Players Full Name: Thea Pullbrook University representing: University of Western Jersey Number: #13

Since Thea joined the UWA Ultimate Club in 2016, she has become an integral part of our club as a star player, a key contributor to club culture, and a hugely important part of our club administration. Thea made her debut with UWA by helping the 2016 women’s team win gold at UniSport Nationals She went on to represent Sisko and Kaos at AUC D1 & D2 respectively and played on the most recent iteration of the Australian Stingrays in Heidelberg.

Anyone who knows Thea dreads marking her, as she is known for cutting at 100% non-stop from the moment she steps on the field. As such, she absolutely dominates the downfield space, making herself an invaluable asset to any line she is on. After mastering cutting, Thea has more recently stepped into a handling and leadership role as the Captain of the UWA Mixed Team in 2019. She excelled in this position, and her leadership skills meant she was able to dictate play and control the disc with precision. No surprise, she was voted MVP of that team.

On defence, the best way to handle a “Marked By Thea” situation is to stay out of the way of the play and keep her busy. She’ll probably still get a defensive block anyway. Her layouts are phenomenal (see diagram) and she’s been improving her footwork to complement her ridiculous stamina and good read of play.

Not only has Thea become a phenomenal team mate on the field, she also does a lot of heavy lifting as the Ultimate Club’s Secretary. This is her second consecutive year in that position and her work has been vital to the club’s function. She puts in a lot of work and makes sure the rest of the committee stays on task. Thea is also amazing at making beginners feel welcome and contributing to our team tank both on and off the field.

We love our Thea and we hope you do too. <3

Players Full Name: Mandy Li University representing: University of Jersey Number: #12

Mandy Li has been an invaluable member of the UOW Ultimate Frisbee Club for the past six years. Sadly she graduates at the end of 2020, so this is her last year with us. But before that, we would like to recognise and thank her for her dedicated service to our club. In her time at UOW, Mandy has cemented herself as the backbone of our club. Her illustrious list of achievements as a player, club executive and community member highlight this.

As a player, Mandy has represented herself and our club with excellence, across all levels of Ultimate. For UOW, she has captained various teams for UniGames, UMUC, NEUMUC and our Inaugural UOW League. Mandy has represented NSW at the U22s National Championships for the last three years. She captained the side in 2018 and was a dominant player in the 2019 Championship winning team. She has also captained Wollongong Ultimate teams Surge (women) and Krank (mixed) with many successes. Most notably, in 2019 Mandy was selected for the Under 24 Australian Women's team at the WFDF World Championships in Heidelberg, Germany. Here, Mandy showcased her impeccable skills as a player, teammate and leader.

Mandy Li is an incredible athlete with an infectious level of enthusiasm and drive. On offence, you can catch Mandy in the handler space, throwing with consistency and precision. You certainly won't catch her when she makes a cheeky deep cut and skies you in the endzone though. It's her signature move. On defence, Mandy loves a smart poach but is an impenetrable opponent on match D. Her hunger and dedication to her team allow her to shut any player out of any point. Even with all this, Mandy is never too busy to lend a hot tip to anyone, wherever needed.

As a UOW executive, Mandy has given her all to our club. She has held many positions on our board. Starting as a general committee member, then working her way up to secretary (2 years), president (2 years) and holds the position of treasurer in her final year at the club. During this time, she has organised many tournaments and social events, not limited to; weekly trainings and hangouts, the Inaugural UOW League, Savage Sevens and UOW Ultimate Ball. She has also organised other events for the greater Wollongong Ultimate community. Mandy is the most driven and dedicated person we have ever met and certainly knows her way around a spreadsheet.

As a community member, Mandy's charismatic personality and love of Ultimate truly shines. She is a friendly, knowledgeable and approachable member of our community who has drawn-in and retained many new members over the years. Mandy embodies the humble and inclusive spirit of Ultimate, and has grown our club by simply being herself.

UOW Ultimate Frisbee Club will be sad to see Mandy leave us at the end this year, and are so thankful for her contributions to our club as a player and person.

Thank you, Mandy. We love you!
