Into The Woods Musselman High School Homecoming Spirit Week September 25th-29th 2017 -Fall Sports/Activities:- Football, Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Golf, Cheerleading, Marching Band, Cross Country, Volleyball, Color Guard Objective Encourage all students to show their spirit this week using the theme “Into the Woods’. During this week, classes will compete in dress-up day participation, morning competitions, pep rally competitions, fundraising competitions, and showcases. At the end of the week, the winning class will receive the Spirit Stick! On Friday, September 29th, all Applemen will come together in the pep rally and show their unity and school spirit. Have fun and enjoy the week while remembering to follow all school rules. Guidelines & Rules -Students are only allowed to work on activities before and after school. Any class working on activities during class time will be disqualified for that competition. -Faculty supervision is required for activities before and after school hours. -Class presidents will receive a sign-up sheet for all competitions. -Each student should ONLY participate in one class competition; we want to encourage as much participation by as many students as possible. -Face paint or hair coloring MUST be applied before entering the school. -ALL school rules apply unless otherwise stated for that day. -For each game or activity, 1st place will receive 100 points, 2nd will receive 75 points, 3rd will receive 50 points, and 4th will receive 25 points. -The points will be posted across from guidance. Showcases All class showcases for spirit week will be displaying the different dress up days and the Applemen spirit. Each class will compete in creating the best showcase. Be creative and use your imagination! Do not decorate hallways!!! Showcases are to be worked on before and after school ONLY, and a class sponsor must be present. All showcases MUST be completed by 7:00 am on Monday, September 25th. A class WILL be disqualified if found to be working on the showcases after this time! The showcase themes have been randomly distributed among the classes. Showcases must be disassembled by October 6th or they will be trashed. They will be judged before school on Monday, September 25th by 2 staffulty and 2 administrators. Assignments: Freshmen: Into the Woods Sophomores: Camp Counselor and Scouts Day Juniors: Roughin' It Seniors: Stories Around the Campfire Bonfire Student Council will be holding a bonfire on Thursday, September 28th, from 7:30PM to 9:00 PM in the gravel parking lot behind the football field. THIS IS NOW A CLASS COMPETITON!! Whichever class has the highest% of people come to the bonfire will receive spirit points. All students are encouraged to come have a good time and roast some s’mores while cheering on the football team with the band and the cheerleaders as they prepare for Friday night's game! Homecoming Court will be recognized. We will also be selling water and possibly hot chocolate(depends on tempature) for $1. Powderpuff Football The softball team is having signups for powderpuff football. This will take place on Monday, September 25th and it will count for spirit points. Ask Coach Demasi if you have any questions! Points Each class competition is worth 100, 75, 50, or 25 points. There is a running total posted in the main hallway. The points are obtained by competitions throughout the week and completed at the pep assembly. The class with the most points wins the Spirit Stick! Rules: No masks/concealed faces, trench coats, bathing suits, pretend weapons or pajamas please! School rules still apply Monday, September 25th: “Roughin' It” Teachers: Students must be dressed in at least 2 items that resemble roughing it when on a camping trip. Ideas: messy hair, sweat pants, muddy face, torn up clothes, etc. Tuesday, September 26th: “Into the Woods” Teachers: Students must be dressed in at least 2 items that resemble anything you would find in the woods. Ideas: Camo, orange vests, dress like a deer or other wild animal, dress like a tree, etc. Wednesday, September 27th: “Camp Counselor and Scouts Day” Teachers: Students must be dressed in at least 2 items that resemble being a member of camp. Ideas: Backpacks, Patch Sashes, Hiking Shoes, Hats, Cargo Pants, Khaki Shorts, Camp Theme Shirts, etc. Thursday, September 28th: “Stories Around the Campfire” Teachers: Students must wear at least 2 items that resembles any made up creatures like you would hear about around the campfire. Ideas: Princess, fairies, mythical creatures, monsters, animals, etc. Friday, September 29th: SPIRIT FRIDAY Teachers: Students must be dressed in their Musselman Applemen green, white, & red attire. Many of you will be sporting your class shirts that were made. ALL SCHOOL RULES STILL APPLY! Let’s go Applemen! 