spring yearbook and as we pushed to meet this deadline we realized in order to achieve our goal of covering the whole year with excellence that as time advances changes happen. We decided that we had to make a change in order to produce the best possible product. So, we decided to change with the times and to produce the first fall book. Along with "Different Times" comes a different book and we sincerely hope that our coverage of the 1995-1996 Academic Year is the most effective that has ever been produced. Lastly, editing and producing this yearbook has been full of various experiences and we would just like to thank the class of 1996 for trusting us with the honor of producing your final book. We wish all the members of the class of 1996 successful futures. Thank You!!! Theressa Risdal & Alison Ward

Thank You to everyone who gave us pictures and all those who helped in the produc tion process we greatly appreciate all your work and help. During the 1996 softball season the Saints led by Co-Captain's Theressa Risdal and Deanna Webster had an over all record of 10-10. In addition their record in the GNAC conference was 6-5. Congratulations to Jen McPhail and Jen Hanson who were selected to the GNAC Tournament All Tournament Team. This year the Saints softball team was comprised of only nine players, yet they still for the first time ever, ad vanced to the GNAC semi fi nals.

Different Times 0 99 On the evening of Wednesday Feb. 6, 1996, many residents gathered in the fifth floor front wing bathroom. Together they struggled to save Blueberry. The Blueberry Blueberry was among many other fish that resided in the St. Joseph's resistant hall. His Story home was room 510, he had two roommates Kelly and Lisa. Blueberry was a well cared for and well loved fish. However, on this particular night Blueberry slipped while Kelly was cleaning his bowl. Blueberry slipped and feel down the drain. At first Kelly did not know what to do yet one by one the crowd grew quickly. Kelly called the RA staff, the RA staff called local resident and then Susan Gifford and last but not least they called SECURITY. Unfortunately, Blueberry passed away before the rescue effort were complete for no one was able to unloosen the pipes. At 10:15 PM all gathered and had a memorial service for Blueberry. This tragic event brought together the students, staff, and faculty of Emmanuel College. To this day the fifth floor will never be the same. We will miss Blueberry dearly.
