Welcome from the Chrysler Restorers Club of Australia Victoria Inc

Dear Fellow Club Members

On behalf of the 13th National Rally organising committee, I have much pleasure in welcoming all of our valued partici- pants to Warrnambool. This rally will provide a week for everyone to enjoy the company of friends, both old and new, all of whom share a common interest in Chrysler built vehicles. I would also like to thank our organising committee, who have volunteered their time and efforts to put together, what I believe, will be a rally that will meet everyone’s ex- pectations. During the course of the rally, a cast of many other Victorian members will be providing vital assistance to ensure it runs to plan. The final result is an event which has been 4 years in the making since the initial rally destina- tion investigation commenced.

Warrnambool, and the shipwreck coast, was chosen for its mix of history and natural beauty. It has proven to be a pop- ular venue with a near record entrant count. Of these entrants, a large number are first timers, who I am sure will return for the next rally after this experience. At the other end, there are entrants who have attended all 13 rallies and who will be able to vouch for the enjoyment obtained from the rallies over the years. There are also some interesting vehicles that will not have been seen on previous rallies.

Possibly the most important thing entrants will need to do during the rally, other than having a good time, is to read this souvenir rally book and keep it handy. It contains all of the details of the activities planned for the week, so please take the time to study it in detail.

It goes without saying that events like this are not able to be staged without the generous support of our sponsors. I am grateful for their generosity which has made it possible to make most of the activities free to entrants. All of our sponsors are listed in this book. The major sponsors are Warrnambool Chrysler , Fiat Chrysler Group Aus- tralia, Elko Performance Parts / Valiant Spares and Repair, Shannons and . I urge participants to remember the generosity of these companies when you are in the market for the products they sell.

I trust everyone has a most enjoyable week and hope you leave Warrnambool with many happy memories, lasting friendships and a safe and event free trip home.

Until we meet again in New South Wales for the 14th National Rally, happy and safe motoring.

Kevin Cook,

Welcome from Dear National Rally Participants

Welcome to the 13th National Chrysler Rally!

As major sponsor of the event, Fiat Chrysler Group is proud to be involved with the Chrysler Restorers Club of Australia, and we are sure that this year’s event in Warrnambool will be a great success.

The National Rally brings together Chrysler enthusiasts to celebrate the legendary and historical American brand. The event also provides us with an opportunity to showcase the quality, comfort and performance associated with Chrysler products. Fiat Chrysler have had an extremely successful year with the Chrysler brand thanks to the new range which is clearly the next-generation of its successful predecessor and delivers all the aesthetics and symmetry associated with being the great American road car.

On behalf of the team at Fiat Chrysler Group Australia, we hope you have a great time and remember, please drive safely.

Kind regards,

Veronica Johns,

CEO and President Fiat Chrysler Group

Welcome from Warrnambool Chrysler Jeep Dodge Dear Chrysler Enthusiasts

The team at Warrnambool Chrysler Jeep Dodge have been working diligently since earlier this year to establish a new dealership in Warrnambool selling a great range of cars from the Chrysler Jeep Dodge range. So it was really exciting to learn that the Chrysler Restorers Club of Australia would be holding their 13th National Rally just at the time when we were announcing that we are open for business.

Clinton Baulch (Dealer Principal), Andrew Davidson (General Manager) and the whole team at Warrnambool Chrysler Jeep Dodge welcome every Rally entrant to Warrnambool and hope you enjoy your time in this wonderful part of Victo- ria, while we take the opportunity to remind the people of Warrnambool and the surrounding district about the heritage of the Chrysler name in Australia.

Thank you for choosing to visit Warrnambool, have a wonderful week finding out why we love living here, and while you are here please share with us your passion for the Chrysler brand. We have been looking forward to having you here and hope you have a great week too.

 Observe all Victorian road laws and speed limits and drive within your capabilities. The speed limit in Victoria is 50kph, unless marked otherwise.

 With a large number of vehicles in the rally, your cooperation is appreciated to ensure that each event runs smoothly. Some of the places we visit will be a little crowded and the roads getting there are sometimes main highways, so be considerate of the general public who may not be aware of the benefits of travelling at a more subdued holiday pace.

 When travelling in convoy please try not to lose sight of the car in front, however it is more important to not lose sight of the car BEHIND. Hopefully there will be sufficient marshals and MOPAR MEN to guide you on the tricky intersections, but it would help if all participants are mindful of guiding the traffic behind as well.

Did You Know?

 The first meeting to start planning this rally was held in July 2009?

 The decision was made to go to Warrnambool by early 2010, in time for the announcement at the October 2010 National Tour in Renmark SA

 ...and Warrnambool Chrysler was not even thought of then!

 The budget (turnover) for this event, including entrant payments and sponsorship receipts, exceeds $100,000

 Sponsors contributed more than $20,000 to the running of this event

 Rally entries and reports were managed using a single custom written database that was maintained by various committee members via the internet.

 More than $300 was saved by using emails, when possible, to communicate with entrants instead of printed/ posted letters

 The Rally website was visited more than 7300 times (by someone or something)

 The most common entrant names are John (8) and Allan/Allen (8)

 Although the greyhound is the fastest canine going and can reach speeds of 68 kph (43 mph), this falls well short of a cheetah’s top speed of 109 kph (68mph)

Chrysler Restorers Club of Australia Page 52 13th National Rally 2013 Warrnambool Victoria 13th National Rally 2013 Page 53 Chrysler Restorers Club of Australia Warrnambool Victoria Welcome from Elko Dear National Rally Participants

Paul and the boys from Elko Performance extend their greetings and welcome all participants and spectators alike to the Chrysler Restorers Club 13th National Rally here in Warrnambool. It’s been 9 years since the last Victorian Rally in Geelong and we’re extremely proud to have the opportunity to sponsor and be involved in this prestigious event.

It truly is one of the flagship occasions in the Chrysler enthusiast’s calendar and we sincerely hope you all have a fan- tastic time and enjoy the week’s activities.

A History of ELKO:

Elko Performance began in 2003 when the owners (and massive Mopar enthusiasts) Paul Norris and Tom Kreskas saw a growing need for restoration and mechanical parts for the US built “muscle car” era Plymouths and Dodges. The tyranny of distance presented serious challenges for anyone attempting to resurrect one of these fine automobiles. Paul had an extensive background in importing cars and sourcing parts from the States and had established strong relationships with quite a few of the manufacturers. Tom had experience in restoring his own vehicles and was looking to procure parts from the US on a regular basis.

Once this mutual interest was discovered, things moved quickly and the business expanded, as more reproduction parts and suppliers came online. Now the inventory numbers in the thousands, of in stock and available items. Elko is also a manufacturer of an extensive range of high quality reproduction parts and panels to suit Australian origin Chrys- lers.

In 2012, Elko and the highly regarded Valiant Spares & Repairs joined forces, and now represent a true “one stop shop” facility for restoration, service and sales. Already this has been a productive partnership, producing “in-house” designed brake upgrades, engine conversion mounts and in the near future, supercharger packages. The company now has many design and manufacturing projects underway to improve and strengthen the capabilities of these vehi- cles in order to compete in the modern climate of high horsepower, radical design, suspension and driveline modifica- tions, making sure that the of the future are well catered for.

Now in our 10th year of trading we’re extremely pleased to see the Chrysler name riding high on the automotive scene, with more vehicles of an excellent standard than ever before on the streets, highways and show fields of this country. We thank you for all your support this far and look forward to helping you well into the future.
