Season Highlights

Damian Carroll, shown here giving instructions in a mid season match at Werribee, in 2013 became the fourth Coach to lead Box Hill to a Senior V.F.A. / V.F.L. Premiership.

Hawthorn listed player Mitch Hallahan became the first Box Hill Hawks player since Sam Mitchell in 2002 to win the J.J. Liston Medal. Polling four 3 votes, two 2 votes and one 1 vote; his tally of 17 votes saw him as one of three players to share the V.F.L.’s highest individual award in 2013.

David Mirra enjoyed many highlights in 2013; representing the V.F.L. against the W.A.F.L., selection in the V.F.L. Team of the Year, finishing runner-up in the Club Champion Vote Count and in the absence of injured Club Captain, Daniel Pratt, captaining the Box Hill Hawks to Premiership triumph.

Promising young ruck and key position prospect Kalem Post won the Development Team Best and Fairest Player Trophy in 2013.

Season Highlights

Liam Tobin enjoyed showed fine form as a crumbing forward in 2013 and became just the third player to play in three Box Hill Premierships; adding the 2013 V.F.L. Premiership to the Development Team Premierships that he was part of in 2010 and 2011.

2009 Club Champion Sam Iles returned to the Box Hill Hawks in 2013 after three years as a player. His outstanding season saw him finish third in the Club Champion Vote Count, fifth in the J.J. Liston Medal Vote Count and win selection in the V.F.L. Team of the Year.

Michael Osborne bookended a decorated 168 game A.F.L. career by becoming the only player to be part of the Box Hill Hawks 2001 and 2013 V.F.L. Premiership teams. He was awarded the Best Player in Finals Series Trophy in 2013.

Much of the Box Hill Hawks success in 2013 was built on the back of a dominant and stable defensive unit. Integral in this was Hawthorn listed player Kyle Cheney, who was a deserving winner of the Club Champion Vote Count in 2013. Here he is presented with the Col Austen Trophy by Grant Austen, son of the late Col Austen.
