Summer 2015 Christ Episcopal Church, Macon Page 3 A Tribute to Peter Solomon One of the most faithful members of the Christ Church Choir in the history of our parish has decided to retire. Peter Solomon has Prayer served as an important bass in the choir for more than 50 years. requests He was baptized at Christ church in about 1937 and served as an acolyte during high school. He returned to Macon in 1962 after attending Georgia Tech and serving in the Army. He joined the Christ Church Choir in 1964 and has served continuously since. In addition, he has served two terms on the vestry, once as Junior Warden and then as Senior Warden in his second term. He has served several times on pledge campaign committees as well as capital fund campaigns. He served on the Rector Search Com- mittee in the early 1990s. Peter has the gift of a very low singing voice. He was the only person who could hit the lowest note of a very special anthem the choir sang during communion on Easter Day: Alleluia by Randall Thompson. Peter’s low “Ds” made it possible for the choir to tune better and made the performance much more effective. He pro- Ann, Bailey, Barbara, Beth, vided the foundation and steady support that the choir desperately needed. We literally could not have done it without you, Peter! Peter’s voice is as low as some Beverly, Bill, Bill, Carmen, of the low pipes on an organ. Losing Peter’s voice means we will no longer have Carolyn, Cloyd, Connie, one of our most important ranks of pipes! You will be sorely missed, Peter. Crawford, David, Doris, Christ Church thanks you, Peter, for all you have done for our parish. Your com- mitment and dedication are greatly appreciated. No one in the choir wants to Elizabeth, Etta Reese, accept that you are retiring, so we will still look forward to occasionally seeing George, Hazel, Jeffery, you in the loft.
