PHYSICAL TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH ID iv Acknowledgement Ten years ago, I began a fascinating journey to achieve a dream by moving to the United States to study English. I sold everything I owned and moved to Florida. It wasn't easy. I took classes to learn to speak, read and write English. After two years of studying, I felt ready to enroll in UNF’s Master’s Program and in 2014 I earned my master’s degree in Sport Management. Year after year I remained committed to my studies, however this last past year required a much more intense effort. In order to achieve my dream, I had to push harder than ever to complete my biggest race… My Dissertation. Today, I know that this unforgettable process would not have been possible without the support of family, friends, professors and staff. From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank the UNF faculty and staff who always made me feel at home. Particularly, special thanks to Drs. Elizabeth Gregg (Liz) and David Hoppey for their incredible support and kindness. Also, thanks to Dr. Renee Akbar who gave me the honor of being part of my committee and also for the fantastic teaching experience during my time in New Orleans. I am forever grateful for my wonderful Co-Chairs, Dr. Janice Seabrooks-Blackmore and Dr. Kristine Webb, who are more than friends, they are my family. Since I moved to Jacksonville, they took me in their care from the beginning of my master’s degree through my dissertation journey. They helped me, encouraged me, and believed in me and my work. Without their leadership and friendship, I would not be writing this page today. I am thankful for a group of friends, Jannefer, Wayne, Isabel, and Alejo who have always been there for me in this roller coaster of good and bad moments. When I needed to cry or laugh or simply when I needed a hug, they were there. I thank them for their unconditional love.
