5 June 7th 2017 Volume XI, Version 10 PTA PRESIDENT LETTER ALKI PTA Dear Alki, As I sit to write this end of year Currents letter I’m still on an Alki-a-thon high. I’m not sure if there is another day in the year that encompasses everything that we love about our school more than Alki-a-Thon. It is the PTA EXECUTIVE big event that truly brings together staff, students and parents like none other. The energy and joy is OFFICERS palpable. Thank you to this year’s Alki-a-Thon Chair, Jessie Ryan, for orchestrating such a successful event and Alki staff and dozens of parent PRESIDENT volunteers who did their part to make this day happen for our students. The Amy Cooper fact that it’s a fundraiser is really just a bonus, but, as PTA President, of course I [email protected] have to remind you that it IS fundraiser so let’s get those pledges in, folks! ;-) It’s June. And I know many of us are experiencing “end of year” syndrome. CO-VP COMMUNICATIONS There are no cutesie notes in our kiddos’ packed lunches… did I remember a Angela Powell juice box? Has my kid turned in his homework since April? Who knows. [email protected] September’s energy is a thing of the past. I can say the same for PTA’ing… and as I look back at September’s goals I think, Wow. There were definitely things CO-VP EVENTS we wanted to do, I wanted to do, and well… life happens and we do what we Lindsay Yost can. =) I appreciate your patience as we continue to strive to be the best [email protected] organization we can be while staying sane and, much like any of us, being the best parents we can be. CO-VP FUNDRAISING I am proud of the work that was done this year by our Board and Event and Lisa Rockel Program Chairs. Thank you to all of you who have stepped up in ways big and [email protected] small for PTA and our school. A big thank you to Principal Deese for being so open and available to our PTA and all families. I look forward to working with Principal Deese and staff next year with a year of experience under my belt and SECRETARY super grateful to the Board Members that are comin’ with me: Angela Powell, Danielle Jones Lindsay Yost, Danielle Jones, Vanessa Longacre-Wilcox and Elise Carlson [email protected] Rainer – along with new Board Members: Rebecca Ripley-Kent and Lynda Sullivan. I want to give thanks to outgoing Board members: Lisa Rockel, Laura TREASURER Mount, Malik Davis and Patti Johnson. A very heartfelt thank you to Patti for 3 Patti Johnson years of PTA service in the roles of VP/Fundraising and Treasurer. Patti’s [email protected] professionalism, attention to detail and optimism is unmatched and she has given SO MUCH of her time and energy to Alki these last three years. Thank you, Patti.

Alki-a-Thon happening on June 1st was a perfect kick off to a month of UPCOMING awesome year-end events! I hope everyone will join us tonight at our last PTA meeting of the year when we vote in next year’s budget.
