“Wednesday Lunchtime Live” Concert Schumann’s Second Violin Sonata

The Wesley Music Centre is pleased to announce that violinist Jack Chenoweth and pianist Kylie Loveland will perform Robert Schumann’s passionate Sonata No 2 for Violin and Piano in D Minor Op 121 at the Wesley Music Centre on Wednesday 14th September from 12.40 to 1.20pm.

Jack Chenoweth grew up in , studying the violin with Gillian Bailey-Graham and playing in various youth music ensembles and school orchestras. He studied at the ANU with Barbara Jane Gilby

and was also a Wesley Scholar, winning prizes for violin and chamber music. He continued his music at the Australian National Academy of Music with Monica Curro and Paul Wright, performing in various Melbourne ensembles. Having worked as a freelance musician and writer, he decided to try something different and enrolled in a law degree at the ANU. He became a member of the editorial team of the Federal Law Review and represented the ANU in the 2014 Jessup International Law Moot Competition. Jack now works as a lawyer for

the Australian Government but also plays in various local ensembles, including the Canberra Symphony Orchestra. Other interests include back-country skiing and running long distances up and down mountains. He is reasonably confident that he is the only person in the room today whose interests include playing solo Bach fugues, fiduciary

obligations and racing ultra-marathons in the Victorian Alps.

Kylie Loveland graduated with a Bachelor of Music (first class honours) from the ANU School of Music in 2009, studying piano under Susanne Powell and under Dr Geoffrey Lancaster. Kylie has performed Beethoven’s 4th Piano Concerto with the National Capital Orchestra, participated in the Tel Hai International Piano Master Classes in Israel and travelled to Germany to study with the Silver Garburg Piano Duo. Awarded the Dennis Griffin National Piano Graduate Scholarship, Kylie completed her Master of Music (specialising in piano accompaniment). Throughout 2014-2015 Kylie studied with Dr Barbara Lister-Sink (USA), a world renowned specialist in injury-preventive keyboard technique. Kylie currently enjoys teaching piano at Canberra Girls’ Grammar School and St Clare’s College as well as her private studio. In addition, she accompanies various choirs, singers and instrumentalists around the ACT.
