Claes Nordenskiöld: Hello there! And welcome to the yearly news quiz – A 2002 Quiz, Well, how much can you remember of all the things that took place last year? I’m going to ask you eleven questions and if you answer them correctly you’ll end up with a name that was very much related to the news last year.

Now, before we start, write the numbers one to eleven down the left- hand side of a piece of paper. OK? Let’s get started, here’s the first clue. Listen carefully and good luck!

Walt Disney’s latest animated movie is about Lilo – a little girl on Hawaii who lives with her sister and suddenly gets an unexpected visitor from another planet. At first she thinks that it’s just a fisty dog, but soon enough she realizes that it’s much more than that. What is the name of Lilo’s friend and co-star? Write the first letter of the name at number 8. Their names make up the movie’s title.

Music: ”Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride” Lilo & Stitch Soundtrack

CN: Music from the soundtrack to the latest Disney’s movie. Write the first letter of the name of Lilo’s friend at number 8. Now to number 10. I’m looking for a continent. A laureate was released from house arrest in Myanmar, the country formerly known as Burma. Democratic leader was released in May after nineteen months in house arrest. The question for number 10 is: On which continent is Myanmar located? Here’s a report:

Insert: For the past 12 years Suu Kyi has fought for democracy in Myanmar. When her opposition party won a majority in 1990, the military rejected the results and seized power. The United Nations official who worked for Suu Kyi’s release says elections could come within two years.

CN: On which continent were we? Write the first letter in the name at number 10.

CN: The name of the country which finished third in last year’s Football World Cup, at number 9. Now, here’s number 3. Elections have been held in France, Zimbabwe, as well as in Germany and many other countries. Here’re a couple of Swedish politicians in statements before the Swedish elections. My question is this. And the quiz answer this year is – AFGHANISTAN – an Islamic country which, despite severe problems, hopefully will move towards a more democratic rule where men, women and children may live their daily life with enough food to eat and without the threat of war and violence.

Hope you’ve enjoyed listening to this quiz as much as I’ve enjoyed putting it together. The sampled music you heard in the background between the questions were Eminem’s ”Without Me” and Peter Gabriel’s ”No Way Out”. And here’s some more of Nelly Furtado’s ”On the Radio”. Thanks for listening, and bye for now.
