The Darts (US) Stage Two Night Grrrl Rock Slumber Party with Death Valley Girls & the Priscillas in London & Brighton Death Valley Girls, The Darts (US), The Priscillas Apr 29, 2017 13:43 BST The Darts (US) Stage Two Night Grrrl Rock Slumber Party with Death Valley Girls & The Priscillas in London & Brighton For press and media access please contact [email protected] LA and Phoenix grrrl supergroup The Darts (US) kick off their European tour with fellow desert darlings Death Valley Girls and city babes The Priscillas, for a two night stand in London and Brighton. Thursday, May 25th The Dirty Water Club will unveil the UK debut of Dirty Water Records hottest new recording artists The Darts, along with Damaged Goods artists The Priscillas at the Finsbury Pub. Tickets are already flying fast for this one! The Priscillas have gained an awesome live reputation. Their shows leave audiences with huge grins, humming their catchier-than-flu tunes. They have honed their shows into proper events. They're not just the best all-girl band in the UK,"They're The Cramps,The Shangri-Las, and the New York Dolls all rolled into one" says Kerrang! and are "Near perfect power-pop, according to the NME. Looking like they’ve just stepped out of a Russ Meyer movie, these four girls with big boots, (whom VOGUE magazine says "exude B-movie glamour") big hair and very small skirts rip through a handful of punk charged sixties go go groovers, delivering a mix of punk and garage rock with pop hooks and attitude a plenty. Watch video on YouTube here They are fun with a capital ‘F’. These girls Jenny Drag (lead vocals),Valkyrie (guitar and backing vocal), Heidi Heelz (bass and backing vocals) andLisa Lux (drums and backing vocals), graduated with honours from the Rock’n’Roll High School (old boys including The Ramones, of course) and then spent a salubrious term at the Academy of Tragic Melodies. On Friday, May 26th Acid Box Promotions and riotous feminist cult Bitchcraft, will be hosting a themed tribute night for Kim Shattuck from The Muffs with two perfect West Coast bands to be the performing maidens of honour: Death Valley Girls and The Darts (US) at Sticky Mike's Frog in Brighton. This is sure to be a well oversubscribed event so get in there early. Burger Records and Los Angeles ouija board rockers Death Valley Girls, who refer to their sound as “dystopian punk,” “occult glam,” and “doom boogie.” Formed in 2013, the quartet swims in the sounds of Black Sabbath, The Stooges, Bikini Kill, and T. Rex into bruising, dry desert punk-rock that, at times, isn’t afraid to jump into bed with a psychedelic chord or two. Death Valley Girls are classic conduits for the true-blue rock ’n’ roll and have taken the western world by storm with super-paranormal powers. That’s not to imply that frontwoman Bonnie Bloomgarden has a daily life of a nonstop heavy metal marathon of occult rituals and devil worship and biting the heads off bats - but when on tour, the band do kill time by visiting haunted places, cemeteries, and creepy historical sites.. Watch video on YouTube here Watch video on YouTube here View embedded content here When describing The Darts, they themselves refer that they are an all girl beat combo and they rock and roll! Their gender matters not, because their sound is a killer collection of garage fuzz with more than a pinch of punk rock attitude sprinkled with some superb pop sensibilities. Leaning heavily on a Stooges vibe with added keyboard or organ however you want to window dress it this a fuzzed out big bass drummed Farfisa organed lo-fi drop of goodness for the soul. Sure, there is a large part 60s happening here but it's rough edges add charm to their irresistible sounds. Watch video on YouTube here Watch video on YouTube here The Darts are total “bad ass” . Because this ain’t elevator music. This band is more heavy and aggressive sounding than any of the ladies’ previous bands – which include ’60s garage revalists The Love Me Nots, Motobunny, Zero Zero (Nicole Laurenne Vocals and Farfisa), The Two Tens, The Dollyrots, Thee Outta Sites (drumming singer Rikki Styxx), The Love Me Nots, Casual Encounters, The Madcaps (bassist/singer Christina Nunez), Brainspoon (guitarist/singer Michelle Balderrama). This is MutantMutant PopPop free! Mailorder Catalog AH free! http://members.aol.com/mutantpop/ Hey, we rolled the odometer! Hooray for all of us! If I didn’t use the