7:10 am to 7:25 am (Late participants will be disqualified; PLEASE BE ON TIME) Monday: "Gotta Get to Camp" Each grade will need one contestant. You are running late to camp and you need to pack a bag with your materials as fast as you can, and meet at the council circle Tuesday: "Bullseye" Each grade will need one contestant. There is a big buck in the woods, see if you can hit the bullseye and knock him down. You will be blindfolded and have to pin the arrow on the bullseye. Wednesday: "Rise and Shine" Each class will need 1 contestant. Your bed has to look perfect before you are allowed to join camp activities. Whoever finishes making their bed first wins, and the days about to start so you better hurry! Thursday: "Camp Trivia" Each class will need 1 contestant. When you are sitting around the campfire at night you always hear scary stories or stories of mythical creatures. Let's see who knows their stories the best and can answer these 10 questions correctly! Friday: class Dance Approval ALL members of the class dance must arrive Friday morning to show Mrs. Branch their dance and get it approved. Everyone performing in the dance MUST BE THERE. If someone is late or absent, your class will be disqualified. If you show a different dance to Mrs. Branch than you perform in ANY way, you will be disqualified. You must show all flips, mounts, jumps and stunts. Times: 7:05- Seniors 7:10- Juniors 7:15 Sophomores 7:20- Freshman Pep Assembly Dismissal “September 29th 2017” Procedures for Friday, September 29th: 12:55 Students from C lunch report to 5th period. 1:00 Fall athletes report to cafeteria and meet your leadership member. Students in 5th period for 5 minutes. 1:03 Students dismissed to gym by wing by announcement. (Teachers/Coaches take attendance—in case of emergency, you are responsible for them from this point. Please review your emergency manual on Assemblies.) 1:15 Pep Assembly begins. Athletes will come in to the Fight Song, EVERYONE, PLEASE STAND!!! Athletes will sit in the first three rows of their respective classes, due to a lack of space. Staffulty please help Leadership keep the first three rows clear. Teachers, please be with your classes in the bleachers. Please encourage students to participate and have fun while showing respect! Remind students to leave the 1st three bleachers clear for the athletes. Volleyball/ Soccer (Amanda) Golf/Cross Country Z (Amanda) (Rachel) 10th grade The first three rows 9th grade of each grade are reserved for the athletes in that grade. 12th grade 11th Grade Band Jv and Freshmen Varsity Football (Tyler) Football (Randy) Pep Rally Games "Packing for Camp" Each class will need 1 contestant, you need a backpack for camp, get called items out of your section put the backpack on and whoever gets to the center council circle seated criss cross applesauce first wins. Class Dance Each class will have AT LEAST 10 students representing them in a class dance. The group must consist of at least 4 boys. Each class will perform their dance during the pep rally to a song given to them by leadership. You are not allowed to have mounts, flips, or anything where someone is thrown into the air without appropriate spotters. If someone does go in the air, you must have a minimum of 3 spotters. Your dance must be approved by Mrs. Branch at designated times on September 29th in the small gym. If you are late, you will be disqualified. If you show a dance different than what you perform at the pep rally, you will be stopped & disqualified. United Bank & community representatives will judge the dances. The judges will choose 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place. "Tug Of War" Each class will have 10 contestants (5 male, 5 female). Contestants must line up strategically down the rope and on the count of 3, they will pull as hard as they can. If the opposing teams flag crosses the line, your class wins. The two 1st round winners then face off, and the two 1st round losers face off, determining the standings. "Knock it Off" Each class will need 1 contestant. There will be a table with 8 cups set up. You will have1 minute to knock off as many cups on the table as you can with your ping pong balls. "On My Way To Camp" (Relay Race) Each class will need 4 contestants. The first person will paddle their way down the gym in a little red wagon using paddles. The next person will hop into the sleeping bag and jump down to the other side of the gym. The last two people will have a tent with instructions, whoever builds their tent crawls through the tunnel and comes out on the other side first wins. "S'more Please" Each class needs 1 contestant, whoever makes 3 s'more the quickest and delivers it to their counselor first wins, the catch is the items are in your section and you have to find them "Getting Ready for the Dance" This game will be played by the homecoming court.
