Under Level 5 Water Restrictions the indoor pool will close when the outdoor pool opens. Tarago Water Supply and Sewer Assessment The recently completed feasibility study into the provision of water and sewer to Tarago village will be referred to the Goulburn Mulwaree Water Management Strategy. Précis of the Council Outreach Meeting on 12th September 2006 There was quite a reasonable turnup at Windellama Hall considering the 6pm starting time. All but 2 councilors attended, so it was good to put faces to names. After a few councilors and council staff gave their briefing, it was then questions from the floor. Most questions from various members of the public were all in relation to the state of our unsealed and sealed roads, mainly Lumley Rd, Oallen Ford Rd, and Jacqua Rd. A small briefing in relation to Ardmore Park Quarry was also given. Thanks to Cathy Meehan & Frances Knights for supper. www.windellama.com.au 41 The Windellama News October 2006 www.qualityruralsolutions.com.au RURAL COURSES IN THE WINDELLAMA AREA Presented by Quality Rural Solutions – Jane Vincent & Associates Identification & Management of Native Grass Pastures for Agriculture and Conservation Cost: $230 (GST free) $368/couple A one day workshop identifying the characteristics of local native grasses and how to best manage these grasses for agriculture and conservation. The Old Hume Highway History begins with a road Routes, towns and turnoffs on the Old Hume Highway RMS8104_HumeHighwayGuide_SecondEdition_2018_v3.indd 1 26/6/18 8:24 am Foreword It is part of the modern dynamic that, with They were propelled not by engineers and staggering frequency, that which was forged by bulldozers, but by a combination of the the pioneers long ago, now bears little or no needs of different communities, and the paths resemblance to what it has evolved into ... of least resistance. A case in point is the rough route established Some of these towns, like Liverpool, were by Hamilton Hume and Captain William Hovell, established in the very early colonial period, the first white explorers to travel overland from part of the initial push by the white settlers Sydney to the Victorian coast in 1824. They could into Aboriginal land. In 1830, Surveyor-General not even have conceived how that route would Major Thomas Mitchell set the line of the Great look today. Likewise for the NSW and Victorian Southern Road which was intended to tie the governments which in 1928 named a straggling rapidly expanding pastoral frontier back to collection of roads and tracks, rather optimistically, central authority. Towns along the way had mixed the “Hume Highway”. And even people living fortunes – Goulburn flourished, Berrima did in towns along the way where trucks thundered well until the railway came, and who has ever through, up until just a couple of decades ago, heard of Murrimba? Mitchell’s road was built by could only dream that the Hume could be convicts, and remains of their presence are most something entirely different.

27 May 2016 1400 JOBS FILLED IN HUME IN 10 MONTHS – MORE THAN 450 IN GOULBURN Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has welcomed news that 1400 jobs have been filled across Hume in the 10 months to May 2016. According to the Federal Government’s Jobactive programme, more than 450 of those jobs have been in Goulburn. “These are impressive numbers. I am strongly encouraged by these local job placements,” Angus Taylor said. “Anything we can do to encourage the growth of small business, because they’re the biggest employers in our regions, is always appreciated by the local community. “And that’s what the Government is firmly focused on, investing in important infrastructure to grow jobs, supporting small business to grow jobs and backing innovation to grow jobs. “We’ve seen a lot of investment, a lot of job creation, more building, more subdivisions, which is fantastic, right through this corridor from Sydney, through the Goulburn region, down the highway to Canberra.” “More investment in roads and telecommunications has been, and will continue to be, a real focus for me as the member for Hume. We’ve got big infrastructure projects happening in the Goulburn area, we have bigger companies moving in and this growth has to be managed. “Infrastructure improvements are real priorities. There are lots of professionals in the district who work from home for a day or two a week and reliable telecommunications is critical, which is why it’s also a priority for me.” For media enquiries contact Sarah Bucknell on 0448 111 669 jobactive Job Placements
