Keltern ISSN 0005 - 805X 56 (2006) 1 S. 213-229 15.08.2006 Some new or poorly known tineids from Central Asia, the Russian Far East and China (Lepidoptera: T in e id a e ) With 18 figures R e in h a r d G a e d ik e Summary Results are presented of the examination of tineid material from the Finnish Museum of Natural History, Helsinki (FMNH) and the Institute of Animal Systematics and Ecology, Siberian Zoological Museum Novosibirsk (SZMN). As new species are described Tinea albomaculata from China, Tinea fiiscocostalis from Russia, Tinea kasachica from Kazachstan, and Monopis luteocostalis from Russia. The previously unknown male of Tinea semifulvelloides is described. New records for several countries for 15 species are established. Zusammenfassung Es werden die Ergebnisse der Untersuchung von Tineidenmaterial aus dem Finnish Museum of Natural History, Helsinki (FMNH), und aus dem Institute of Animal Systematics and Ecology, Siberian Zoological Museum Novosibirsk (SZMN) vorgelegt. Als neu werden beschrieben Tinea albom aculata aus China, Tinea fuscocostalis aus Russland, Tinea kasachica aus Kasachstan und Monopis luteocostalis aus Russland. Von Tinea semifitlvelloides war es möglich, das bisher unbekannte Männchen zu beschreiben. Neufunde für verschiede ne Länder wurden für 15 Arten festgestellt. My collègue L a u r i K a il a from the Finnish Museum of Natural History, Helsinki (FMNH) was so kind as to send me undetermined Tineidae, collected by several Finnish entomologists during recent years in various parts of Russia (Siberia, Buryatia, Far East), in Central Asia, and China. -

INTRODUCTION Early tortricid workers such as HAWORTH (1811), HERRICH-SCHHÄFFER (1856), and others pre- sented the first terminology for forewing pattern elements in their descriptions of new species. Nearly a century later, SÜFFERT (1929) provided a more eclectic discussion of pattern elements for Lepidoptera in general. In recent decades, the common and repeated use of specific terms in de- scriptions and illustrations by FALKOVITSH (1966), DANILEVSKY and KUZNETZOV (1968), and oth- ers reinforced these terms in Tortricidae. BRADLEY et al. (1973) summarized and commented on all the English terms used to describe forewing pattern elements. DANILEVSKY and KUZNETZOV (1968) and KUZNETZOV (1978) analyzed tortricid pattern elements, primarily Olethreutinae, dem- onstrating the taxonomic significance of the costal strigulae in that subfamily. For practical pur- poses they numbered the strigulae from the forewing apex to the base, where the strigulae often become indistinct. KUZNETZOV (1978) named the following forewing elements in Tortricinae: ba- sal fascia, subterminal fascia, outer fascia (comprised of subapical blotch and outer blotch), apical spot, and marginal line situated in the marginal fascia (a component of the ground colour). -

Biodiversität Von Schmetterlingen (Lepidoptera) Im Gebiet Des Naturparks Schlern
Gredleriana Vol. 7 / 2007 pp. 233 - 306 Biodiversität von Schmetterlingen (Lepidoptera) im Gebiet des Naturparks Schlern Peter Huemer Abstract Biodiversity of butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera) of the Schlern nature park (South Tyrol, Italy) The species diversity of Lepidoptera within the Schlern nature park has been explored during the vegetation periods 2006 and 2007. Altogether 1030 species have been observed in 16 sites, covering about one third of the entire fauna from the province of South Tyrol. Fifteen additional species have been collected during the diversity day 2006 whereas further 113 species date back to historical explorations. The species inventory includes 20 new records for South Tyrol which are briefly reviewed. Among these speciesMicropterix osthelderi, Rhigognostis incarnatella and Cydia cognatana are the first proved records from Italy. Further two species from the surroundings of the Park include the first published records ofPhyllonorycter issikii and Gelechia sestertiella for Italy. Site specific characteristics of Lepidoptera coenosis are discussed in some detail. Historical aspects of lepidopterological exploration of the Schlern are briefly introduced. Einleitung Der Schlern übt als einer der klassischen Dolomitengipfel schon weit über 100 Jahre eine geradezu magische Anziehungskraft auf Naturwissenschaftler unterschiedlichster Coleurs aus (Abb. 1). Seine Nähe zum Siedlungsraum und vor allem die damit verbundene relativ leichte Erreichbarkeit haben wohl zur Motivation mehrerer Forschergenerationen beigetragen, das Gebiet näher zu untersuchen. Zusätzlich war wohl die Arbeit von GREDLER (1863) über Bad Ratzes für manchen Entomologen ein Anlass die Fauna des Schlerns näher unter die Lupe zu nehmen. Dies gilt auch für Schmetterlinge, wo erste Aufsammlungen bereits in die Mitte des 19. -

