~ Introducing our performers 音樂家簡介 ~ ✪ All Souls’ Singing Group and Bible Study Group 全靈教會合唱團及中文查經班 Members 成員: (in alphabetical order 依姓氏排列 ) Brett Baglin, Hannah Hai, Young Lai 賴楊木, Justy Lai 賴奕廷, Lily Louey, Rebecca Lu 吕欣蓉, Debbie Mazlin, Jessica Nieh 聶惠珠, Batty Olsen, Jenny Tsai 蔡鶯梅, Serena Sun 孫映 雪, Roni Willis, Alvin Willis Sandra Minns – Accompanist 伴奏, Janelle Baglin – Conductor 指揮 All Souls' Singing Group is a bunch of people who like to sing, and especially to sing praises to God. They meet each Thursday at 5.30pm at All Souls' Anglican Church Chapman to rehearse the hymns and songs for their 9am Sunday service, where they attend and help lead the congregational singing. Reverend Janelle Baglin is the conductor and Mrs Sandra Minns the accompanist. It is their great honour and privilege to be part of the concert this afternoon, supporting this worthy cause. ✪ Jessica Tsou 鄒以靈 – Piano 鋼琴 Jessica Tsou is studying with Susanne Powell and Geoffrey Lancaster for a Master of Music degree majoring in Piano and Fortepiano performance. She has been awarded prizes in the national Eisteddfod and the School of Music's chamber music competition. ✪ Annette Liu 劉安蓁 – Cello 大提琴 Annette was born in Nov. 1995, and had lived in Africa, USA, Europe and Taiwan before. She travels a lot with her family and had just moved to Canberra in January 2012. Currently, Annette is a Year 11 student at the Narrabundah College. Annette started her music lessons at the age of 5, and started playing cello since six years old in Taipei. She attended the Helsinki Conservatory of Music when her family moved to Finland in Jan. 2003. With a major in cello and a minor in piano, Annette had also played in the Conservatory’s Youth Orchestra and the Chamber Music group when she stayed in Finland till Jan. 2009. She is presently studying cello with David Pereira in Canberra. Besides the school of music, Annette was also playing in the school orchestra and chamber music when she was in the English School of Helsinki and the Kang Chiao Bilingual High School in Taiwan in 2011. Annette has a variety of interests that include reading, music, dancing, art, photography, etc. She hopes to continue playing music as one of her lifetime hobbies. ✪ Melodie Liu 劉沁潔 – Violin 小提琴 Melodie was born in March 1998, and had lived in the USA, Europe and Taiwan before. She travels a lot with her family and had just moved to Canberra in January 2012. She is currently a Year 9 student at the Telopea Park School. Melodie started her violin lessons at the age of six in Helsinki, and enrolled into Helsinki Conservatory as a preparatory groups’ student in 2004. With a major in ~ Introducing our performers 音樂家簡介 ~ violin and a minor in piano later at the school of music in 2006, Melodie also participated at the Conservatory’s Youth Orchestra. Now, she is learning violin with Barbara J Gilby in Canberra. Melodie had private lessons from time to time when she was back in Taiwan after staying in Finland for six years. Melodie has great interests in reading, music, art,etc. She would also like to keep music as one of her lifetime hobbies, just like her elder sister Annette. ✪ Andy Hu 胡嘉哲 – Vocal 主唱 Andy grew up in New Zealand and is currently a student in ANU, majoring in engineering. He loves singing and listening to music, especially R&B, rock, and jazz. He won first place in the Mid-Autumn Festival karaoke contest organized by the Taiwanese Association of Canberra. ✪ Jofan Lin 林若帆 – Vocal 主唱 Jofan graduated from ANU with a degree in engineering. She loves playing the guitar and singing. Her favourite genres are jazz, contemporary R&B, and alternatives. ✪ Ashlea Perry – Vocal 主唱 Ashlea Perry is a Mezzo Soprano, who has been studying under Theresa Rayner from the Bright Voices Singing Studio since 2007. She last performed in the September 2012 Midday Musicals at the Wesley Music Centre, and has previously performed in other concerts and Eisteddfods. Ashlea is a tax accountant by trade and enjoys snowboarding in winter and camping in summer. ✪ Alan Hicks – Piano 鋼琴 Alan Hicks joined the teaching staff of the ANU School of Music in 2005 and is currently Head of Voice. Much sought after as a vocal coach and associate artist, Alan appears regularly at the Canberra International Music Festival and performs and records for ABC FM. ✪ Mark Popplewell – Tenor 男高音 Mark is a native Canberra lawyer and is also the President of the Management Committee of the Canberra Youth Theatre. His singing teacher is Andrea Orwin and he sings with the Canberra Opera Chorus. ✪ Barbara Jane Gilby – Violin 小提琴 A graduate of the Canberra School of Music and Boston University, Barbara entered the music profession as an orchestral violinist and for 15 years was Concertmaster of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. In 2000 she returned to Canberra to teach at the ANU School of Music and in 2010 was appointed Concertmaster of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra. .
