EMMANUEL . COLLEGE AbOl'e: The beginning ofa long journey. ---............. CO'lkge 4(J0 ria Fe"uJfJlg MA 0~115 t was a matter of time before we Emmanuel women arrived at 400 The Fenway, from as close as Boston and as far way as Japan. The journey for some began sooner than for others, but we eventually all arrived at "Different Times." As the clock ticks away from the first day of orientation to the final march down the quad, students find time to win basketball games, take advantage of the new technology offered and become strong leaders. In so many ways the saints march in to share the times of their lives. The years we spend together Above: Lenira Dosreis at tennis are special times. Through all our experiences we grow, mature and become ready for the future. Life at Emmanuel is a simple process; we plug in the clock the day we move in. Once the clock is on, our time at Emmanuel begins, after a while we find ourselves more comfortable and we begin testing time. After we begin testing time we soon realize that times is ticking away and we eventually find ourselves ~ racing time. We all came together to help a new group of women move In and to build a new community in the Saint Joseph's Hall. September 7, 1995 Dr. Lenore Martin (Department Chair of the Political Science Department) received the faculty excellence award, unfortunately she could not be present to receive the award. Louise Cash read Dr. Martin's inspirational speech which encouraged everyone to become more aware of the injustices in the world and to do something to end them. This year for Planning Days, the students leaders went to Horizine for Youth in Sharon. During Planning days they not only planned events, but bonded together by participating in a ropes course. The leaders learned that even though they may have some weaknesses their strenghts superseded them. They also learned to respect ones strengths and weaknesses. Together they became a supportive group that over the year will positively influence the campus . .. 6----.. --. ---- ---._ - ~r--- , ..' --~ - . ---:: To the left: Cara Murtagh & Ann Belo w: Susan Gifford makes a Roche working together. new friend. Instead of a simple activities fair, we had lunch on the quad and a Fashion Show. Most of the clubs sponsored by the Student Government Association, the Resident Assistants and all the class officers participated in this event. Each person wore a costume that expressed their specific group. The Me, Lynne Payson (Acting Resident Director),went into further I details about each group. After this fashion show the officers sat at tables and encouraged students, both commuters and residents, to get involved. This event was very successful because it allowed not just the freshwomen, but the whole campus to get an idea of what goes on outside the class room. To the right: Leah Tocci getting her mail. The Planting of the Class Tree Every year each class begins their time at Emmanuel by planting a tree on the quad. Before the tree was planted each member of the class of 1999 along, with several upperclass women progressed out of the cafeteria with their class banners and sang the Alma Matter. The ceremony continued with an inspirational prayer given by Sister Pat McSharry.· Each member of the class grabbed the shovel and contributed to
