- The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be the 21st FIFA World Cup, a quadrennial international football tournament contested by the men's national teams of the member associations of FIFA. The Klyazma river (the fourth order tributary to the Volga) was selected as the object of study. The natural complex of the Klyazma river basin is a combination of different landscapes, each marked by a diverse composition of geomorphological and soil-vegetation structures. The study is based on remote sensing data and the Trends.Earth Land Degradation Monitoring Project (Land Cover Dataset, European Space Agency 2015, 300 m spatial resolution) implemented using the open-source Quantum GIS 2.18. Four landscape provinces and eight site were identified in the studied catchment area according to the geomorphological structure and the soil and vegetation cover. The ecosystem parameters Gross Primary Productivity, Net Primary Productivity, and Ecosystem Respiration were measured in the identified sites. -

Fennoscandia archaeologica XXXII (2015) Mikhail Zhilin EARLY MESOLITHIC BONE ARROWHEADS FROM THE VOLGA-OKA INTERFLUVE, CENTRAL RUSSIA Abstract Several different types of bone arrowheads were produced and used during the Early Mesolithic in the Volga-Oka interfluve. In this paper, recent research on these artefacts is reviewed, and their means of manufacture and ways of use determined through microscopy and experimental research. The research highlights the skill of the Early Mesolithic inhabitants of the Volga-Oka interfluve in manufacturing bone arrowheads, used for hunting various animals. A similarity was observed between the flint industry of pre-boreal sites of the Volga-Oka region and those of southern Finland, especially with respect to tanged flint arrowheads. The similarity suggests that the Early Mesolithic population of southern Finland and Karelian Isthmus most probably produced and used bone arrowheads similar to those described in the article. However, because bone artefacts are generally missing in the latter regions because of acrid soils, the conclusion should be regarded as a working hypothesis. We must take into account that the population demographics of the region is largely dependent on diversity and state of resources of the area and their involvement into the economic sphere, however, it is obvious that the state of the economy is also a key factor in ensuring the sustainability of ecosystems and geo-systems of the river basin. The river Klyazma basin area has a long historical path of development and transformation of natural systems into natural and man-made landscape complexes. -

Early Mesolithic barbed bone points in the Volga-Oka interfluve Mikhail G. Zhilin Abstract Complex research on various barbed points from early Mesolithic sites in the Volga-Oka interfluve showed that they were the heads of different categories of hunting weapons, mostly projectiles. Analyses of their shape, size and use-wear traces made it possible to single out arrowheads, javelin or leister points, throwing and thrusting spearheads and harpoons. The earliest of them emerge in the first half of the Preboreal period, but the full flou- rishing of various categories of barbed weapons is observed during the late Preboreal to early Boreal periods and later. Some types and variants are numerous and have a long history, while others are represented only by single finds. The former represent more or less standard mass products, while the latter can be treated as experimental artefacts which played no significant role. Together with other types of bone and antler hunting weapons barbed projectile points played an important role in subsistence strategies of the Early Mesolithic po- pulation of the Volga-Oka interfluve and their adaptation to the forest environment during the early Holocene. 1 Introduction Among a range of Mesolithic bone and antler artefacts various points occupy a prominent place. They were used in different ways, but the majority of them was connected with hunting and fishing. -

It includes only one occurrence per species per grid square, thereby recently confirmed earlier records are not duplicated. Georeferences are based on the WGS84 grid scheme with 342 squares with areas ranging from 94.7 km2 in the northernmost part to 98.2 km2 on the southern boundary (5′ lat. × 10′ long.). Each occurrence is linked to the corresponding grid square centroid, therefore actual coordinates, habitat details and voucher information are unavailable. In late 2011, the earlier version of the dataset was used for the production of grid maps in the standard "Flora of Vladimir Oblast: checklist and atlas". Additional records, obtained during field excursions of 2012 and 2013, were fully included in the "Flora of Vladimir Oblast: grid data analysis". The stable version of the dataset with 123,054 grid records (as of 1867–2013) was published in GBIF in 2017. New information Data obtained in the field during 2014–2020, as well as those extracted from recently published sources, were digitised, structured and finally published in GBIF in April 2021. -
