Appendices 17 Chairperson’s statement On behalf of the newly appointed Board, I have great pleasure in presenting the first corporate plan for the Macquarie Point Development Corporation (Corporation). The Corporation has been established as a condition of the funding agreement between the Australian and Tasmanian Governments and charges the Board with the important responsibility of delivering economic, social and cultural benefits to the city of Hobart and, indeed, the state through the remediation and redevelopment of the Macquarie Point site and redevelopment of the Brooke Street Pier in Hobart. This site has the potential to influence Hobart’s growth and development over the next 50 years and represents an exciting and important development opportunity. We are fortunate to have a very experienced Board guiding and overseeing this project and, while the organisation is relatively small, it is made up of a very capable and professional team. The corporate plan has a strong focus on consultation over the coming year. As such, the Board and I are very much looking forward to meeting with the community and key stakeholders as we set about the task of developing a joint vision for the future of this important site.
