México ABSTRACT The genus Amblyomia Stål is revised and two new species, A. foreroi and A. prome- ceops from Colombia, are described. New host plant and distributional records of A. bifasciata Stål are given; habitus illustrations and drawings of male and female gen- italia are included as well as a key to the known species. The group feeds on bromeli- ads. Key Words: Insecta, Heteroptera, Coreidae, Leptoscelini, Amblyomia, Bromeliaceae RESUMEN El género Amblyomia Stål es revisado y dos nuevas especies, A. foreroi y A. prome- ceops, recolectadas en Colombia, son descritas. Plantas hospederas y nuevas local- idades para A. bifasciata Stål son incluidas; se ofrece una clave para la separación de las especies conocidas, las cuales son ilustradas incluyendo los genitales de ambos sexos. Las preferencias tróficas del grupo están orientadas hacia bromelias. Palabras clave: Insecta, Heteroptera, Coreidae, Leptoscelini, Amblyomia, Bromeli- aceae The neotropical genus Amblyomia Stål was previously known from a single Mexi- can species, A. bifasciata Stål 1870. In the present paper the genus is redefined to in- clude two new species collected in Colombia. This genus apparently is restricted to feeding on members of the Bromeliaceae, and specimens were collected on the heart of Ananas comosus and Aechmea bracteata. -

Parmi ces publications il convient de signaler la « Checklist » de FARACI & RIZZOTTI-VLACH (1995) pour l’Italie, celle de V. PUTSHKOV & P. PUTSHKOV (1997) pour l’Ukraine, la seconde édition du « Verzeichnis der Wanzen Mitteleuropas » par GÜNTHER & SCHUSTER (2000) et l’impressionnante contribution de DOLLING (2006) dans le « Catalogue of the Heteroptera of the Palaearctic Region ». En outre, certains travaux qui m’avaient échappé ou m’étaient inconnus lors de la préparation de cet ouvrage ont été depuis ré-analysés ou étudiés. Page | 2 RODONDO ISLAND – Oil Spill & Biodiversity Survey, January 2015 SUMMARY Rodondo Island was surveyed in January 2015 by staff from the Natural and Cultural Heritage Division of the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment (DPIPWE) to evaluate potential response and mitigation options should an oil spill occur in the region that had the potential to impact on the island’s natural values. Spatial information relevant to species that may be vulnerable in the event of an oil spill in the area has been added to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority’s Oil Spill Response Atlas and all species records added to the DPIPWE Natural Values Atlas. -

The Publication of “A Preliminary Catalogue of the Heíeropíera of the Canary Islands” by HEISS & BAEZ (1990) As a Comp
ADDITIONS TO THE HETEROPTERA-FAUNA OF THE CANARY ISLANDS 1 By E. HEISS & J. RIBES ** ABSTRACT: The present paper is a first addition to tbe preliminary cataloguo Jf the Heteropteru-fauna of the Canary Islands (HEISS & BAEZ.1990) and includes corrections, new taxonomic assignmcnts and further citations from literature and several new records. 29 species are reported as new to the Canarian fauna, but one species is a synonym (Geocoris pvbescens Jak. = G.timidus Put.) and 8 spccies are regarded as doubtíidspccies inquirenda which should be deleted from the list. This brings the total number of species known to date from Canary Islands to 333. Key words: Heteropteru, catalogue, new additions, Canary Islands RESUMEN: La presente aportación es una primera addenda al catálogo preliminar de los Heterópferos des las islas Canarias (HEISS & BAEZ, 1990). Incluye enmiendas, nuevos cambios taxonómicos, datos complementarios y numerosas citas inéditas. Todo ello se desglosa en cuatro secciones distintas dentro del segundo capítulo: referencias adicionales y cambios en la literatura, citas canarias nuevas, citas isleñas nuevas y specics inquirenda. De este acervo hay que entresacar 29 especies para incorporar a la fauna canaria, con relación a lar 3 13 inventariadas, pero una es una sinonimia (Geocoris pvbescem lak. = G.rimidus Put.) y 8 especies más se consideran dudosas, por lo que se eliminan de la lista, quedando pues un total de 333 especies que se estiman válidas. Munis Entomology & Zoology, 1 (1): 123-128] ABSTRACT: Three junior homonyms were detected amongst the Lepidoptera and the following replacement names are proposed: Neoeriocera nom. nov. for Eriocera Guenée, 1852 (Noctuidae: Calpinae), Latiphea nom. nov. for Lobocheilos Hampson, 1891 (Noctuidae: Acontiinae) and Kocakina nom. nov. for Himella Grote, 1874 (Noctuidae: Hadeninae). Accordingly, new combinations are herein proposed for the species currently included in these genera: Neoeriocera mitrula (Guenée, 1852) comb. nov. for Eriocera mitrula Guenée, 1852; Latiphea berresoides (Hampson, 1893) comb. nov. for Lobocheilos berresoides Hampson, 1893; Latiphea plana (Swinhoe, 1890) comb. nov. for Lobocheilos illattioides Hampson, 1891 and Kocakina fidelis (Grote, 1874) comb. nov. for Himella fidelis Grote, 1874. KEY WORDS: Neoeriocera, Latiphea, Kocakina, Lobocheilos, Himella, homonymy, replacement name. The purpose of the present paper is to bring the taxonomy of noctuid moths into accordance with the requirements of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (1999). It considers homonymous genus group names of noctuid moths introduced from 1758 to 2004. In an effort to reduce the number of homonyms in Noctuidae (Lepidoptera), we systematically checked all generic names published. -

