Mission Statement St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, Anderson SC was founded in 1943 by the Franciscans of the Holy Name Province, New York. The intention then and today, was and is to, in the spirit of Jesus Christ and St. Francis, minister in and with the African American Catholic community and to reach out to the African Americans of Anderson County. Furthermore, all who come to St. Mary’s from whatever background and ethnicity with a desire for Christian family will be regarded as brothers and sisters to us. We also see ourselves as called to live in Gospel relationship to the alienated and the poor of this community.
Declaración de la Misión La Iglesia Católica de Santa Maria de los Ángeles de Anderson, Carolina del Sur fue fundada en el año 1943 por los Franciscanos de la Provincia del Santísimo Nombre de Jesús en Nueva York. La intención en aquella época y ahora, ery y es en el espíritu de Jesucristo y San Francisco, servir a la Comunidad católica afro americana y también poder llegar a todos los afro americanos del Condado de Anderson. The First pillar of Lent is Prayer. Lent is a time of spiritual renewal, and during Lent we put special time aside to be prayerful and reflective. Good communication is a sign of good friend- ship. Lent calls us to re- new our relationship with God, by communicating with God each and every day. Some people like to pray with the scriptures during Lent. Others like to pray the Rosary, or some other devotional prayer. Others like to just find a time to sit quietly each day in God's presence. There are as many different ways to pray, or communicate with God, as there are prayers, but we encourage you to find a way of connecting with God that feels right for you. El primer pilar de Ia Cuaresma es Ia oración.
La Cuaresma es un tiempo de renovación espiritual, y durante Ia Cuaresma, dedicamos un tiempo especial a orar y reflexionar. La buena comunicación es un signo de una buena amistad. La Cuaresma nos llama a renovar nuestra relación con Dios, comunicándonos con Dios todos los días. A algunas personas les gusta orar con las Escrituras durante Ia Cuaresma. A otros les gusta rezar el Rosario u otra oración devocional. A otros les gusta simplemente tomar un momento para sentarse en silencio cada día en Ia presencia de Dios.
