For the third consecutive year, the GVK Lounge at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) bagged the ‘World’s Leading Airport Lounge- First Class’ and ‘Asia’s Leading Airport Lounge’ award at the ‘World Travel Awards’ on 5 December, 2017 held in Vietnam. The lounge was recognized for its luxurious offerings and superlative facilities at the airport. Prestigious ‘Sword of Honour’ for GVK MIAL GVK MIAL received the prestigious ‘Sword of Honour’ for demonstrating excellence in mitigating health and safety risks at work from the British Safety Council on 24 November, 2017 held in London. The ‘Sword of Honour’ acknowledges the company’s endeavour towards offering a world-class secure and healthy environment to all its stakeholders. GVK MIAL was graded with a five-star rating, after one of the most stringent Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Management System audits conducted recently by the British Safety Council (BSC). GVK MIAL is one of only 57 organizations worldwide to receive this recognition this year.

GVK CSIA organizes ‘Cook-Off’ festival and contest

The Commercial team of GVK CSIA in collaboration with TFS organized a ‘Cook-Off’ festival for passengers to give a unique experience and infuse creativity in different dishes at T1 on 20 December, 2017. This festival was the first of its kind organized by any Indian Airport. The passengers were divided into four different teams and each team was given a pack of ready to use ingredients which had freshly cut vegetables, dressing condiments, flavouring toppings and bread slices and the time given was 10 minutes. The winners of the festival were acknowledged on the parameters of their creativity and cleanliness. www.gvk.com

GVK MIAL facilitates the loading for ‘Antonov’ GVK MIAL’s Cargo team had a proud moment when they facilitated the loading of the heaviest single piece consignment weighing 91 tons onto the giant ‘Antonov’ An-124 cargo aircraft. Probably the first time that an Indian airport handled such a consignment! The wide body aircraft is powered by six turbofan engines and is the longest and heaviest airplane ever built, with a maximum take-off weight of 640 tonnes and it also has the largest wingspan of any aircraft in operational service.

Human Rights Day Celebrations at GVK CSIA Team Jaya He GVK New Museum of GVK CSIA celebrated Human Rights Day in a unique way by hosting a group of 22 friends with various disabilities with the help of an NGO named ‘Trinayani’ on 10 December 2017. The team arranged a specially curated walkthrough being sensitive to their needs and explained each and every art piece which is part of the 1.3 km long art wall. They all enjoyed spending time at their leisure enjoying the cultural display and a sumptuous lunch.

GVK HOSPITALITY Taj Banjara Fun at work ‘Break from Work’, is most important nowadays to boost the energy of employees and motivate them for work. The HR department of Taj Banjara organized various fun games and activities for associates in the dining hall, as part of its ‘Joy & Work’ initiatives. Associates had to put a ball inside a tumbler by blowing air in just 60 seconds without touching the ball or the tumbler. Mr Rajesh from the Security department was the winner as he managed to put the ball quickly in the tumbler in just 15 seconds.

Badminton Tournament Taj Banjara organized a Badminton Tournament for all the associates. Associates from different departments who are Badminton enthusiasts were all geared up to play matches in the tournament with gusto. www.gvk.com

A Fond Farewell Retirement is a new beginning of life. A grand farewell function was organized by the team Taj Banjara for Mr Sharad Racharla, who served many years as Chief Engineer, on his retirement in the presence of General Manager Mr Hitendra Sharma, HODs and other staff members. As a remembrance, Mr Sharad Racharla planted a sapling on the premises - a beautiful reminder of his many fond memories at the Taj Banjara. His family was also invited to experience these moments as he bid adieu to his work place where he spent most of his time with his second family! A farewell cake cutting ceremony was organized followed by a dance performance, song and high tea with snacks.

‘Halloween’ Celebrations Halloween is celebrated on the eve of All Hallows Day. It is a day dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints, martyrs and all the departed. The team at Taj Deccan conducted a ‘Scary Face Painting Competition’ to celebrate ‘Halloween’ at the associate dining hall area in the hotel premises. All the employees from different departments participated and unleashed their creative minds in making the scariest painting on their partner’s face. Ms Ankita from housekeeping department was adjudged as the winner and Mr Satti Babu from engineering department was the runner up.

Hon’ble Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma launched 95 Ambulances in the presence of MLAs from Karbi Anglong & Hailakandi, Principal Secretary Health & Family Welfare, Mission Director NHM, VP (operations) and other dignitaries on 5 December, 2017 in Guwahati. The Ambulances were launched as a part of the 108 Mrityunjoy Ambulance service to reduce the response time in cases of any medical emergencies in the state. GVK EMRI has been operating the 108 services for nine years now in the state of Assam.

The helpline will particularly help Class XII students as they can use the facility to address any questions or doubts they might have about career prospects. GVK EMRI - Goa launches 8 new ambulances Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa Mr Manohar Parrikar launched 8 new state-of-the-art 108 advanced lifesaving ambulances at Porvorim in the state, in the presence of Health Minister, Vishwajeet Rane and other dignitaries on 23 December, 2017 to provide the medical help during any emergencies to outstation patients and people of Goa. After this launch of 8 additional ambulances, the total no of ambulances has gone up to 33. The new ambulances will join and strengthen the existing fleet, and enhance the emergency response service