New and Poorly Known Tineidae from the Western Palaearctic

The mate rial contains four species, which are described as new species: Neurothaumasia tenuipennella, Neurothaumasia tunesiella, Infurcitinea corleyi and Ateliotum larseni. From Matratinea rufulicaput Szir aki & Sz ö c s, 1990 and Anomalotinea gardesanella (H a rtig , 1950) were described and illustrated the female genitalia for the first time, from Elatobia bugrai K ocak, 1981 were described and illustrated the male genitalia for the first time. The examination of the type series of Euplocamus anthracinalis amanalis O st h e ld e r , 1936 shows, that this taxon is a new synonym of Euplocamus delagrangei R ag o n o t, 1895. There was designated and selected the lectotype for Euplocamus anthracinalis amanalis O st h e l d e r , 1936. Zusammenfassung Im Ergebnis der Untersuchung von Tineiden-Material, welches in zahlreichen Ländern der Westpaläarktis gesammelt wurde, konnten für 8 Länder Erstfunde festgestellt werden, zwei davon sind Erstfunde für Europa. Das Material enthielt vier Arten, die als neue Arten beschrieben werden: Neurothaumasia tenuipennella, Neurothaumasia tunesiella, Infurcitinea corleyi und Ateliotum larseni. Moths of Poole Harbour Species List
Moths of Poole Harbour is a project of Birds of Poole Harbour Moths of Poole Harbour Species List Birds of Poole Harbour & Moths of Poole Harbour recording area The Moths of Poole Harbour Project The ‘Moths of Poole Harbour’ project (MoPH) was established in 2017 to gain knowledge of moth species occurring in Poole Harbour, Dorset, their distribution, abundance and to some extent, their habitat requirements. The study area uses the same boundaries as the Birds of Poole Harbour (BoPH) project. Abigail Gibbs and Chris Thain, previous Wardens on Brownsea Island for Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT), were invited by BoPH to undertake a study of moths in the Poole Harbour recording area. This is an area of some 175 square kilometres stretching from Corfe Castle in the south to Canford Heath in the north of the conurbation and west as far as Wareham. 4 moth traps were purchased for the project; 3 Mercury Vapour (MV) Robinson traps with 50m extension cables and one Actinic, Ultra-violet (UV) portable Heath trap running from a rechargeable battery. This was the capability that was deployed on most of the ensuing 327 nights of trapping. Locations were selected using a number of criteria: Habitat, accessibility, existing knowledge (previously well-recorded sites were generally not included), potential for repeat visits, site security and potential for public engagement. Field work commenced from late July 2017 and continued until October. Generally, in the years 2018 – 2020 trapping field work began in March/ April and ran on until late October or early November, stopping at the first frost. -

Argyresthia laevigatella – larikspedaalmot (Lepidoptera: Argyresthiidae), nieuw voor de Belgische fauna Steve Wullaert Samenvatting. Tijdens de 2de excursie van de Werkgroep Bladmineerders in het Wijnendalebos te Torhout (West- Vlaanderen) op 26.vi.2010 vonden we een Argyresthiidae waarvan we lange tijd niet wisten om welke soort het ging. Het exemplaar werd op genitaliën gecontroleerd en gedetermineerd als Argyresthia laevigatella Herrich-Schäffer, 1855. Gegevens over de verspreiding en de biologie van de soort worden meegedeeld. During the 2nd excursion of the Workgroup Leafminers in the forest Wijnendalebos at Torhout (West-Flanders) on 26.vi.2010 we found an Argyresthiidae that remained unidentified for a long time. Recently the specimen was dissected and determined as Argyresthia laevigatella Herrich-Schäffer, 1855. Data about its distribution and biology are given. Résumé. L'exemplaire a été contrôlé et déterminé ultérieurement comme Argyresthia laevigatella Herrich-Schäffer, 1855 sur base des analyses des genitalia. Abstract Additions, deletions and corrections are made to the Irish checklist of butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera). Elachista biatomella (Stainton, 1848) is added to the Irish list. The total number of confirmed Irish species of Lepidoptera now stands at 1480. Key words: Lepidoptera, additions, deletions, corrections, Irish list, Elachista biatomella Introduction Bond, Nash and O’Connor (2006) provided a checklist of the Irish Lepidoptera. Since its publication, many new discoveries have been made and are reported here. In addition, several deletions have been made. A concise and updated checklist is provided. The following abbreviations are used in the text: BM(NH) – The Natural History Museum, London; NMINH – National Museum of Ireland, Natural History, Dublin. The total number of confirmed Irish species now stands at 1480, an addition of 68 since Bond et al. (2006). Taxonomic arrangement As a result of recent systematic research, it has been necessary to replace the arrangement familiar to British and Irish Lepidopterists by the Fauna Europaea [FE] system used by Karsholt 60 Bulletin of the Irish Biogeographical Society No. 36 (2012) and Razowski, which is widely used in continental Europe. -