occasion to tweak the typography a little bit, i wouldn’t be doing my job. Thanks to Jeff Wison for the outstanding New Release Info dancing kids drawing, originally created for the the Pizzafest T-shirts. That cat can draw... As you can recall from MP Days of Yore, Pizzafest was gonna be a big show and pizzafeed with participants getting a free shirt, but the venue got paranoid about security, costs escalated, band avail- abilities got shaky, and the event was cancelled. Fortunately, it was replaced by not one but two “Mutant Fest” type of events: Cincinnati, OH in August (hosted by Dave Spodie of The Connie Dungs) and Columbus, OH in October (hosted by Eddie of The Proms). The bottom line is this: if you wanna have pop-punk events to attend this summer, people need to Do It Yourself. Get out there and independently organize your own Mutant Fest-type of deal! It would seem that there would be enough people and bands in the NY/NJ/PA area and possibly also in the Pacific Northwest—in addition to room for shows in the heartland of the pop-punk world, the midwest. There are rumors of a possible Connie Dungs/Dirt Bike Annie mini-tour this summer, how great would it be to tie into that? It’s something for you The 40th Mutant Pop 7”er is now on the street! people in pop-punk bands to think about—make your own fun! MP-39 THE BEAUTYS “A#1 Sex Shop Em- ployee” EP finally made it to my doorstep from Bill Smith Custom Records in LA on January 4.

It’s the incredible free! MutantMutant PopPop AC Mailorder Catalog Well, Snorkel Bob and I survived our June trip around North America. We logged about 8500 miles and saw a lot of cool stuff, including a June 19 show in NYC featuring DIRT BIKE ANNIE and THE KUNG FU MONKEYS. It was a ton of fun! I’ll blab about the trip next time. First I need to try to sell you some records to keep this crappy label alive! The new Mutant Pop single is a faboo EP by Seattle’s amazing WANNA-BES. Originally from Longview, Washing- ton, home of fellow pop-punkers THE JIMMIES, THE WANNA-BES came into the MP orbit via James from MORAL CRUX, who heard them and urged them to send me a tape. Whew! THE WANNA- BES are definitely one of the most exciting three-chord bands doing their thing today! They have a simple formula, so simple that it’s brilliant: instead of trying to ape Joey Ramone’s voice, Chris Workman and the gang melds the enor- mous RAMONES poppy punk guitar sound with high quality, sweet vocals that sound like they would have been at home in the 1960s invasion of British pop. Not to far afield of GENERATION X or MORAL CRUX or some other punk band that can actually sing, in other words...Very crisp, clean vocals and harmonies over a big guitar roar. Like duh, why hasn’t anyone thought of doing that be- fore? They sound absolutely fantastic, appealing to fans of the classic three- chord punk sound without coming across like lame copycat rehash that has been heard five dozen times before..

It’s the incredible free! MutantMutant PopPop AE Mailorder Catalog http://members.aol.com/mutantpop/ After a humongo delay MP-35 THE CHUBBIES “She Wanted More” is finally on the street... Thanks very much for your patience! It was my fault all the way, I dragged my tail and dragged my tail again, no excuses. Anyway, it’s finally time for us to savor two more blasts of Jeannette the King’s power-pop magic—the title track roars and purrs with a growling guitar and sultry vocals, the classic CHUBBIES formula. It’s very fine! We all know that female-fronted power pop is outside of Maximum Rocknroll’s area of coverage these days (whereas boys can go as wussy as they wanna and still draw a review!) but that doesn’t mean you should be ignoring this sub-genre of the pop-punk world or this band in particular. Jeannette Chubbie simply must be counted among the relatively small number of first rank songwriters of the current period. She is that talented! While Jeannette’s guitar work punches hard, The King’s lyrics tend towards the smart and artistic. I’d no sooner give you my detailed interpretation of her work than I would give you my inter- pretation of collage art by Winston Smith or a Sue Coe painting. Listen and derive your own meaning. I will say in general terms that the A-side deals with angst and expectations from a female perspective and the flipside, a song called “Pseudo-Christ,” is an understated howl of anti-religious fury and artis- tic hope.
