Presse- Mitteilung PRESSE- MITTEILUNG Lilya Zilberstein: Biografie Die weltweit gefragte Pianistin Lilya Zilberstein begann im Alter von fünf Jahren mit dem Klavierspiel. Nach zwölf Jahren Unterricht bei Ada Traub an der Gnessin- Spezialmusikschule in Moskau setzte sie ihr Studium bei Alexander Satz am Gnes- sin-Institut bis zum Abschlussexamen 1988 fort. Bereits 1985 gewann sie den 1. Preis beim Wettbewerb der Föderativen Russischen Republik und war auch unter den Preisträgern des Allunions-Wettbewerbs in Riga. Seit 1990 lebt Zilberstein in Deutschland. 1991 debütierte sie beim Berliner Philharmonischen Orchester unter Claudio Abbado und legte damit den Grundstein für wiederholte Zusammenarbeit. Ihren ersten internationalen Erfolg erlebte Lilya Zilberstein 1987, als sie den Busoni- Wettbewerb in Bozen gewann. Der Sieg war eine Sensation. Erst fünf Jahre später wurde überhaupt wieder ein erster Preis vergeben. Bereits 1988 konnte die in Mos- kau geborene Pianistin große Tourneen ins westliche Ausland unternehmen. Ihre Konzertreisen führten sie in fast alle europäischen Länder, nach Mexiko, Japan, Ko- rea, Kanada und Brasilien. Auf der Liste ihres Wirkens bei Konzerten stehen namhafte internationale Orchester, wie das Chicago Symphony Orchestra, das Tschaikowsky Symphonieorchester Moskau, das London Symphony und Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, das Orchester der Mailänder Scala, das Staatskapelle Dresden und viele andere. In den vergange- nen Jahren gab die Pianistin Gastspiele in den USA, Asien, Südamerika, Italien, Großbritannien, Frankreich, Schweden, Spanien, Polen und Island und unternahm ausgedehnte Welttourneen als Kammermusikpartnerin von Maxim Vengerov. Erst- mals nach 16 Jahren kehrte sie in ihre Heimatstadt Moskau zurück, wo sie ein umju- beltes Konzert gab. Sie ist regelmäßig Gast bei den größten internationalen Festi- vals. Mit ihrer langjährigen Duopartnerin Martha Argerich feierte sie 2009 zehnjähri- ges Bühnenjubiläum mit Konzerten in vielen europäischen Metropolen. Das promi- nente Duo war 2011 auch in Deutschland zu hören, unter anderem beim Klavierfest Ruhr in Dortmund sowie bei den Festspielen Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Ulrichs- husen. In der Saison 2011/2012 gastiert die Pianistin wieder in den USA, Mexiko, Taiwan, Italien, Österreich, Frankreich, Ungarn und Polen. Über die Konzerte hinaus hat Lilya Zilberstein eine Vielzahl von CDs eingespielt: Ne- ben acht CDs für die Deutsche Grammophon wirkte sie bei der ersten CD- Gesamtaufnahme des Œuvres von Frédéric Chopin mit, die 1999 ebenfalls bei der Deutsche Grammophon erschienen ist. Auch in jüngster Zeit sind mehrere CDs ver- öffentlicht worden, darunter eine Einspielung der Brahms-Sonate für zwei Klaviere mit Martha Argerich bei EMI sowie Clementi, Mussorgsky und Rachmaninow bei Hänssler Classic.     Lilya Zilberstein è salita alla ribalta internazionale nel 1987, vincendo il Concorso Busoni di Bolzano. Fu una vittoria sensazionale e ci vollero 5 anni prima che il Premio fosse nuovamente assegnato. Da allora la pianista, moscovita di nascita e tedesca d’adozione, non ha smesso di girare tutta l’Europa, l’America del Nord e del Sud e l’Asia. È stata invitata dai Filarmonici di Berlino e Claudio Abbado per la prima volta nel 1991, e insieme hanno suonato ripetutamente e registrato per Deutsche Grammophon i Concerti no.2 e 3 di Rachmaninov. Zilberstein ha suonato con molte altre orchestre prestigiose: Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Sinfonica Tchaikovsky di Mosca, London Symphony e Royal Philharmonic Orchestra di Londra, l’Orchestra della Scala a Milano, Staatskapelle di Dresda, ecc. Ha partecipato alla registrazione dell’opera omnia di Chopin pubblicata da DGG nel 1999 e tra le numerose incisioni più recenti ricorderemo la Sonata di Brahms per due pianoforti con Martha Argerich per EMI e un cd Clementi, Mussorgsky e Rachmaninoff pubblicato da Hänssler Classic.

He had piano lessons from an early age but his serious training in composition began at the Moscow Conservatory where he studied counterpoint with Sergei Taneyev and harmony with Anton Arensky. He began to compose and for the rest of his life divided his musical time between composing, conducting and piano playing gaining great fame in all three. For the first time the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition Foundation has produced a studio album, which it has made available exclusively on IDAGIO, the streaming service for classical music. The 20-year old Ivan Krpan, winner of the 2017 competition, took to the legendary Emil Berliner Studios in Berlin to record Chopin's 24 Préludes and Schumann's ​ Fantasie op. 17 and Arabeske op. 18. Classical music lovers around the world can hear the ​ ​ ​ exceptional Croatian pianist from May 15 exclusively on IDAGIO. The Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition takes place every two years in Bolzano, northern Italy, and counts as one of the most renowned and demanding events of its type in the world. Just a few highlights: A new production of the Mozart Requiem at the Aix-en-Provence Festival; the “Loud Weekend” at Bang on a Can’s annual Festival at Mass MOCA in the Berkshires; the world premiere of Poul Ruders’s The Thirteenth Child at Santa Fe Opera, where Festivals the stage is often open to a view of the sun setting amid the Jemez Mountain range; pianist Yuja Wang (Musical America’s 2017 Artist of the Year) performing in Croatia at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival; Fabio Luisi conducting Beethoven’s Sixth Symphony in Tuscany, at the Chigiana International Festival; the Pacifica Quartet in a Napa Valley winery at Music in the Vineyards; Handel’s Ariodante at the Drottningholms Slottsteater in Switzerland. Opera in the Ozarks, in Eureka Springs, AR, has Mark Adamo’s Little Women on the docket; while the Mark Morris Dance Group will premiere a new work set to Erik Satie’s Sports et divertissements at Mostly Mozart in New York. Also, as proof that there is no spot on earth too remote for live music of any sort to thrive, the 22nd annual Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival, in the San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington, will present Susan Graham in recital while the Miró Quartet will give the world premiere of Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Kevin Puts’s latest opus.
