Zaterdag Brussels Cycling Classic als opvolger van Parijs-Brussel Wie maakte juiste keuze: spurters of aanvallers? Zaterdag wordt in Waals-Brabant, Vlaams-Brabant en het Brussels Hoofdstedelijk Gewest de eerste Brussels Cycling Classic gereden, de opvolger van de 92 jaar oude Parijs-Brussel. De lastigheidsgraad van het parcours situeert zich vooral in de finale met twee lussen rond Vossem, Duisburg, Neerijse en Leefdaal met telkens de beklimming van de Vossemberg en de Smeysberg. De Langestraat wordt zelfs drie keer beklommen. Daarna gaat het in gestrekte draf over de brede Brusselse boulevards langs de fonteinen van de Montgomeryrotonde, de TV-toren op de Lambermontlaan, het kasteel van Laken, de Japanse Toren, het Chinees paviljoen, het Amerikaans theater, het planetarium en het Koning Boudewijnstadion. De aankomstlijn ligt aan het Atomium op de Keizerin Charlottelaan. Organisator Wim Van Herreweghe prijst zich gelukkig met het deelnemersveld dat hij voor zijn eerste editie heeft kunnen strikken. “Veertien van de negentien ploegen van de World Tour tekenen present”, zegt hij. “Als we ons op deze manier kunnen blijven spiegelen naar en handhaven in het zog van wedstrijden zoals Hamburg en Plouay moeten we niet blozen en belooft dat voor de toekomst.” Dat deelnemersveld kan je opsplitsen in twee delen. Eerst heb je de ploegen die hun spurters uitspelen omdat ze denken dat de Brussels Cycling Classic zal eindigen met een spurt zoals het met Parijs-Brussel zo dikwijls het geval was. De Belgische topploegen speculeren op Andre Greipel en Alessandro Petacchi om te duelleren tegen Arnaud Demare, John Degenkolb, Alexander Kristoff, Elia Viviani, Gerald Ciolek, Daniele Bennati, Davide Apollonio, Heinrich Haussler, Maxime Vantomme, Jean-Pierre Drucker en nog meerdere anderen. De ploegen die speculeren op aanvallen in de lastige finale schuiven Björn Leukemans, Lars Boom, Aliaksandr Kuschynski, Rui Costa, de Spaanse kampioen Jesus Herrada, Davide Vigano, Thomas Voeckler, Laurens De Vreese en Pieter Jacobs naar voren. 25 Jahre Rund um die Nürnberger Altstadt 1 Grußwort des Oberbürgermeisters Dr. Ulrich Maly Der Radsport hat sich wie kaum eine andere Sportart in den letzten Jahren zur Freizeitbeschäftigung weiter Bevölkerungskreise entwickelt. Dieser Boom lässt sich nicht nur an den Erfolgen deutscher Radsportler bei internationalen Wettkämpfen festmachen, sondern auch an steigenden Teilnehmerzahlen bei Radsportveranstaltungen für Hobbysportler. Veranstaltungen wie das Radrennen „Rund um die Nürnberger Altstadt“ tragen dazu bei, den Radsport in all seinen Facetten einem breiten Publikum zu präsentieren und damit seine Beliebtheit weiter zu steigern. Ein solches Event über Jahrzehnte hinweg und allen Höhen und Tiefen des Profi-Radsports zum Trotz, lebendig, attraktiv und als riesiges Familienfest innerhalb der Altstadt zu gestalten – das ist ohne außerordentliches Engage- ment sowie großen sportlichen und persönlichen Einsatz nicht zu leisten. The ClassPrediction package in OOMPA provides tools to help with the \class prediction" problem. Class prediction is one of the three primary types of applications of microarrays described by Richard Simon and colleagues. The point of these problems is to select a subset of \features" (genes, proteins, etc.) and combine them into a fully speciﬁed model that can predict the \outcome" for new samples. Here \outcome" may be a binary classiﬁcation, a continuous variable of interest, or a time-to-event outcome. Most prediction methods involve (at least) two parts: 1. feature selection: deciding which of the potential predictors (features, genes, proteins, etc.) to include in the model 2. model optimization: selecting parameters to combine the selected features in a model to make predic- tions. In this vignette, we illustrate the use of a genetic algorithm for feature selection. 1 2 Getting Started No one will be surprised to learn that we start by loading the package into the current R session: > library(GenAlgo) We also use some plotting routines from the ClassDiscovery package.