Introduction The industrial revolution, globalization and international trade liberalization are some of the important events that have afforded vast opportunities for invasive insect species to establish in new territories [1]. These invasive species, facing no challenge by their natural enemies, thrive well in the new environment [2]. In addition to the disturbance they cause to the biodiversity, pest invasion in any country results in increased pressure on biosecurity, national economy, and human health management systems [1, 3, 4]. Apart from economic loss in managing them, these pests pose a significant detrimental impact on tourism and recreational value of the region, which further adds in indirect economic damage to the nation [5]. Of this large group of invasive pests, thrips are one of the most important members. The invasive status gained by thrips across the globe is due to their high degree of polyphagy, wide host range and easy dispersal that can be anthropogenic or natural (wind-mediated). The earliest fossil record of order Thysanoptera dates back to the Late Triassic period, from the state of Virginia in the United States and the country Kazakhstan in Central Asia, but their abundance was rare until the Cretaceous period from which many specimens of Thysanoptera have been recorded [6]. BENNETT2 1University of Florida, Tropical Research and Education Center, 18905 S.W. 280th Street, Homestead, FL 33031 2University of Florida, Department of Entomology and Nematology, 970 Hull Road, Gainesville, FL 32611 ABSTRACT Two hundred and ninety-six species of arthropods are associated with Annona spp. The genus Bephratelloides (Hymenoptera: Eurytomidae) and the species Cerconota anonella (Sepp) (Lepidoptera: Oecophoridae) are the most serious pests of Annona spp. Host plant and distribution are given for each pest species. Key Words: Annona, arthropods, Insecta. RESUMEN Doscientas noventa y seis especies de arthrópodos están asociadas con Annona spp. en el Neotrópico. De las especies mencionadas, el género Bephratelloides (Hyme- noptera: Eurytomidae) y la especie Cerconota anonella (Sepp) (Lepidoptera: Oecopho- ridae) sobresalen como las plagas mas importantes de Annona spp. Se mencionan las plantas hospederas y la distribución de cada especie. The genus Annona is confined almost entirely to tropical and subtropical America and the Caribbean region (Safford 1914). Edible species include Annona muricata L. (soursop), A. squamosa L. (sugar apple), A. cherimola Mill. (cherimoya), and A. retic- ulata L. (custard apple). Each geographical region has its own distinctive pest fauna, composed of indigenous and introduced species (Bennett & Alam 1985, Brathwaite et al. 1986, Brunner et al. 1975, D’Araujo et al. 1968, Medina-Gaud et al. 1989, Peña et al. 1984, Posada 1989, Venturi 1966). These reports place emphasis on the broader as- pects of pest species. Reported here are observations of feeding by 27 species of true bugs (Hemiptera: Heteroptera) encountered in various habitats in Wisconsin over the years 2003–2014. This is the first report ofAnasa repetita Heidemann (Coreidae) from Wisconsin. ____________________ Knowing what an animal eats is essential to our understanding of that animal and its habitat requirements. Over the years 2003–2014, I accumulated many observations of insects feeding in Wisconsin. These data are vouchered by hand-collected specimens given to the Insect Research Collection of the Entomology Department at University of Wisconsin - Madison.
