Some of Moorabool’s key tourism assets were showcased to visitor information centre coordinators from across the state last week. This year Moorabool Shire, Macedon Ranges Shire, Hepburn Shire and Hume City Council were chosen to showcase their offerings for the 14th annual Victorian Visitor Information Centre Summit. Run annually by the Victoria Tourism Industry Council, the summit offered an opportunity for those in the visitor servicing sector to thoroughly explore a region of the state and take part in a professional development program and networking opportunities. Participants in a familiarisation tour had the opportunity to sample some of the farm gates, wineries, gorges, attractions and cafes of the Moorabool Shire – with stops including Lal Lal Falls, St Anne’s Winery, Mill Cottage Café and Werribee Gorge. Moorabool mayor Paul Tatchell said it was exciting to throw open the gates and doors of Moorabool’s great attractions and show off the Shire’s natural beauty. “This is a wonderful opportunity to show others why Moorabool is a great place to visit and we hope the delegates who did the Moorabool familiarisation had a wonderful time,” Cr Tatchell said. As part of the three-day event, Cr Tatchell and Cr Alan Comrie represented Moorabool Shire Council at a gala dinner last Thursday night in Sunbury.
